  1. Nice to see Uribe get it going. I didn't hear or see Iguchi's last fly out, but was it hit to deep right? I hate our small ball approach so far, but whining's not going to change it.

QUOTE(JimH @ Jun 15, 2006 -> 03:25 AM) It's a fair question. The pitcher can shake the catcher off I guess. Sox pitchers have so much faith in both Pierzynski and Widger but I think this is where the pitching coach comes into play, he can tell them to work inside more. For the last few years, whenever I've seen the vintage Vazquez big innings, it's the same stuff that you mentioned before that gets him in trouble. Vazquez has good control, but he gets wild in the strike zone. He only has one pitch that he can consistently throw inside, and that's his fastball. However, Vazquez ends up leaving his fastball over the plate (a good example was Mark T.'s 2 out RBI double vs him). He didn't use his good changeup nearly enough tonight. That's been his out pitch almost all season.

QUOTE(JimH @ Jun 15, 2006 -> 03:20 AM) Yes, it's possible. There was no doubt Guillen was mad about something though. It appeared he was pissed at Tracey, but then again none of us were up close and personal so it's all conjecture. Considering Tracey only facing one batter, I think it's a sure thing he was mad at him.
  4. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Jun 15, 2006 -> 03:08 AM) I thought it got better as the game went on, but there was some crap when Javy started losing it. Isn't that expected though when any of our pitchers give up more than 2 or 3 runs in an inning?

QUOTE(Dan @ Jun 15, 2006 -> 03:05 AM) damn straight he did. but hes a fool. anybody who really knows baseball would acknowledge the fact that intetionally beaning a player on the first pitch with nobody out can be a death warrant. if AJ had come around and scored, Padilla would feel like a douche, you see it from the other side of the spectrum now? Well, considering that was my main argument for why I'm not 100 pct sure the 2nd HBP was intentional, I definitely understand what you're saying. I just hope Ozzie doesn't throw a hissy-fit about the Tracey incident. If Ozzie wanted something done, he could have told his buddy Montero to do it.
  6. QUOTE(JimH @ Jun 15, 2006 -> 03:03 AM) I agree with closing off the game threads once the game ends because they used to tend to drag on and on, very often in the wrong direction. The ironic thing is that I actually thought the game thread was very solid tonight.

QUOTE(daa84 @ Jun 15, 2006 -> 03:02 AM) exactly people loved it when anderson jumped in for his teammates throwin haymakers, but think its classless to try to hit a ball back at padilla? First, we'd have to hit the ball hard against Padilla to take out a knee. Second, that would have been great to see. However, Hawk sounded like he was rooting for an injury to happen.

QUOTE(Dan @ Jun 15, 2006 -> 03:00 AM) if anybody is ashamed of The Hawk's reaction, you are straight up pussies. as a Sox fan, how are you not mad at Padilla? I wish some of our starters had the balls of Padilla. He challenged the Sox, and he shoved it up our ass after the altercations.

QUOTE(daa84 @ Jun 15, 2006 -> 02:52 AM) AJ got plunked twice with the first pitch....hawk got pissed and IMO he had every right to be... alot of soxtalkers are saying they were embarassed that hawk said the sox should retaliate None of us would have cared if he just said they should retaliate. I can't believe he said some of the s*** he did.
  10. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jun 15, 2006 -> 02:50 AM) Someone on the Rangers should of been plunked, plain and simple. You have to stick up for your teammates, unlessy you like constantly getting plunked with a 90 mile per hour fastball. Then be my guest. I don't understand why Tracey gets in trouble for not doing it, but Montero wasn't asked to? Thornton easily could have come in for relief in the 8th.
  11. QUOTE(daa84 @ Jun 15, 2006 -> 02:49 AM) the meathead attitude in this case is how you play the game of baseball...your guy gets thrown at twice, and you cant just sit on your hands...im not saying the sox should start s***, but when s*** gets started you dont just sti there and take it I don't think people would be nearly as disappointed if not for two things: - Ozzie pulling Tracey after not hitting Blalock - Hawk's completely classless comments.
  12. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Jun 15, 2006 -> 02:44 AM) I don't see anyone complaining about Joe Crede sliding spikes high into second base in the 9th inning of an 8-run game. I thought I heard Tom Grieve say that he'd meet Crede outside of the clubhouse after the game.
  13. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jun 15, 2006 -> 02:39 AM) Vazquez's ERA against teams not named the KC Royals: 5.64. Looks a lot like his previous AL numbers. Not exactly what you are looking for when paying $12,000,000 a year. Yeah...but Anderson is our CF star of the future. Where would Chris Young play?

QUOTE(daa84 @ Jun 15, 2006 -> 02:38 AM) yeah and padilla throwing at AJs head with a 90 mph hardball isnt bulls***...please...this is baseball, not golf Elbow = head? The previous post before yours was perfect.
  15. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 15, 2006 -> 02:25 AM) Am I the only one who thinks Dontrelle "the bird" Willis would get absolutely destroyed in the AL? Raises hand
  16. QUOTE(Frankensteiner @ Jun 15, 2006 -> 02:23 AM) Fields, McCarthy, Sweeny for Willis? Would that work? That would be terrible. Willis is a "sexy" pitcher, but there's a lot of concerns about him.
  17. QUOTE(JimH @ Jun 15, 2006 -> 02:20 AM) Montero is getting his ass handed to him tonite. Not a good showing at all, and I have been one of the biggest backers. Granted Texas is doing everything right tonite but he is not locating well whatsoever. Lets just be grateful he got 2 outs when he faced the Tigers last week.
  18. Actually, it might make more sense to send Tracey down, and call up Lopez. We face the Reds this wknd, and they have a couple of dangerous lefties. Lopez could give us a big out in the mid innings, especially with the possibilities of hitting for the pitcher.
  19. QUOTE(JimH @ Jun 15, 2006 -> 02:09 AM) Either way, mistakes were made and that's what it ultimately comes down to. Personally I believe there are innocent mistakes, vs. intentionally cheating ... like Canseco for example. Yep, very good observation. There are some guys who were blatant juicers, and then there are unlucky guys who didn't know they were taking illegal stuff.
  20. If Tracey gets sent down after this game because of this situation, I'll be extremely disappointed.
  21. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Jun 15, 2006 -> 02:02 AM) Anyone else think of "Canyonaro" from the Simpsons when we bring this guy in? What will Guillen's response be tonight after he is asked if Sean was suppose to hit Blalock? I have a feeling it will be a mute point after what happens in the 8th.
  22. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jun 15, 2006 -> 02:00 AM) This is a perfect situation for one Boone Logan. So instead of hitting a Rangers hitter, you let a Rangers batter hit a fan in the right field stands?
  23. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Jun 15, 2006 -> 01:59 AM) He could have always gotten some from Valido, except he's in BHam..... I thought JimH said it wasn't steroids? JimH....what's the story on this?
  24. Ozzie looked quite pissed. I have a bad feeling he'll bring in Thornton to drill someone with a big fastball next inning.
