Kenny's thoughts on Ozzie and possible consequences
fathom replied to WSoxMatt's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE(rangercal @ Jun 25, 2006 -> 06:51 PM) I hold nothing back on my rants. Personally , the more I think about it. I don't want Ozzie or Kenny gone. I want to keep a good thing going. I just don't agree with throwing your managers name out there to the hungry east coast bias media. Kenny should know better. Championship teams can easily be broken up because of small stories getting overblown becoming huge national stories. The Media will pick and choose what people around the country get to read and watch about us. If manufactured negativity flows around this team for a long period of time, you get major distractions. I have seen great sports teams in my life time get broken up a couple years too early because of off the field distractions. I am not happy with Ozzie running his mouth, I am not happy with our gm thowing him under the bridge. Because even if he meant it in the nicest of way, you know how espn runs things. Again, I ask this: do you really think KW just went out and said this without consulting with JR and the other execs first? This was not KW throwing Ozzie under the bus. It was an organizational response telling their manager to STFU. -
QUOTE(Hurons @ Jun 25, 2006 -> 06:41 PM) as for the future....you better pray the Tigers do not make a play for El Caballo. I don't think a funnier statement could be made than this. For the price he'd cost, he'd be a terrible acquisition for the rest of the season. The Tigers don't need anymore righty power hitters. When C. Lee shows he's capable of being a winning ball player, that's when I'll worry about him.

QUOTE(Hurons @ Jun 25, 2006 -> 06:26 PM) Dude...he made a freaking great play...one of the best I have seen in my freaking 35 years of watching the game. That is all. Why is it such a big deal that Inge made one of the best plays you will eveer see. It's only June baseball...enjoy the game. Yep....enjoy the game.........and stop trying to convince White Sox fans on SOXTALK.COM about the greatness of a play. Can't this thread be moved to The Diamond Club?

Kenny's thoughts on Ozzie and possible consequences

QUOTE(Dam8610 @ Jun 25, 2006 -> 04:51 AM) If Kenny is seriously considering firing Ozzie, then he's lost his touch. I don't think he is though. If he were actually to do something so STUPID (and that would be about the most idiotic thing he could do at this point), he will have lost any credibility he's gained over the past few seasons. I guarantee that if Ozzie is fired, it won't be KW's decision. If things get so bad that Ozzie eventually gets fired, then he'll deserve it. -
ST Poll: Does Ozzie Guillen Need Sensitivity Training?

QUOTE(greg775 @ Jun 25, 2006 -> 03:15 AM) How bout some duct tape for KW who says he may have to fire Oz someday if he keeps this up. KW's comments were the smartest words I heard this entire week regarding the Ozzie controversy. -

QUOTE(rangercal @ Jun 25, 2006 -> 04:22 AM) Im out guys. I need to cool down and have a drink. I just don't want a good thing ruined. This entire week has been blown out of proportion and you all know it. Yep...and KW was the person who caused it to get out of control. :banghead KW's trying to help Ozzie out, as he sees he's a runaway train right now. -

QUOTE(rangercal @ Jun 25, 2006 -> 04:20 AM) I hated Keny when we seen his true colors. It was only a matter of time. True colors? Are you serious? He did what any responsible executive would have done. He told Ozzie, in different words, to STFU! I'm happy he did it, as Ozzie was making himself out to look dumber every day. I could care less what he called Mariotti, as I'm sure most of us have called him something similar over the years. However, I'm disgusted at the way Ozzie has acted since. Why can't he just be quiet, and let the team be in the spotlight? -

QUOTE(rangercal @ Jun 25, 2006 -> 04:16 AM) all we do is f***ing win with OZZIE. Kenny should have kept this private. Kenny brings in good chemistry guys, but he, himself is a f***ing bad apple. He needs to go. I'm tired of him trying to get his name in the headlines. Yep, I'm sure that KW went out on his own and made this statement. If you don't believe that he's speaking for the entire organization, then you don't know how the Sox organization works. -

