  1. It's amazing how station-to-station we've become. I understand a lot of it is due to players not executing, but it's been disturbing to see how slow we look as a team.
  2. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jul 20, 2006 -> 07:21 PM) Our leadoff spot is now 0/13 this series. 2 for 33
  3. QUOTE(AbeFroman @ Jul 20, 2006 -> 07:19 PM) Wow.... as I look back through this thread, its like 65% widger bashing 10% Ozzie bashing (for playing widger) and the rest general commentary on the game. I'm beginning to think that some of you don't think Chris widger should be playing And what a shocker, Widger has sucked today.
  4. One thing I've noticed all year is that Thome doesn't get the favorable calls at the plate like a lot of other superstars in this league.
  5. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jul 20, 2006 -> 06:44 PM) Oh, I figured it out. We WANT to lose. Do we have a hit from our 1-2 hitters this series?
  6. QUOTE(Felix @ Jul 20, 2006 -> 06:40 PM) Are you kidding? Soriano's defense is on Pablo's level.. Actually, people have been pleasantly surprised with his defense this year. At least he has the ability to throw runners out on the bases.
  7. Ozzie continues to look like a genius with his lineups. It's too bad we can't make a run after Soriano.
  8. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jul 20, 2006 -> 06:03 PM) Stupid. Why does Ichuchi who is a dangerous hitter, bunt in the first inning, and a guy like Widger who has been looking for a hit longer than The Go Go's, doesn't. Failing to bunt there cost the Sox a run. Our managing has sucked since the start of the Boston series. Kudos to Leyland for playing his starters all 3 games this series.
  9. QUOTE(EvilJester99 @ Jul 20, 2006 -> 04:50 AM) Javy reminds me a lot of how Freddy was when he first got here...something not go right and it pisses him off then his focus goes to spiff and gets himself killed. He certainly has the stuff to be a big time pitcher but not the mental makeup as of yet.... He's the exact replica of the myth known as "Judy Garland".
  10. Supposedly, Cooper told Mike North to stop worrying about the starting pitching, as they're doing their job by winning games.
  11. I like Hawk a lot more when he's not trying to make excuses. He was awesome on Sunday against the Yankees. Not so much during the 6th inning tonight. I can't believe he implied that Uribe made the wrong play going home with that grounder.
  12. The thing is, Pods is even more worthless against the Tigers because he's not going to be stealing against IRod.
  13. Widger's playing tomorrow, according to Mike North.
  14. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jul 20, 2006 -> 01:54 AM) Who's complaining about the bullpen? from what I've seen people have been praising the pen of late and rightfully so. Every trade scenario people suggest, it always includes things about how bad our bullpen is, etc.
  15. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Jul 20, 2006 -> 01:51 AM) Our pen isn't 1/10th the issue our rotation is right now. How many leads has our pen had to blow? Not many, since the starters (especially Javy) get f***ed up. Javy has to go, and I don't GAF if it hurts the bullpen. Maybe if our starters would go 6 or 7 and only give up 2 or 3 runs, the pen wouldn't be exposed so much. I can't believe the amount of s*** our bullpen is giving now. For the last month or so, they've been excellent. I wish Ozzie had as much confidence in them as he does the starters.
  16. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Jul 20, 2006 -> 01:49 AM) Garica won that Cards game 1-0 with only one hit. Great call, thanks
  17. How about Vazquez just earn his salary and get a big out or two? I'm the first to jump on Ozzie's case about something (STOP PUTTING MACKOWIAK IN CF), but this wasn't his fault.
  18. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Jul 20, 2006 -> 01:47 AM) I wouldn't take Rogers (I think he's getting close to have the Sox are paying for Jazy) over Vazquez in the second half. Rogers is the type of pitcher who will do just enough to win. He reminds me of Garcia in past years.
  19. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jul 20, 2006 -> 01:45 AM) Tigers win...Sox lost after having one rough inning. Rubber game of the series tomorrow and it'll be a huge game. You know if the Tigers go on to do big things, Monroe's grandslam could be looked at as one of the key moments of the season. if the Sox go out tomorrow and take care of business, we could make it just another hit. I said it after it happened, that Monroe's homer was probably their biggest hit in 20 years.
  20. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Jul 20, 2006 -> 01:43 AM) Not gonna win many like that. You're good with stats...when's the last time we won a game like 2-1 (pitching literally won us the game).
  21. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jul 20, 2006 -> 01:41 AM) Haven't had a hit since the 5th...lets change that Paulie. Bonderman, Verlander, Zumaya, Sanchez, A. Miller = f***ing ridiculous
  22. QUOTE(Frankensteiner @ Jul 20, 2006 -> 01:38 AM) That's a f***ing terrible AB there. What is he thinking? A 3-run HR with no one on base? Hard to complain about Thome. It's not like he dropped his back shoulder and popped up. Just a tremendous job by Leyland of not going by the book (when your closer sucks). If your closer is good, he should start the inning, and if he blows it, you tip your cap.
  23. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jul 20, 2006 -> 01:37 AM) Part of pitching a good game and earning your $12 million a year is making a good pitch with the bases loaded and your team leading by a run. Vazquez didn't do it. Yep, it's amazing some of the stuff I'm reading. Vazquez seriously is "Judy Garland" at his worst right now.
  24. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Jul 20, 2006 -> 01:36 AM) f*** you Leyland. Put in your closer. Whenever Ozzie does this, the lefty walks the first batter.
  25. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jul 20, 2006 -> 01:30 AM) Widger has been beyond brutal. Game calling is only part of his weakness. I seriously can't remember the last time Widger got a hit. But get this....he's playing tomorrow!
