  1. QUOTE(TitoMB345 @ Aug 6, 2006 -> 05:32 PM) Count looks ON today. Actually, this is a strange looking Contreras. His velocity is down as of right now, and his forkball looks more like a changeup. With his always changing arm angles, it's hard to predict how he's going to look from one batter to the next.
  2. Games at the Cell also start at :07.
  3. So now we know what Crede does on his days off.
  4. Lets get some runs this inning, and give Vazquez some more runs to work with.
  5. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Aug 5, 2006 -> 08:39 PM) I don't want to sound like I'm complaining about a hit, but does anyone else think Crede should've been on third? The base running on this team is all screwed up right now. We're being aggressive when we shouldn't be, and we're not being aggressive when we should be.
  6. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Aug 5, 2006 -> 08:28 PM) Gosh damn. At-bats like THOSE are why I still hold out a little bit of hope for Javy to turn it around. His pure stuff is nasty, and right there, that was a great job of attacking Cat. Couple of fastballs away, good movement to the corner, and that nasty slider down and in to finish him off. :sigh So much f'n potential... And it's why we should do everything in our power to get rid of Garcia in the offseason. Vazquez has been extremely disappointing this year...but at least you can see that he still has the ability to get hitters out without relying on rockets at the fielders.
  7. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Aug 5, 2006 -> 08:25 PM) We had a pitcher on the ropes in the first inning and could of put a 3 to 4 spot up, but thanks to some retarded thoughts we only get one. We've had so many instances this season where we had the chance to break the game wide open in the first inning, but we usually find a way to hit into a double play to prevent the huge inning. In previous games, our pitchers usually have no problem giving that run back right away.
  8. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Aug 5, 2006 -> 08:23 PM) How does a championship level team or a team not named the Royals or Devil Rays make so many fishing dumb base running mistakes. Who the gosh darn sent Thome and why didnt Joey sent him back when it was going to be caught. Nice coaching and nice running. Joey Cora doesn't deserve a job with the Sox next year.
  9. He's been getting burned on his fastball recently. It hasn't had as much "life" as it did a few months ago. I wonder if he'll start to use his cutter more in the future, and leave the 98 mph heater up in the zone as a strike out pitch.
  10. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Aug 5, 2006 -> 04:36 PM) From what I have heard, with Benson not really being in camp this year, and even him admitting that he didnt fit in well with his teammates last season. This year in camp, there have been 4 or 5 different times when the D has popped Benson, alot more than others. All week, the media was reporting that the Bears defense was out to "get" Benson. Thomas Jones is great friends with many of the Bears defensive players, and many of them are upset that Benson was given the starting role. This injury was bound to happen sooner than later with the defense taking all these shots at him.
  11. One of the best wins of the season. Garland made one dumb pitch the whole game. I appreciate what Gload did in the last week, but it's nice to have our 3-4-5 dynasty back.
  12. I wouldn't be shocked to see Thome homer this inning....just throwing that out there.
  13. Impressive by McCarthy. Another run this inning would be very nice.
  14. QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ Aug 5, 2006 -> 01:30 AM) Benson carted off the field. Damn. Wow! Knee? If this was caused by a Bears defensive player being too rough with him, the Bears organization should be ashamed.
  15. That pitcher looked like he could be J. Lackey's twin.
  16. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Aug 5, 2006 -> 01:22 AM) I think its because of Buerhle's much better track record. I was thinking that also. However, I really think a lot of people personally don't like Garland, and it makes them jump on him more (and yes, I know myself and others do this with other players also).
  17. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Aug 5, 2006 -> 01:18 AM) Are the Blue Jays running down the line? The Sox seem a little slow turning the last 2 DPs, and the plays at first haven't been close. I think they have some problems in Toronto. I have the feeling they will have a new manager in 2007. I think we just saw one of the reasons the Blue Jays almost traded Rios last year.
  18. Here's the way I view Garland. He sucked to start the year, and every bad pitch he made was getting hammered (his D didn't do him any favors). Now, he's trusting his sinker more, and he's been our most consistent pitcher the last two months. Buehrle is now in the same funk that Garland was in. However, people generally like Buehrle more than Garland, so they give him a bigger benefit of the doubt.
  19. Would have liked to see the 1-2-3 of our power guys the last 3 innings.
  20. Ugh...that wasn't good. Schilling just made some gutsy pitches for Boston to keep the game tied.
