  1. If Ozzie was smart, he'd send Cotts to the mound to start the 9th. Hopefully, the Rockies would send up a batter for Hawpe, who hits a whole lot better against righties than lefties. Hawpe against Hermanson scares me.
  2. We have got to be the worst base running team in baseball. We keep running ourselves out of innings, which is stupid at any field, but especially at Coors.
  3. Ozzie with just some awful managing this inning. Uribe's a god awful base runner. Crede's a god awful bunter. Yet, we make 2 outs in the inning trying to play "smallball"?
  4. A wild pitcher just walks the leadoff hitter, and Ozzie has a terrible bunter try to bunt on the first pitch? That's just idiotic managing. Crede can't bunt....stop giving up outs!
  5. QUOTE(DonkeyKongerko @ Jun 8, 2005 -> 01:32 AM) I know they both suck right now but Uribe is still miles ahead of Crede. Crede's OPS is .689....Uribe's OPS is .652.
  6. That was just a terrible inning by our 6-7-8 hitters there. Uribe is close to becoming the liability at the plate that many people believe that Crede is.
  7. What were Richard's numbers this year?
  8. Wow, Clayton Richard was the back-up QB at Michigan I know. I'm pretty sure he throws hard.
  9. QUOTE(gettysburg32 @ Jun 7, 2005 -> 09:09 PM) Yeah, I wasn't meaning to say Venable had a chance in the NBA, not many 6'2" shooting guards from Princeton do, but I was saying the few times I'd watched him on TV he was a pretty good ball player. No, I know what you mean. Just pointing out the similarity. It's not often you see a guy play in college basketball, and then get drafted in baseball.
  10. QUOTE(gettysburg32 @ Jun 7, 2005 -> 09:06 PM) Yea, that's him, he was a damn good basketball player too. Well, it's worked out pretty well for Chris Young of the Rangers, even though Young was a much bigger prospect.
  11. QUOTE(Randar68 @ Jun 7, 2005 -> 09:03 PM) Yep. I'm somewhat surprised. Kid could have been a first rounder, but for some reason wants to be a PG. There are 12-15 roster spots per NBA team. A first rounder has 4-5 years to make it in baseball plus the million in signing bonuses and college tuition paid in the future... One thing I know about baseball: If you heart and mind aren't 100% into it, your physical tools mean nothing. Funny thing is that his basketball ranking dropped a lot as well. He went from being a fringe top 50 player to being ranked in the bottom part of the top 100. Hewitt has said he's the fastest player he's ever recruited though. He'll have a ton of playing time at pg next year at GT if he actually goes to college.
  12. Didn't Will Venable, of Princeton, play basketball in college also? He was just picked by the Padres.
  13. QUOTE(Randar68 @ Jun 7, 2005 -> 08:59 PM) That and the fact that he played like an uninterested dog all season. Yeah, I noticed that his high school numbers were extremely mediocre this season for someone who was supposed to be such a stud. Looks like Paul Hewitt will actually get Austin Jackson on campus next year
  14. What do we know about Cunningham?
  15. Austin Jackson has not been picked yet. I guess teams were scared off by his desire to play point guard at GT next season. Looks like that decision is going to cost him a lot of money.
  16. QUOTE(Cerbaho-WG @ Jun 7, 2005 -> 08:30 PM) Do any of the BA people work for a major league organization? Didn't think so. The Sox know what they're doing. Come on, I'm just relaying what information I heard. Almost all of us were disappointed in the pick when we heard it anyways.
  17. Real quick tidbit: My brother just called me, and he works for Baseball America. The people at BA started laughing after the Sox took Brooks. According to the people there, it was the biggest stretch of the draft.
  18. Sounds like an awful pick. Also, no shock that Cubs already signed their first-round pick. They don't mess around with money now. If there's a good pitcher to be signed, they'll pay top money for them.
  19. Any predictions on who the Sox take with their next pick?
  20. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jun 7, 2005 -> 06:50 PM) f***ing hell...great pick by the Dbacks. Neighborgall may not have the numbers, but has the arm. As I'm sure you know, he has absolutely no control. GT can't even pitch him in big games because he's more of a threat to walk in 5 runs than he is to give you 3 solid innings.
  21. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jun 7, 2005 -> 06:27 PM) Haven't heard much on Moviel, I remember the Sox signed and drafted his brother Paul hoping to grab Greg. Hodges has flat raked, man would if of been nice if the Sox signed a couple of those guys. Its cool how Hodges broke his hammate and learned how to rake from the other side of the plate and is now a switch hitter. I remember you always loved Hodges. Are you sure Hodges is a switch hitter now? I'm a huge GT fan, and I watched all their regional games on ESPNU this week. Hodges batted righty the entire week. He is a great player though, and it will shock me if he doesn't become a MLB starter in his career.
  22. The Cubs have deep pockets, and I'll be shocked if they don't get a deal done.
  23. Ozzie better get someone up in the pen. You can't f*** around at Colorado, and let the tying run get to the plate.
