  1. That ball could not have caught him more directly on the elbow. There's definitely a chance it could have fractured his elbow.
  2. QUOTE(mrzo2733 @ May 27, 2005 -> 07:15 PM) If we're gonna go after an outfielder I'd like him to be better than Mackowiak. Mackowiak has been playing a lot of 3rd base this season for Pitt. With his strong lefty bat, he'd be a perfect fit for our team.
  3. Mackowiak is a much more likely, and realistic option to be traded for than Chavez.
  4. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ May 27, 2005 -> 04:47 AM) It seems to me that Contreras always starts to get weak come the 7th inning, thats when he gives up his runs all the time it seems... That's a good analysis. He was clearly hanging his forkball in that inning. He pitched a great game though, and will face the same Angels team next week.
  5. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ May 27, 2005 -> 05:23 AM) last year Timo Perez range factor in right field was 2.06 and he did that with no errors... to compare this year Jermaine Dye's range is 1.67 with .942 fielding percentage.... Thanks for backing up your argument with statistics. It's better than just saying because you like/dislike him, etc. However, I'm just judging Timo's awful range on what I actually see on the field. He plays SO deep for every hitter, and lets numerous balls fall in front of him that Rowand would easily have caught.
  6. QUOTE(Punch and Judy Garland @ May 27, 2005 -> 05:19 AM) I think a few posters are misjudging parts of this thread as a Borch lovefest. It isn't. It's just pointing that a guy who struggles as much as Borchard is still more valuable than a dog like Timo. Agreed, thanks for stating this.
  7. QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ May 27, 2005 -> 05:17 AM) This guy couldn't even cut it in the Mexican leauges. What makes you think he belongs here in the majors? Because of how he finished the season last year, and the way he swung the bat in ST. Yes, Borchard sucks. But if it came down to who I'd rather have up down one with 2 outs.....I'd take Borchard over Timo.
  8. I really think that a reason why some people might think Timo is valuable deals with how much Hawk and DJ seem to blow him and his so-called "intangibles" he brings to the table.
  9. QUOTE(DonkeyKongerko @ May 27, 2005 -> 05:13 AM) Wilson Valdez, Jose Hernandez, Calvin Pickering, Roger Cedeno You really think Timo is better than those guys? Remember, all these bench guys have a particular role. Timo has been absolutely brutal in his role this season.
  10. QUOTE(Punch and Judy Garland @ May 27, 2005 -> 05:12 AM) This might sound stupid but I'd Take Joe Borc-K-ard over Perez. At least with Borch pinch hitting he's still going to give you that one hundred something average but a chance to park a ball. I've never seen someone get as much mileage off of 2-3 clutch hits as Timo did last year. He got a million bucks and a roster spot despite sucking. Why is he still here? This might be an Andrew Gannon situation. I agree with you. Borchard also gives you the switch hitting ability, which might make the opposing team bring in a new reliever, etc.
  11. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ May 27, 2005 -> 05:11 AM) When has timo ever proven to be a bad defender... not to mention the cannon of an arm he has... just because people dont like the way he catches the ball doesnt make him bad in the field..... He has absolutely no range at all! I've never seen a player have more balls drop right at his feet than Timo.
  12. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ May 27, 2005 -> 05:06 AM) Greg Dobbs, Eric Valent, Eric Bruntlett, Bobby Higginson, Mark DeRosa....Timo Perez can be arguably better than all of those clowns. Eric Valent is a much better hitter than Timo has ever been. He's a very good hitter against righty pitching. The other guys you listed are bad......but is Timo really better than them? I bet most of them can actually play defense.
  13. QUOTE(DonkeyKongerko @ May 27, 2005 -> 05:01 AM) I forgot who said it but I'd like to repeat that "OMIT TIMO" would be an awesome poster. That would be me. Maybe the only valuable thing I've ever said on here.
  14. Timo is the worst offensive player in the majors. Not only can he not hit, but he makes terrible decision on the bases, and he's an absolutely terrible outfielder.
  15. QUOTE(valponick @ May 27, 2005 -> 04:47 AM) And when it gets warmer out we'll have #35 back in the lineup to give the offense a much needed boost. If we're relying on Frank to solve all our offensive problems......we're screwed. Our bottom of the order is simply pathetic right now. The thing is, you don't even have to make good pitches to guys like Dye, Everett, Crede, and Uribe in order to get them out. I would love nothing more than for the Frank of old to return, and have him hitting homers and drawing walks. I'm not completely sold we'll be getting the Big Hurt though. His injury is something that can really hurt a player's hitting ability.
  16. QUOTE(valponick @ May 27, 2005 -> 04:43 AM) I wouldn't go that far. Our style of play demands solid pitching, and like it or not we aren't going to be blowing many teams out, we are going to win a lot of close games, that is just a product of how this team plays baseball. When it gets warmer out, the ball will be flying out of the Cell. If we don't pick up our offense, our pitching is going to have a hard time single-handedly winning games like they have been.
  17. QUOTE(valponick @ May 27, 2005 -> 04:39 AM) Settle down. No matter how you look at things if you're in first place you shouldn't be complaining. I would agree with that if we were 162 games into the season. It's gotten to the point where our pitchers have to almost be perfect in order for us to be in control of a game.
  18. QUOTE(qwerty @ May 27, 2005 -> 04:36 AM) Lol @ this offense. But...but...but...we're in first place. f*** that argument. There need to be changes made, and fast.
  19. Timo Perez can't get injured or released soon enough. What a f***ing terrible baseball player.
  20. All you have to do is get 2 strikes on the Sox, and then throw an offspeed pitch. You'll strike them out about 75 pct of the time.
  21. QUOTE(ReinsdorfSucks @ May 27, 2005 -> 04:33 AM) is there something that says we decided to try to pull everything and not even try to go the other way? Yes, it's called Greg Walker.
  22. Willie has absolutely no baseball instincts.
  23. QUOTE(thomsonmi @ May 27, 2005 -> 04:30 AM) It's really struggled since Everett was hurt. There's nothing to suggest Everett is hurt. What's been hurting Everett is overswinging at pitches right down the plate, and fouling them off. Then, when he gets 2 strikes on him, he's swinging at anything within 5 feet of the plate.
