  1. What an excellent analysis of the pathetic managing job which was the 8th inning tonight.
  2. There comes a point where you realize a team has "it". It was obvious early on last season that the White Sox had "it". I'm ready to proclaim that the Tigers have "it" this season.
  3. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Jul 15, 2006 -> 02:12 AM) I know 4 teams in our division that wouldnt be sad to see him go either. thankfully he is not going anywhere for awhile. And at least one player in the division. Poor Matt Stairs....Ozzie's the only manager in baseball still worried about facing him.
  4. Thought some of the posters in here would find this interesting....on the post game show on Comcast, they just reported the NY Daily News rumor about the Sox shopping Garcia or Vaz. With the way the Sox organization works, they wouldn't be having Comcast state this unless there was something to it.
  5. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Jul 15, 2006 -> 02:03 AM) I know 25 people in our clubhouse that would be. They aren't very important compared with the fans though. 24......McCarthy would probably be doing cartwheels I agree with you though.....it's not even worth discussing.
  6. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jul 15, 2006 -> 02:01 AM) I would not be upset if the White Sox were to replace their manager some time in the near future. It's not happening any time soon, so we just have to get used to the way he manages. I'm just happy that he managed very well in the postseason last year (outside of letting Hermanson face Lane in Game 3).
  7. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Jul 15, 2006 -> 01:59 AM) For future reference: Times when it's OK to use 4 pitchers in an inning: NEVER /thank you. I wish we could have a defensive outfielder substitute like B. Crosby. We have enough lefties on the bench. It would have been nice to have a good righty hitter come off the bench to face Rivera.
  8. With the new rules in place, why can't the game threads be opened longer? It gives a lot of posters a good place to discuss what happened in the game, and other tidbits.
  9. Could have been a lot worse. It was a prime situation for a called 3rd strike.
  10. Assuming we lose, Widger now has a 4 game winless streak going.
  11. QUOTE(Brian @ Jul 15, 2006 -> 01:37 AM) Agreed, he pitched over Ozuna's misplay but Dye not getting to that ball hurt, mixed with the umpire's blindness that one inning. I really hope that Dye's just a little injured right now, because if this is the speed he's going to go at in the outfield, it's really going to hurt our pitchers.
  12. QUOTE(SoxHawk1980 @ Jul 15, 2006 -> 01:36 AM) Too true. His in-game decision making is awful. This guy needs a good bench coach who he'll actually listen to. Of course, Ozzie doesn't listen to anyone. I just can't stand how stationary we've become on offense. The way he handled extra innings against Boston was pathetic. We can't keep sitting around waiting for the 3 run homer, especially against good pitching.
  13. QUOTE(TitoMB345 @ Jul 15, 2006 -> 01:34 AM) I don't really think 4 ER over 7 is "solid". Neither is 2+ ER in .2 IP by the bullpen. Unless you mean we ran into some solid pitching... Against the Yankees, I'll take Contreras start every time. He didn't get a lot of help from the umpires/defense tonight.
  14. I really feel awful for Brandon McCarthy sometimes.
  15. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Jul 15, 2006 -> 01:31 AM) This was one of those games. Awful ump, lots of bloops. What can you do? HOpe Mark pitches a great game tomorrow. We got solid pitching tonight. We only made solid contact on one of the numerous hangers thrown by Randy Johnson tonight. We could have done a lot more damage.
  16. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Jul 15, 2006 -> 01:30 AM) His streak lasted a lot longer than it should have to be honest. He had an awful June. Since I could care less about personal records, maybe this might get him going again. He definitely should have lost this streak a few times in the last couple of months.
  17. QUOTE(quickman @ Jul 15, 2006 -> 01:30 AM) lets hope detriot wins, we cannot hang with the big boys Which is why I'm all in favor of a blockbuster trade right now for any superstar. When you have to scratch and claw to barely beat the Red Sox at home, it should signal something.
  18. Nice piece of making contact by Cabrera. Ozzie completely over-managed this inning.
  19. QUOTE(Felix @ Jul 15, 2006 -> 01:27 AM) So basically, he's prone to some wildness No, I mean he has some wildness for the first few batters he'll face. He usually settles down if he faces more than a few batters.
  20. Cotts scares me in these situations, as he's prone to some wildness when he comes out of the pen. Great job there by McCarthy.
  21. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Jul 15, 2006 -> 01:22 AM) OH well, all these bloopers this ear and a return for last year. Seems like it rarely happened last year. Cmon Bmac. Great point. Remember the Bernie line out to win at Yankee Stadium last year, followed by Cano flying out at the fence in extra innings?
  22. QUOTE(EvilMonkey @ Jul 15, 2006 -> 01:21 AM) Why is he changing pitchers because the Yankme's bring in some scrub right handed batter? I hate 'by the book' moves sometimes. Especially since McCarthy is a fly ball pitcher. Thornton would have given us our best chance at a strike out. I don't like our chances in a game where Ozzie has to match wits with Torre.
  23. QUOTE(Reddy @ Jul 15, 2006 -> 01:20 AM) its frustrating cuz that last pitch woulda been a strike to thome Or maybe Widger should have framed it better? He caught that ball shifting inside, and brought the ball call because of it. QUOTE(Reddy @ Jul 15, 2006 -> 01:22 AM) This conversation happened a few pages ago. how bout you go read and leave us to bases loaded no outs in the 8th with BMAC coming in. Thanks, nice talking to ya. :headshake
