  1. QUOTE(WCSox @ Jun 8, 2006 -> 07:37 PM) Interesting. But for all we know, Ford may play CF like Mackowiak. Whenever I see him in the outfield, he seems like he's a terrific defender. He also has a cannon for an arm.
  2. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jun 8, 2006 -> 04:01 PM) That's the thing that's been driving me nuts about the kid too, I can't find a single obvious thing he's doing wrong at the plate. With a guy like Uribe, or when Crede stops hitting, usually the mechanical mistake they're making is obvious (and it's usually flying open way too early and trying to pull an outside pitch). But with Anderson, I haven't seen him doing that, he looks like he's keeping his shoulders closed, he's taking a short stride, he's shifting his weight, he looks like he's doing everything right, except every time he hits the ball it goes straight at someone. The problem is, it's going straight at the fans sitting down the right field line. Lets not kid ourselves....he's not hitting into bad luck. He rarely hits the ball with any authority, and he's been too easy of an out at this level. He desperately needs to go down to the minors and regain confidence. It's just disturbing that we have no other options right now. I don't want to see Mackowiak full-time out there, especially against lefties.
  3. QUOTE(Jimbo @ Jun 8, 2006 -> 08:06 AM) Stop pulling this s***, there is no high bidder with Collins, Weber just cant recruit worth s***. Jimbo...by no means am I an Illini fan. I'm as big of an Illini hater as there is. I've heard from numerous reliable sources that Collins and Longstreet were compensated nicely for their decision.
  4. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Jun 8, 2006 -> 03:25 AM) Correct. Although I could see UNC having class and dropping off of Rose since he's going to the highest bidder, however Georgia Tech isn't somebody I'd consider to be a classy school that wouldn't pay Collins. But in that case, guess they took the high road. Paul Hewitt is one of the classiest coaches in all of America. They dropped out of the Collins race very early in the process when the found out what the recruitment consisted of.
  5. QUOTE(Palehosefan @ Jun 8, 2006 -> 02:53 AM) I can tell you this as well, UNC is NOT recruiting Derrick Rose right now. For whatever reasons. It's the same reason that Georgia Tech stopped recruiting Sherron Collins last year.
  6. Fields with just a normal day off? Should I start the rumor now...both Griffey Jr. and Fields didn't play tonight!
  7. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Jun 8, 2006 -> 02:37 AM) We haven't gotten many DPs lately.
  8. Great pitch sequence against one of the hardest guys to K in baseball. We need to get Infante out, so Ordonez is only the tying run.
  9. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jun 8, 2006 -> 02:32 AM) I realize he got the outs, but did he look good doing it? I wish I got home just a bit earlier so I could have watched. Was he locating his off-speed stuff or was it just the FB? He threw his slider for strikes. However, that's not always the optimal location.
  10. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Jun 8, 2006 -> 02:30 AM) We had THE Boone Logan and a very unimpressive Matt Thornton to start the season in the pen.... I was very worried about Politte coming into the year, as I constantly repeated how he was the luckiest statistical pitcher in baseball. But as you know, I was concerned about almost everyone coming into this season, so I won't pat myself on the back.
  11. QUOTE(JimH @ Jun 8, 2006 -> 02:25 AM) Of course he brought in Cotts to get Granderson, did you imagine he wouldn't? I mean, c'mon. How do I get in trouble for giving Ozzie a minor compliment? I figured he would do it, but you never know with Ozzie.
  12. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Jun 8, 2006 -> 02:24 AM) Who else would you rather see from our system? There is not an option available now that would be a gaurentee to be better than Montero and you are going to have to pay out the wazoo to get him. As myself and others have said all season, that's something that should have been addressed in the offseason.
  13. It wasn't particularly pretty by Montero, but he deserves credit for a job well done.
  14. That a boy Neal!!! Thankfully, Ozzie was smart enough to have a LHP face Granderson.
  15. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Jun 8, 2006 -> 02:21 AM) And it sucks... It's inexcusable.
  16. QUOTE(tigerfan @ Jun 8, 2006 -> 02:20 AM) Alright let's. Are we 2 and 9 against the AL elite? Yes. Doesn't mean we are a bad team per se, just that certain other teams are a little better right now. Face it we're struggling. We're not doing the little things that we did during the stretch where we won 15 of 16. Until we start doing those little things, it's gonna keep going like this no matter who we play. I don't get his trash talking in the 8th inning of a one run ballgame.
  17. QUOTE(JimH @ Jun 8, 2006 -> 02:15 AM) SoxTalk whipping boy Augustin Montero in. A huge spot for him to be in. I'd rather see him than Nelson, but he's being thrown into the fire.
  18. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Jun 8, 2006 -> 02:13 AM) NOt even close if he doesn't bobble the ball and makes a good throw. It wouldn't have even required a good throw. He was playing shallow, and Crede hadn't touched 3rd base. Dare I say that Pods could have thrown him out?
