  1. QUOTE(WSoxMatt @ Aug 8, 2006 -> 12:52 AM) Not at all just surprised that a fundamentally sound team like Minny had some bad baserunning Ok, just making sure.
  2. QUOTE(WSoxMatt @ Aug 8, 2006 -> 12:50 AM) Twins crap themselves and get nothing out of a good situation Tigers 4 Twins 3 BOT 7th You seem disappointed by this?
  3. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Aug 8, 2006 -> 12:31 AM) Lose 3-7 mph on a fastball and even Liriano looks hittable. With the lost in velocity also comes less tilt on slider. Less variance on a changeup. Instead of people teasing you about this, they should be optimistic. If Liriano has some lingering elbow problems, it greatly enhances our WC chances.
  4. How does Nick Punto have a .400 OBP? It's amazing how consistent the Twins offense is at putting up a lot of hits every day now. Morneau's been the MVP of the AL over the last two months.
  5. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Aug 8, 2006 -> 12:25 AM) I really can't believe you actually want him. At least he would help our offense against LHP. I'm not as big of a Javy Lopez fan as many on here, but he's definitely an upgrade over Alomar/Widger.
  6. QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ Aug 8, 2006 -> 12:22 AM) this game just has that "look" the post all star game where has my team gone to "look" It's just too damn bad that we didn't add someone to this roster to give us a spark.
  7. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Aug 8, 2006 -> 12:21 AM) At what point in the game should our hitters and our coaching staff recognize that Escobar is pretty much going away away away on our hitters, especially our right handers. He is living and dying on the outside corner and we are gong up there looking like we are shocked to see a slider away. When Buerhle or any of our hitters do it, we get killed because the other team adjusts and attacks to what they are giving them. How about this....the Angels are playing good baseball right now, and the White Sox aren't. We better start playing better baseball, or this week is going to really suck.
  8. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Aug 8, 2006 -> 12:16 AM) Sandy is really affecting Buerhle's performance. I'm glad they found the reason for his struggles, and its even better news it wasn't Buerhle at all, just the guy putting down the numbers. But at least we let the best possible back-up go to our WC rival for virtually nothing.
  9. QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ Aug 8, 2006 -> 12:12 AM) is it just me, or are all the angels swinging like they're trying to take him out of the park? If you were seeing 85 mph fastballs up in the zone, wouldn't you?
  10. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Aug 8, 2006 -> 12:04 AM) The Angels are 14-9 since the Break. They went 8-1 in their 10 games before the break. I could have sworn that ESPN said they had the best month of July in the majors. It seemed odd to me, as the Twins never lose. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Aug 8, 2006 -> 12:08 AM) Sandy-BA-Pods up next inning. Instant f****** offense. First pitch swinging out, first pitch swinging out, 4th pitch swinging grounder to first?
  11. Thome has raised his OBP by over .020 over his last 6 games. That's amazing for this time of the season.
  12. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Aug 8, 2006 -> 12:01 AM) Baserunners, come on 3-4-5, we need to hurt them now. I have trouble believing that, they've basically held steady a few games behind Oakland as far as I can remember for the last month. Maybe gained a game or two. I think they had the best month of July in all of baseball. Juan Rivera has been a stud for them recently.
  13. BTW...real quick note. Escobar would have the best ERA of our starters if he was on the Sox.
  14. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Aug 7, 2006 -> 11:50 PM) The offense looks stellar so far. I wonder how many more RBIs Thome, PK, and Dye could have if our 1-2 hitters were more consistent. Aren't the Angels the best team in baseball over the last month and a half?
  15. It seems like 50 pct of Pods ABs now end in either a called 3rd strike or grounder to first base.
  16. Is Uribe hurt, or is he in the doghouse? I hope it's not the doghouse, as we're a better team with him on the field.
  17. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Aug 7, 2006 -> 09:58 PM) Ok, I should have added that he'd hit run into a few more. He'd hit for a worse average though, that's what I was trying to say. Here's some role reversal. I'm being optimistic about a player, and you're being pessimistic.
  18. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Aug 7, 2006 -> 09:55 PM) He'd be worse, there's really no doubt in my mind. I think Fields could put up better than 4 extra base hits in 62 ABs and have an OPS higher than .550. I really admire the way Anderson is hitting now, because he looked like a little leaguer the first two months of this season. Fields will K a lot, but he does have some pop in his bat.
  19. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Aug 7, 2006 -> 09:45 PM) Do you really think Fields could come up right now and produce? I really don't believe he could, think Brian Anderson in April, but worse at the plate and without the fantastic d. There's not a chance in hell that Fields would be as bad as (April) Anderson was at the plate. If he is, then we really screwed up by not trading him when his value was sky high. His defense isn't good, but neither is Mackowiak or Ozuna at 3B. It's one of the main reasons why Crede is one of our 2 most irreplaceable guys (AJP the other).
  20. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Aug 7, 2006 -> 09:41 PM) Why exactly would people object to Mack being given playing time at 3rd? Fields is supposedly no gold glove winner there, even though he's played that base more lately, and this was I thought one of the big reasons why getting Mack was so important in the offseason. Oh, and if we're talking about winning...let's also note that it would keep Rob Mackowiak out of CF for 15 days, and I can think of few things that would help us more defensively. I'd actually rather see Cintron get more playing time at 3rd base. The more I think about it, the more likely it is we call up another reliever. We play almost a month straight worth of games, and we'll need an extra pitcher. It's too bad we can't work the waiver wire and get someone better than what we have in the minors right now.
  21. This would be the worst possible timing for Crede to go to the DL. I would have to think that Fields might get the call. QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ Aug 7, 2006 -> 09:33 PM) Better now than later I guess. That's a blow, however. In my opinion, later is now! If we tank in the next two weeks, our season is likely over.
  22. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Aug 7, 2006 -> 08:20 PM) Disagreed. Mackowiak may be better in every facet of the game. Here's the thing with Mackowiak. He's extremely, extremely streaky. He's been on a tear for a few months now, but you never know when he's going to bat .100 for an entire month. Just like Ozuna, we can't count on him to keep up his tremendous OBP.
  23. This thread has been as tempting to me as a Snickers is to a fat kid. This is all I'll say about Pods in this thread: he needs to pick his game up, and play better and smarter.
