Ozzie better get the bullpen up. However, this is the exact situation where he never has the balls to be proactive. We're a hanging slider away from a tie game.

QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Aug 24, 2006 -> 12:46 AM) I think Mack is slower, but only by a hair. Ozuna is faster than Pods. Ozuna is on a different planet compared to Pods when you're discussing speed and quickness.
-
And here we go. If we lose this game, that Pods AB is going to be the turning point. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Aug 24, 2006 -> 12:44 AM) I said Mack had SIMILAR speed to Pods earlier today, and was mocked. Pods might be faster, but when you include hustle, I think Mackowiak, Gload, and Cintron get down the line faster than him.
-
QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Aug 24, 2006 -> 12:43 AM) Can't wait till Pods last game here Me too...except there's going to be a lot of fat teenage girls that are sad to see him go.
-
Hawk is just livid about that Pods AB.
-
Was it too early in the game to ph Anderson there, and just move Mackowiak to LF? It's funny, but today on the radio, they said that Ozzie has told the media Pods won't play against LHP until he proves he can hit RHP. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Aug 24, 2006 -> 12:41 AM) Ball takes a high hop and speedy von Dergan cant beat it out to 1st. Does he have lead in his shoes. I'm convinced that Mackowiak and Gload are faster than him.
-
I hate you Scott Podsednik! What a heartless AB by a pathetic player.
-
Pods needs to find a way to get this run in.

Remember when Uribe used to drive the ball with authority to right center?

QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Aug 24, 2006 -> 12:38 AM) s***, KC still batting in the first. Revenge for the 11 runs they got off of Hudson? Quite funny, considering Byrd's great start last time out.
-
QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Aug 24, 2006 -> 12:35 AM) Freddy is the face of this team, he represents us perfectly. Unexplained decrease in physical ability?
-
QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Aug 24, 2006 -> 12:30 AM) If Buerhle doesn't stop giving up hits, you aren't going to get top prospects for him until teams get to look at him in the spring to see if anything has changed, and make sure he isn't hurt. I think he still has a ton of value this offseason, no matter how bad he finishes. We'll just sell it as the fact he was fatigued. Why wouldn't anyone want the greatest lefty closer in MLB history?
-
QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Aug 24, 2006 -> 12:31 AM) I wonder if we are in mack for the righties, anderson for the lefties platoon. Its sad that our backup guys are going to get 300abs this year It's sad that Anderson is the "fall" guy for the offensive struggles.

QUOTE(whitesoxin @ Aug 24, 2006 -> 12:03 AM) Ever since the Astros snapped our 10 game streak after Gooch's 7rbi in the 8th and 9th and the slam, I can't remember a streak larger than 4. Hopefully we can run off 5 starting tonight. That would be sweet. We had a 5 gamer just a few weeks ago (Yanks, Tigers 3 games, KC).

QUOTE(shawnhillegas @ Aug 24, 2006 -> 12:28 AM) Wainright or Reyes? (although i assume it will take more than one year of Buerhle) Those guys are already penciled into their rotation for next year. I also think Reyes is extremely overrated on here (I can see why though after that one outing).
-
That's just terrible by AJP. He seems to simply not care anymore, which is shocking for him.
-
QUOTE(ottawa_sox @ Aug 24, 2006 -> 12:26 AM) Cause that might make them bite on a Buehrle trade in the off-season? They have no one we could realistically trade for though.
-
QUOTE(shawnhillegas @ Aug 24, 2006 -> 12:24 AM) i really hope the cardinals dont make the playoffs Mark Mulder picking up where he left off. I'd love to see the Reds win the division, and the Phils to win the WC. I'll gladly root for the Reds and Griffey Jr. to win the WS if we're not in it.

Ugh...another bad break on the hop. That would have been an easy triple.
-
QUOTE(shawnhillegas @ Aug 24, 2006 -> 12:21 AM) steve stone thinks freddys toast toasted? QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Aug 24, 2006 -> 12:21 AM) Meh. Like Steve Stone knows anything about baseball. It's my personal belief that if the Sox had a bad season in 2005, he would have been the new GM of the Sox.
-
BTW...how far was Chris Young's homer today?
-
QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Aug 24, 2006 -> 12:16 AM) I think that ball Young hit earlier was the hardest hit baseball I've seen all year by an opponent. And that is REALLY saying something this year. The noise that hit made on the radio almost hurt my ears.
-
QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Aug 24, 2006 -> 12:14 AM) Exactly. When I saw him coming out of the dugout, I liked the Sox chances for runs, but then I realized that Jim Leyland doesn't make silly moves like that. I still can't believe we didn't try to actually "upgrade" our 2nd catcher position, especially considering how many tough lefties we have to face. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Aug 24, 2006 -> 12:16 AM) Amazing the Detroit announcers would know Thome suffered a strain is severe enough to be out 4 to 6 weeks before any White Sox announcers do. You friend is BSing you, although I do think Thome is going to be on the shelf for a while. Hopefully no DL. Considering he's missed a few series this year due to minor ailments, that injury looked like the textbook 15 day DL injury. At this point in the season, we should be thankful if Thome only misses 7-10 days.
-
QUOTE(joeynach @ Aug 24, 2006 -> 12:14 AM) My friend watches the sox on directv baseball package in Colorado and said the detroit feed said thome out 4-6 weeks with hamstring strain!! This is huge we need for info pronto!!! Yep...I'm sure they've diagnosed it 20 minutes later.

QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Aug 24, 2006 -> 12:10 AM) 6 runs should be enough to win with an average pitching staff. I was in Detroit last night. Buerhle was horrible, and Detroit fans do not like Maggs, especially when he lost one in the lights and had the ball bounce off his ass. They did offer their support when he made a nice catch later. Its a shame the Sox were able to get the tying run to the plate, but had Alomar bat even though a left hander was on the mound. I think any of the Sox lefties have a better shot against Rogers than Sandy. Leyland did a masterful job at not removing Rogers there. He knew they had a better chance of getting out of that inning with Rogers, even if he wasn't as sharp, facing Sandy than Rodney facing one of our lefties.
