The Yankees just had no problem putting up a 4 spot in the 8th inning. 6 more outs, and we're behind in the Wild Card standings.
-
I know that KW probably leaked some information to try and get the Tigers to give up more for Soriano, but I really wonder how much these rumors have effected the ball club this week?
-
QUOTE(Jimbo @ Jul 27, 2006 -> 12:41 AM) or no one wants to help the desperate world champs. I think general managers are salivating at the idea of KW being in panic mode and desperate in the days leading up to the trade deadline.
-
The way things are going, I think we all know the Twins will sweep.
-
If McCarthy would have started all of Vazquez's games this year, we'd have a better record than 11-8. We've scored a ton of runs in those games, and Vazquez's implosions really hurt our chances to win the game.
-
It's not exactly as humorous as DJ saying last year "Pods wear rubbers (cleats) so that he can dig deeper into the dirt".
-
QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jul 26, 2006 -> 10:27 PM) He 2 hit Boston in Boston and basically did the same thing to Texas in Texas. Yep, and that was after the rest of our starters got knocked around by them. That Rangers game he won us ended a stretch of terrible games for the Sox.
-
I said this before the year, and it's more accurate now than ever before: if the main 5 starting pitchers on this Sox team struggle this year, we're not making the playoffs. McCarthy's not going to get moved into the rotation, end of story. When we acquired Vazquez (and re-signed JG/JC), McCarthy's 2006 season was spoiled. BTW, a handful of McCarthy's great starts last year were against teams that the rest of our pitching staff really struggled against.
-
QUOTE(Frankensteiner @ Jul 26, 2006 -> 09:47 PM) I'm so sick of hearing that. McCarthy would need like 3 starts to get stretched. You can 40 ---> 60 ---> 80 pitches in consecutive starts. We know what's going on though. Ozzie's playing favorites with his latin buddies. Actually, McCarthy said it himself. He said it would take about 4 starts to get stretched out. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jul 26, 2006 -> 09:50 PM) How does everyone conclude McCarthy can only go a couple of innings? Didn't he make over 80 pitches in his one start? It wouldn't be long before he got that up to 100. I'd actually love to see Vazquez pulled after 80. Its like after midnight with him. Nothing good happens to Javier Vazquez after 80 pitches. After 75 pitches, he has something like 35 ER allowed in 30 innings.

QUOTE(Harry&JimmyRocked @ Jul 26, 2006 -> 09:52 PM) this is one of the dumbest statements i've ever read HOW DARE THOSE FANS AID US IN HAVING A 100 MILLION DOLLAR PAYROLL!
-
QUOTE(JimH @ Jul 26, 2006 -> 09:35 PM) What exactly do you expect him to say? "We're going to trade every player, I'm going to talk to Kenny right now, that is after I talk to everyone at SoxTalk to see who we should trade. But we're keeping McCarthy and we're putting him in the rotation, even though he can throw a max of probably 50 pitches right now." He was praising the Twins and basically saying they kicked the White Sox' butts. And I'm sure he will say other things to the team that he didn't say to the post game media. I don't know what people are expecting him to say in these postgame interviews. Barring a trade, we all now McCarthy isn't going into the rotation anytime soon. Some people expect an Ozzie rant where every other word is a swear. We don't need a rant....we need execution. Our pitchers can't get a crucial out to save their lives, and our hitters can't get a hit with 2 outs and RISP. It's comical, in a bad way, how the Twins scored all their runs with 2 outs today. They're playing great right now, and we suck. We could play them 10 straight games, and they'd probably beat us 8 times right now. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jul 26, 2006 -> 09:39 PM) Well we need to sweep the Royals. And before someone pipes up with they are still a major league team, and they play better at home. No they are bad. Teams all over baseball are beating the ever living snot out of them. Bedard will own us tomorrow night. I've heard that Sweeney might be back for our series. Bedard and his damn food poisoning puts us in a hole for Friday.
-
QUOTE(AbeFroman @ Jul 26, 2006 -> 09:16 PM) Can you imagine how bad this would feel if we hadn't won the world series last year? Think of how miserable you would feel if we got so close last year, had great expectations coming into this season that we would finally win one, and then this happens. So i guess it could be worse. 2005, the greatest year of my life.... (although junior year of college was pretty close too) Absolutely correct. I made this same point yesterday. This sucks right now, but it is 100 times easier to take after what happened last year.
-
The worst thing about this game was that it bumped "What I Like About You" from the schedule. I would rather watch Amanda Bynes than this team right now.
-
QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Jul 26, 2006 -> 09:10 PM) Who gives a fish about attendance? This team has bigger fish to fry. I know what you mean, but attendance in baseball is still very vital. Since our payroll is determined by it, it'll be nice to see packed houses the rest of the way.
-
It was scary, but the biggest Sox homer in the world, Hawk Harrelson, had a definite tone of "we're done". He's even been bringing up how everything fell into place for the team last year.
-
QUOTE(shawnhillegas @ Jul 26, 2006 -> 09:00 PM) yeah, and they should have acquired santana, liriano and kazmir back when they were available for so little. hindsight is awesome. Yeah...since there was NO ONE on this site who said that it was a dumb trade.
-
QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Jul 26, 2006 -> 08:59 PM) It's just a slump guys. We did it last year and we can do it again. Are you IN or are you OUT?!? Is this a question for Lance Bass?
-
QUOTE(CWSOX45 @ Jul 26, 2006 -> 08:57 PM) awful. the only one on this team with stones right now is garland. And Garcia....oh wait, I thought it read stoned.

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jul 26, 2006 -> 08:58 PM) GRINDER RULE NUMBER 201 CORPSEBALL IS A SUMMER TRADITION
-
When one guy is red hot and has over 80 RBI on the season, and the guy after him is batting .215, you might want to be careful.
-
QUOTE(SoxHawk1980 @ Jul 26, 2006 -> 08:30 PM) We've got a guy that good in the bullpen who is ready to dominate as a starter. (even though he can't dominate as a middle reliever) I said I was going to stay out of this thread, but I just wanted to comment on this. McCarthy isn't a fire-baller who can come out of the pen and dominate (like Zumaya). Rather, he's a "feel" pitcher, and his change-up and curve have been nowhere near as effective as it was when he was a starter. He's not a reliever, and I believe it's been very mentally challenging for him this season.
-
The dumbest thing the Sox did this season was trade for Vazquez. McCarthy should have been in the rotation this entire season.
-
Looks like I'm not posting in the game threads for the rest of the weekend. Good job boys!
-
QUOTE(Felix @ Jul 26, 2006 -> 07:14 PM) It was a 2 run shot. Why the hell are you being negative about a positive thing for the White Sox?

There's a start.