QUOTE(rangercal @ Jun 25, 2006 -> 04:11 AM) I can see Ozzie quiting over this. If that happens Kenny Williams will not make it to next week alive. Ozzie is bigger than Kenny will ever be. I wish we had a new gm. Maybe If Ozzie quits and Gio turns out to be a complete stud, I will get my f***ing wish. KW had just as much, if not more, to do with the Sox winning the WS last year. If Ozzie doesn't shut his mouth and keeps acting ignorant, then I'll have no complaints if KW/JR show him the door. Ozzie might be funny and charismatic, but he needs to realize he's in a high-profile position, and with that position becomes responsibilities on and OFF the field. -
I'm pretty ashamed to be involved in this pissing contest at 10 PM on a Saturday night.

QUOTE(CardsJimEdmonds15 @ Jun 25, 2006 -> 03:00 AM) This Cardinals team really is awful.. the management took a big ol s*** in the offseason but if this is horrible.. I imagine the rest of the NL is worse than horrible.. take a look sometime.. The Mets and Cards are the best the NL has to offer and that's not saying anything.. I've seen a ton of Cards games this year, and they're basically a 3 player team (Pujols, Rolen, and Carpenter).
-
QUOTE(tigerfan @ Jun 25, 2006 -> 02:57 AM) Last I checked, St. Louis isn't that bad a team. Sure it may look it the way you guys destroyed them, but they're better then you may think. This current Cardinals team is awful. However, I wouldn't put a lot of thought into people b****ing about how the Tigers aren't playing legit teams. The Sox have actually had an easier schedule this year.

QUOTE(Ndgt10 @ Jun 25, 2006 -> 02:56 AM) I must say, I had everyone going about how Garland was the best pitcher on this team. Including you Fathom. I never saw this post you're referring to regarding Garland.

QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Jun 25, 2006 -> 02:55 AM) Go AL Central! 6.5 game lead on the Wild Card! Thanks for posting that number. I think some people forget about it, but it's definitely a pleasant thought. Of course, I'd rather the Sox win the Central. However, it's nice having a 6.5 lead for the playoffs.

QUOTE(Ndgt10 @ Jun 25, 2006 -> 02:55 AM) Apparently, people don't realize when someone is trying to get them riled up. LMAO. I'd say everyone who's read this thread, as well as your previous posts on this site, would think you're being 100 pct serious.
-
QUOTE(Ndgt10 @ Jun 25, 2006 -> 02:52 AM) This is how the Indians played in the 2nd half of the season last year. We all see how good of a team they are. Huh? Are you could say this is how we played all during the first half of last year, and you could see how good we were.
-
QUOTE(Brian @ Jun 25, 2006 -> 02:50 AM) Great move taking Izzy out after it seemed like he was having an easy inning. Yep...if you're going to leave him in for 2 innings, might as well get the 3 outs.
-
QUOTE(jphat007 @ Jun 25, 2006 -> 02:37 AM) LOL, and the poor Cardinals have to send out Sidney Ponson to try and avoid the sweep. Ouch. It's mind-boggling that they're the 2nd best team in the NL. And yes jphat, I was cheering for Pods slam last night.
-
QUOTE(Ndgt10 @ Jun 25, 2006 -> 02:36 AM) They do not have a great defense. Ok
-
QUOTE(Ndgt10 @ Jun 25, 2006 -> 02:33 AM) At least you don't kid yourself into thinking the tigers have a great defense. Um...they do have a great defense. Many baseball experts say their infield defense has the best range in all of baseball.
-
QUOTE(Ndgt10 @ Jun 25, 2006 -> 02:30 AM) Did you see the BOLDED part? Yep...and I couldn't agree more.
-
QUOTE(Ndgt10 @ Jun 25, 2006 -> 02:28 AM) You can't be serious. Why can't he be. The one thing that the Tigers have right now that we didn't have last year was a strong offense. Their pitching staff has been superb so far, and they have a tremendous bullpen (outside of Jones).
-
QUOTE(Ndgt10 @ Jun 25, 2006 -> 02:27 AM) I thought the season was 162 games. Thanks for the information
