Ugh...I hate Crede's protect swing in that situation.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jul 8, 2006 -> 07:38 PM) Wouldn't today be Garland's normal day to throw between starts? He's getting some work in. YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
QUOTE(whitesoxin @ Jul 8, 2006 -> 07:37 PM) I'm not so sure that's a good thing. Probably means B-Mac has some sort of emergency and has to leave the game, don't you think? Nope, Ozzie said he might use a starter out of the bullpen this wknd.
-
QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Jul 8, 2006 -> 07:35 PM) I'm just saying that those of you who want to jump off a bridge in tears because our pitching doesn't pitch like Roger Clemens at his best every single night are so melodramatic. Yep, way to go from one extreme to another. We're not demanding 1.50 ERAs from our starting pitchers.
-
Garland in the bullpen? Maybe it's just me, but I think that's unnecessary. Not only that, but he looked rather uncomfortable out there. We need to get rid of Politte ASAP, and get another righty up that we can pitch in close games.
-
QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Jul 8, 2006 -> 07:32 PM) Nobody is jumping off a bridge. But I'm not being a blind homer, either. How can one not be concerned with Freddy Garcia right now? Now, I agree that saying s*** like "he sucks" or "trade him for a bag of popcorn" is going overboard. I wonder if he knows you're usually one of the more optimistic posters.

QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Jul 8, 2006 -> 07:30 PM) What are you talking about? He's prophesizing doom over the rotation. All I'm saying is, if he feels the need to blow the team up and trash the pitching and talk about how poor our rotation is, he can feel free to hop off that bridge but I'm not joining him there. Telling anyone to hop off a bridge, even when kidding around, is just stupid. I'm sure he doesn't give a flying f*** what you think about the rotation. No one in this thread has said to blow the team up, besides your misguided attempt at humor.

QUOTE(South Side Fireworks Man @ Jul 8, 2006 -> 07:30 PM) Not true. Umm....yes it is
-
QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Jul 8, 2006 -> 07:28 PM) Fine, go jump off the bridge because of the rotation. Man, someone got to you today. I know it's ironic to hear this from me, but calm down.

QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jul 8, 2006 -> 07:28 PM) We're losing again. Pods with a sissy girl throw, and Riske I guess is really bad in close games. It's amazing how deep Pods plays.
-
Riske pitched like a pussy to Cora, and it cost us. Francona is managing a great game so far.
-
Riske really nibbled to Cora there. Not what you want to see against the 9 hitter.
-
QUOTE(BFirebird @ Jul 8, 2006 -> 07:17 PM) Definitely..and name a 4 man rotation that you would rather have going in to the playoffs? Santana, Liriano, Radke, whoever Zito, Haren, Harden, Blanton

QUOTE(TitoMB345 @ Jul 8, 2006 -> 07:16 PM) How are you not? What has he done to make us believe otherwise? McCarthy grew up a starter, and it's hard to convert. And don't give me that "Cotts did it" crap, because, yes, it can happen, but its VERY hard. And as a filler for the bullpen, we could trade some prospects to the Cubs for one of their good relievers. Maybe Hermanson will come back strong? I don't know. From the day it was announced, I argued that McCarthy's pitch repetoire wasn't suited for the bullpen. He's unable to keep a good feel for his offspeed stuff out of the bullpen.

QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jul 8, 2006 -> 07:15 PM) If someone showed you what the White Sox offensive numbers would be at the All Star break back before the season started, what kind of odds would you have given that the Tigers wouldn't have a 2 game lead over them? It's funny, but I thought THE SAME FREAKING THING after Thome hit that homer.
-
QUOTE(Heads22 @ Jul 8, 2006 -> 07:14 PM) Jim Thome .300 30 HR 76 RBI I think we would have been happy if we got that out of him in a full season. It's July 8th. Well said

Great job by Pods! Boy, these hitters/pitchers are making this park seem real small today.
-
QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Jul 8, 2006 -> 07:10 PM) And what the hell are we gonna get back from the Mets that could help us? Lastings Milledge
-
QUOTE(Heads22 @ Jul 8, 2006 -> 07:10 PM) I still don't feel too bad going into the playoffs with a 1-2-3 of Count, Buehrle and Garland. I feel at least Jon can come back this year. All that matters is getting to the playoffs. From there, anything can happen.
-
QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jul 8, 2006 -> 07:09 PM) So, based on that criterion, we should trade Javier Vazquez for Josh Beckett. Can we!!!!!
-
QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jul 8, 2006 -> 07:08 PM) Freddy at 95 pitches. Hopefully Ozzie won't leave him in until he gives up 8 runs, because his ERA is at 4.91. The Sox may actually have 60% of the greatest rotation ever with ERAs over 5.00 at the All Star break. With the strong hitting teams we face after the ASB, he'll be over 5 in no time.
-
QUOTE(Frankensteiner @ Jul 8, 2006 -> 07:05 PM) Vazquez and Garcia can't start a playoff game. We NEED a starter... it's so ridiculously obvious. Who the f*** cares about our playoff rotation right now. We're not going to trade for a starting pitcher!!!! When you have nearly 50 million locked up in your rotation this year, if they're not good enough to make the playoffs, YOU DON'T DESERVE TO MAKE IT!
-
QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jul 8, 2006 -> 07:04 PM) #4 in the AL? I take it that's ERA by starting pitcher? Weren't we #2 in the AL a few weeks ago?
-
QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jul 8, 2006 -> 07:02 PM) There really never was a doubt. Our starters are just plain not very good. Nope. It's a marvel we're going to be up at least 4 games on the playoffs at the ASB with the way our starting pitching has been this season.
-
QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Jul 8, 2006 -> 06:51 PM) No. Im happy with what we have. I'm sorry, but I couldn't disagree more. I watch those guys, and I don't know how anyone hits them. I watch Garcia, and I wonder how he gets anyone out.
