  1. He'll be on second shortly. Sandy seems to be calling for a ton of fastballs so far against the lefties.
  2. That didn't take very long. I don't know what the hell Contreras is doing with his arm angle, but he looks terrible.
  3. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jul 26, 2006 -> 12:27 AM) If I recall correctly, back in 04, Carlos Lee hit a 2 out homer in the first in a Santana vs. Garland game, and that was all Garland needed. That was a great game. We swept that series....and still got destroyed by the Twins in the 2nd half.
  4. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Jul 26, 2006 -> 12:24 AM) Pods takes close calls. He doesn't stare down the middle of the plate very often, and that's a stretch. He takes more than his fair share of pitches right down the plate. He often guesses on pitches with two strikes, and he'll take a lot of curves right down the plate.
  5. Wow! It didn't even look like he hit that well. There's your run Contreras....go get 'em.
  6. Ozuna chases strike 3. A 4th outfielder can't get here soon enough, or a LF upgrade.
  7. QUOTE(illinilaw08 @ Jul 26, 2006 -> 12:17 AM) I dont understand the shots at Sandy here, it's not like AJ or the Widge threw out many runners... ever... especially with Contreras on the mound. Which is why many of us were hoping for an upgrade in that aspect. A defensive specialist would have been very nice, especially when the rosters expand.
  8. Well...we dodged a huge bullet. Great job!
  9. Quick observation, but Contreras' arm angle is very odd right now. His delivery seems slower, and he's not getting as much velocity.
  10. Big pitch there. Morneau is a HUGE batter in this game. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jul 26, 2006 -> 12:13 AM) Contreras isn't exactly Buehrle when it comes to holding runners on, not eveyrhting is on Alomar. Alomar keeps the WP total at 0 today and I'll be happy with his defense. It's just that when you have a catcher who's thrown one guy out in the last year, teams are going to be even more aggressive.
  11. Can we have a mulligan? It's amazing to see what you can accomplish when you don't bunt a run over early in the game.
  12. QUOTE(ottawa_sox @ Jul 26, 2006 -> 12:08 AM) I thought he was missing plays down the line to his right. It just seems like he's been deflecting a lot of balls that he normally would have got to. And just like that, the Twins have a great chance to take an early lead.
  13. I'm so glad we brought in the defensive stopper.
  14. Terrible start. Crede's missed more plays to his left in the last month than I can ever remember.
  15. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Jul 25, 2006 -> 11:57 PM) I can't understand how only we play bad against Cleveland. Cause they're a very good hitting team, and they got fortunate enough to face Freddy quite a few times this year. Also, we've struggled against C.C. and Westbrook.
  16. This slump is a hell of a lot easier to take knowing I can pop in the 2005 Sox World Series DVD whenver I want.
  17. QUOTE(soxpride77 @ Jul 25, 2006 -> 09:19 PM) I am more inclined to believe Kurkijian than Stark. Stark is the best in baseball. His reports have been much more detailed than Tim K.'s, including how much Soriano is looking for as a FA.
  18. BTW, when I first came on this site about 10 minutes ago, I thought the deal was done due to the headline "Soriano to the White Sox".
  19. QUOTE(Jake @ Jul 25, 2006 -> 09:15 PM) Fields can be thought of as a toolsy player. Seeing as he is likely athletically capable to play a few positions. I don't mind parting with Fields however, if we can keep a 100% proven impact player like Soriano long-term. Exactly. Fields' stock will never be higher than it is right now. It's too bad the Nats have Zimmerman there already. However, I don't want to see both Broadway and Sweeney included in this deal.
  20. If we were to trade Pods and some prospects for Soriano (not named Fields or Broadway), I woudn't even be too upset if we couldn't re-sign him. That way, we'd be starting fresh with a new left fielder, and I highly doubt it would be anyone from our system. It's too bad we don't have any real "toolsy" outfielders in our system, as everyone knows Bowden loves those type of guys.
  21. This isn't a shocker at all. HR was notorious for being overly "friendly" towards female workers.
  22. QUOTE(CWSOX45 @ Jul 25, 2006 -> 04:57 PM) At this point with how we are playing, it might not matter by this weekend if the Tigers get Soriano. We could be over 10 games out if we don't get our spiff together....which makes me want to vomit...A LOT. I've given up on the Tigers for now. They're playing just too damn good, and they've shown no signs all season of slowing down. The Twins and the Yankees are the main competition we should be worried about right now.
  23. I have a feeling there's going to be a lot of pissed off people if Soriano ends up getting traded to the Tigers in the next week. So many people got their hopes up, and they never took a step back to realize how a trade like this would really work out for the Sox.
  24. QUOTE(Frankensteiner @ Jul 25, 2006 -> 02:56 PM) I will disagree with you here. If a team can support a $100 million payroll, then I don't think you have a window. You should stay competetive every year. The window is based more upon other teams in our division, and their young players reaching their peak. We're not exactly a young team right now.
  25. QUOTE(rowand @ Jul 25, 2006 -> 04:47 PM) anyone have what stark had to say on insider, it says on the headline he isn't so sure the sox are getting AS. Basically that Soriano would want about 5 yrs/65 million to re-sign. Also, sources tell him McCarthy and Fields wouldn't be in the deal. The Sox are definitely interested, but it's not close to being "extremely close".
