  1. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jul 29, 2006 -> 09:08 PM) I am still trying to figure out how the rookie got out of the top half of this inning without getting destroyed. He had nothing but a medicore fastball. He threw a hanging curve for a strike, and managed to get out of it with only giving up one run. Jon on the other side, decided to forget that he is good when he throws strikes, but not high ones. Hopefully he will take off the ruby slippers for the rest of the game. Terrible base running. We've made more outs on the bases in the last month than we did all last year.
  2. A little late, but could have been worse.
  3. Dear White Sox starting pitchers: Please don't be afraid to get a strike out or double play when the other team is threatening. Thanks, Fathom
  4. QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ Jul 29, 2006 -> 09:05 PM) i'm also blacked out -- is garland pitching that bad? Yep....he's given up 3 hits with 2 strikes on the batter. Everything he throws is up in the zone. Our strategy on the field has left a lot to be desired also.
  5. QUOTE(KJean @ Jul 29, 2006 -> 09:01 PM) Stupid blackout restrictions...I don't know what the hell is going on... Consider yourself lucky you can't see this.
  6. Just a brutal start for Garland so far. He needs a double play drastically.
  7. Can we have a mulligan? It's amazing how easily teams circle the bases on us. Garland's about to put us in a huge hole, and it all started cause he made a terrible 0-2 pitch to the leadoff hitter.
  8. Wow do we look slow out there. Someone please explain to me why the SS is covering 2nd base on an inside fastball? That's BAD baseball.
  9. QUOTE(Reddy @ Jul 29, 2006 -> 08:52 PM) cora's gotta chill a bit I just don't understand how he seems to be more aggressive when we're trailing, but not when we're winning. That situation was a lot better to take a chance with Dye at the plate than some of his recent decisions when we were down by 3 runs.
  10. QUOTE(soxunited @ Jul 29, 2006 -> 08:51 PM) Good job AJ 1 run in wtf Dye? what was that? That's not Dye's fault at all.
  11. Some more terrible base running by the Sox. Cora can't keep waving these guys, and then hold them at the last second. How are we not able to score from 2nd on a 2 out hit?
  12. It would be great to get a 2 out RBI early in the game. This guy is definitely not overpowering.
  13. So far, he looks like a Sox pitching prospect. His fastball is in the high 80s, and he hasn't shown control of his curve. He seems to have some sinking action on his fastball. Hopefully our hitters go with some of the pitches to the opposite field.
  14. QUOTE(Reddy @ Jul 29, 2006 -> 08:40 PM) whoa scotty with a long ab! With this guy, there's no worry about getting his pitch count up. You just hope they can do some damage and capitalize on bad pitches.
  15. QUOTE(Chet Lemon @ Jul 29, 2006 -> 06:31 PM) What would it take for the Sox to trade for Carl Crawford? I am thinking they should try to pull this in the offseason as he won't be available now: Vazquez-Starting pitching is a huge need for T.B. Vazquez's best years were w/ small market Montreal, so he could be more successful in Tampa than NY and Chicago. Further, NY and AZ are still paying part of his contract, so it wouldn't be a substantial salary increase. Podsednik-OK, this would break hearts, but we need the upgrade. With the forgone conclusion that Lugo will be gone plus the trading of Gathright, TB will benefit from Pods' ability to steal bases. In addition, he can hit leadoff for them. Also, not a big salary for Tampa to take on. Like Vazquez, he is another veteran teams would like to have. Rogowski-With a logjam at 1b, it only makes sense to move the best 1b prospect in the Sox system. He is going to be 26 next season, leads the Charlotte Knights in RBI's, can play 3b, and is ready to start for a big league team. Unless they have someone better, and last time I checked they were running Travis Lee (who is awful) out as their first baseman, he would be an immediate part of their lineup. If the Sox gave up the aforementioned players, would it be enough to get Crawford? Could they also get another minor-leaguer in the deal as well? This would be a tremendous upgrade for the Sox. It also allows the team to set up their rotation w/ Mac in it. Crawford is very young, and I believe his best years are in front of him w/ a new team. Tampa would hang up the phone and probably never talk to KW again. The last thing Tampa wants is an overpriced pitcher like Vazquez, a medicore outfielder, and an aging corner infielder prospect. If we wanted Crawford, we'd have to start with a package like McCarthy, Fields, and Tracey. Tampa doesn't need to add any speed...they have plenty with Baldelli, Upton, and Young in their system.
  16. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Jul 29, 2006 -> 06:11 PM) I'm gonna start the "daily interview from under the bus" thread. Guaranteed to have a different guest daily. That's actually a pretty funny, but sadly accurate, idea.
  17. A 3 week bad stretch, and you want to get rid of him? He's not going anywhere.
  18. Why do people think we'd get more for Fields than just Linebrink?
  19. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jul 29, 2006 -> 03:18 PM) The Red Sox already have a catcher that can catch knuckleballs. Just saying...wishing mostly. A Garcia for Crisp trade would be one of my favorite transactions ever by the White Sox.
  20. 3 different spellings of his name in this tread, and not one is right. It's MacDougal.
  21. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Jul 29, 2006 -> 03:11 PM) Amen. It only took 22 posts for someone to figure this out: "I wouldn't want to trade anyone to the Red Sox. Not when you consider that the Sox might see them in the post-season." If we traded Garcia for him, I would be more than happy to have to face him in the postseason.
  22. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Jul 29, 2006 -> 01:08 PM) I wouldnt give up any of those players alone for Soriano... well maybe Lacky but none of the others. Lackey might be the best of the bunch. He's one of 4 pitchers in baseball to have under a 3 ERA from last year's ASB to this year's ASB.
  23. Fields has been working out in the outfield recently, FWIW.
  24. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Jul 29, 2006 -> 05:17 AM) That would make the Sox pen 7 deep, and I think would be the precursor to another move. If it allowed us to do Garcia for Crisp, I'd be for it then.
