  1. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jun 9, 2006 -> 04:34 PM) Didn't Lofton have a problem in the Sox clubhouse? The rumor that was reported on the radio was that Lofton had a problem playing for the White Sox, as he supposedly told people that he was a Cubs fan growing up. QUOTE(beck72 @ Jun 10, 2006 -> 09:27 AM) And Lofton isn't an upgrade I hate the looks of this trade, but how can people really say stuff like this? We have the worst CF combo in all of baseball. Half of AAA would be an upgrade over what we have now.
  2. QUOTE(Melissa1334 @ Jun 10, 2006 -> 03:37 PM) ... i was listening to the score and the ranger said that george offman said the sox inquired about soriano, sanders, and clark. isnt soriano just as bad defensively as pablo? he has a lot of assists but hes pretty bad. i would hate trading for him. anyways You'd hate trading for one of the best hitters in baseball this season? :headshake If we were able to get Soriano, I'd have no problem with putting Pods in CF, and Soriano in LF. That would be terrible defensively, but it would improve our offense to the point where you might be able to get away with a lesser defense.
  3. Good thing there was no elevation. Jenks is going to have to battle his ass off to get this last out.
  4. QUOTE(JimH @ Jun 10, 2006 -> 03:21 AM) I know you never said anything about an offspeed pitch because you never thought of it. The only way to get Hafner out is to bust him inside and then throw offspeeed stuff the other way. But we don't have a lefty who can throw that pitch effectively.
  5. My thoughtful analysis took one pitch to conquer...but I'll take it!
  6. So, here's a tough question. Jenks will face Broussard to start the 9th. He sits on the first pitch fastball, but that's what Jenks has been using successfully so he can get 2 strikes and throw his hook. What will Jenks do?
  7. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Jun 10, 2006 -> 03:15 AM) Not me. They are lots of fun to laugh at! I'll agree with you on this.
  8. QUOTE(JimH @ Jun 10, 2006 -> 03:04 AM) Yeah sure, whatever you say. You know you said Thornton was a better matchup, when in fact you never thought that a good offspeed pitch vs. Hafner is what's needed. You really need to stop all your 2nd guessing when you really don't know. I never said s*** about the offspeed pitch. I think Thornton has a terrible offspeed pitch. However, I thought he had enough velocity to be able to throw it by Hafner upstairs. When it comes to our bullpen, lets just be happy they got a guy out. I'm not blaming this on Ozzie in any shape or form though. This team just isn't good right now besides Dye and Jenks.
  9. QUOTE(JimH @ Jun 10, 2006 -> 03:01 AM) And damn, Thornton matches up so much better vs. Hafner than Cotts, eh fathom? Hafner drilled it. He got him out.
  10. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Jun 10, 2006 -> 02:59 AM) I hate it when we spoil a good starter's good outing, especially one as feisty as Javier's. Man, do we have low expectations for our pitchers this year. Vazquez gave up like 50 runners in this game. He pitched with balls...but he had his work cut out for him.
  11. QUOTE(greg775 @ Jun 10, 2006 -> 02:57 AM) I thought Oz was known for his not being conventional last year and that was part of his excellence. No one can take anything away from Ozzie leading us to the WS....but a manager looks like a genius when he has guys throwing the s*** out of the ball for almost a whole season like we did with Cotts, Cliff, and Hermanson.
  12. Great catch by Anderson. Needless to say, Mackowiak doesn't catch that......but damn, is Hafner scary at the plate.
  13. QUOTE(Ndgt10 @ Jun 10, 2006 -> 02:54 AM) I guess you could say that Anderson swings the "invisible wand." Well said
  14. QUOTE(PeoriaSoxFan @ Jun 10, 2006 -> 02:53 AM) We just don't match up well with Cleveland at all from a pitching standpoint. Proove me wrong Mac. Oh, another bullpen trip. I would bet that Oz's success record after switching pitchers mid-inning is abotu 10% this year. This year, our pitchers don't match up well with any good hitting teams. BTW...since I forgot to do it, kudos to Vazquez for showing massive balls tonight.
  15. QUOTE(greg775 @ Jun 10, 2006 -> 02:51 AM) I'd rather have Scotty than Pierre. Scotty is not that bad. I'll take option C
  16. How does this awful defense compare to the days of Valentin and Jimenez up the middle? I used to be scared of anything him to them...and it's getting that way now.
  17. QUOTE(JimH @ Jun 10, 2006 -> 02:48 AM) I think you'd need to ask Brian. The answer is, he's just not that good at this point in time. Offensively that is. Jim...do you think he's lost confidence? He seems to be so tight at the plate, he's not really swinging the bat...he's throwing the bat thru the zone.
  18. QUOTE(Greg The Bull Luzinski @ Jun 10, 2006 -> 02:47 AM) It defies any theory by Einstein, yet we see it unravel every game we watch. Yet people go ballistic on me when I beg KW to make a move right now, even if it means giving up a little more than you'd like. He's given up enough this year in order to try and win it all, I don't see the logic in waiting another month to try and upgrade the position. We're playing some great hitting teams for the next 10 days, and we can't keep having such s*** in our lineup.
  19. QUOTE(Ndgt10 @ Jun 10, 2006 -> 02:46 AM) Why the heck can't anderson straighten up a fastball? He knows he is going to get it, yet he seems to always fight it off. He might have the lightest .150 in the history of baseball. At least we have the top of the order up next inning, so after Pods K's looking for the 100th time this season, Ozuna will get us going.
  20. How is it possible for Anderson to look worse every single game?
