QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ Aug 2, 2006 -> 12:43 AM) what a great thing it would be for Brian Anderson to get hot at some point in the next two months. It would be nicer to see him improve on his .158 with RISP.
-
The Ozuna magic in the first half of the season would have made that ball drop. Jphat...is he 1 for back from injury?
-
QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 2, 2006 -> 12:39 AM) ^^^^^ He got out in front and tried to pull a meatball changeup.
-
QUOTE(jphat007 @ Aug 2, 2006 -> 12:38 AM) Cmon BA. The next step is getting hits iwth RISP. You've been awesome with nobody on, but gotta start bringing them in. ^^^^^

QUOTE(jphat007 @ Aug 2, 2006 -> 12:37 AM) It's not velocity. It's location. His location is terrible right now. If he gets ahead, he accidently leaves a fastball over the plate. If he's behind 2-1, 3-1, he throws a strike, but not on the corners like he used to, but right down the pipe. Stuff is there, location is not. His ball had a lot of cutting action that inning. The problem was that he tried to throw that fastball to Sanders on the outside corner, but it cut right down the heart of the plate.

QUOTE(champ @ Aug 2, 2006 -> 12:36 AM) More like the wind blew that ball right out of the park... That ball was hit very well. The wind is blowing out from right to left.

Buehrle's in one of those stretches where every bad pitch you make is hammered.

QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Aug 2, 2006 -> 12:34 AM) I thought Sandy got a little more of that... That's all Sandy has now though...but I'll definitely take it.

Sandy! Welcome to the club.

QUOTE(TheBlackSox8 @ Aug 2, 2006 -> 12:32 AM) cooper??? Catchers

Lets get a few runs back. Two smashes by Crede to the opposite field lately is great to see.

I'd just like to know where in our scouting report does it say throw fastballs down the plate to Sanders? That's about the 5th time this season we've just grooved him a fastball over the plate early in the count, and he's crushed it. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Aug 2, 2006 -> 12:30 AM) Last I checked Reggie Sanders is a pretty damn good hitter. He's batting .244 this season.

QUOTE(SoxFan562004 @ Aug 2, 2006 -> 12:28 AM) Real classy of Hawk to basically blame that HR on Iguchi, even though MB was the one who laid that pitch over the middle of the plate Maybe we'll have to replace Iguchi with Buehrle's personal 2nd baseman for the rest of the season. The wind blowing out can't be good for Buehrle's confidence. QUOTE(brijames @ Aug 2, 2006 -> 12:28 AM) Ok it's official! MB is done! Wow, quite the quick hook.

Sanders continues to kill us this season as we keep challenging him with fastballs.
-
QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Aug 2, 2006 -> 12:26 AM) Tough play but one that needs to be made. The past few years, the KC infield has been super fast. Iguchi's inability to make the play results in 2 runs.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Aug 2, 2006 -> 12:24 AM) Got him in one of them pre-deadline deals for Elmer Dessens, along with a couple minor league guys and some cash. Hoping he can regain some form, I guess. Has put up an ERA around 3 in the NL before. Excellent trade for the Royals. Since the Dodgers picked up some of his contract, he's a low risk, high reward caliber starter.
-
This is a much better KC lineup tonight than what they had on the field last night.
-
We didn't pick up his fastball at all that inning. Perez looked pretty good though. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Aug 2, 2006 -> 12:20 AM) Huh? Something else wrong with him? You hate to see these type of things start popping up around each other. Hopefully he'll be fine for this weekend.
-
Thome out with back spasms?
-
Wind blowing out to left tonight. It's going to be a long night for at least one of these pitchers. Last time Ozuna played in this outfield with it being windy, he had a terrible defensive night.

Great little 2005 video on WCIU.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Aug 1, 2006 -> 11:54 PM) Det. puts up a 5 spot in the 2nd. 5-2. You have to love Kazmir being unable to pitch in the last week against the Yanks and Tigers.

QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Aug 1, 2006 -> 09:10 PM) What about steroids -- those are substances he might've abused, and that I think are very possible. His velocity's been going down year after year, and he's in the prime of his career, too, age-wise. I didn't say that heavy pot use diminished your ability, on its own. All I said was that the whole Garcia package is rotten, and coupled with the pot use there are some seriously problems. And, for anyone who is saying that he's hurt, might've thrown his arm out, or simply had a "lazy" offseason, I don't think that's the case. His velocity is gone for good. I would have had absolutely no issue with your argument if you stated it this way.

QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Aug 1, 2006 -> 08:57 PM) Whatever it was, Garcia should be ashamed at what he's done to himself. Maybe Garcia threw his arm out last year? We have absolutely no clue what has happened to his fastball. Those are pretty strong words for someone who's pitching for your favorite team. There have been hundreds of other professional athletes who have ruined their careers with substance abuse. Garcia is definitely not one of them. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Aug 1, 2006 -> 09:00 PM) Normally I'd agree with that sentiment, but when what he does in his free time has made him into a mediocrity, there're some problems. Here's a question...how about some of the great players in the league who are doing worse drugs in the offseason? If heavy pot use diminished an athlete's ability as much as you believe, every player in the NBA would look like Shawn Kemp now.
