  1. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jun 2, 2005 -> 04:26 AM) My questions with this team. Why does Ozzie leave pitchers in after 100 pitches with the game on the line, then pull them to put a 7+ ERA mop up guy with the game on the line. Why are we a pull only team. Why is Timo on this team? Why was Walker on this team? Why isnt Ross Gload up, he is hitting like crazy and has been playing a good first base. Is Cotts/Viz/insert gascan here our best option for the best team in baseball. When will Cotts learn to throw strikes. When did Mike Jackson take over Viz's body. Why is Greg Walker still allowed to tweak our hitters, AJ his latest victim. Why do we bunt Pods into scoring position when he is the best base stealer in the majors, thus giving up an out? Why does he continue to have Contreras and Hernandez pitching back-to-back in the rotation? Why has he abandoned the hit-and-run? Why does every pitcher lose 3 mph from their fastball when they join our team?
  2. Even if Brantley isn't innocent in this, it's still the same approach Ozzie has used with other media members in the past two seasons. Ozzie has turned into an asshole (some might say he's always been one).
  3. QUOTE(nvxplorer @ Jun 2, 2005 -> 04:22 AM) As I've already stated, and this is just speculation, the team has a decision to make. Someone has to go down. It's obvious that that person is either Shingo, Vizcaino or Walker. The fact Walker hasn't pitched in so long is precisely why he was used - so that he could be evaluated before the decision was made. If this is indeed what KW and Ozzie were doing, it was pre-determined that Walker would pitch at some point in today's game. Fine, but why leave him in so long? Walker looked absolutely terrible out there. Why not pull him after two batters then?
  4. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jun 2, 2005 -> 04:21 AM) We didnt hire Ozzie for his class or tact. We hired him to inspire the team and get the best out of them. If we only have to deal with a few mental breakdowns like this series great. I agree with why we hired Ozzie. However, how many times can we say something is a mental breakdown before it just become his decision making in general?
  5. Honestly, the last thing I want to see is for the Sox to take on Ozzie's attitude in terms of becoming a bunch of assholes. I absolutely hate the way the Cubs have acted the last few years with the media and umpires.
  6. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jun 2, 2005 -> 04:17 AM) I dont have a problem with him in this situation. Brantley was an assclown. His apology was nothing more than the kotex boy smile at you once, s*** on you later. Ozzie didnt but it and gave him hell. Now on him starting Timo at 1st and using that turd walker out of the pen. Defenseless. Brantley spoke his mind on Monday, and said what nearly everyone else was repeating. Personally, it's nice to see an announcer call out awful managing when he sees it. It's better than seeing Hawk and DJ fellating Timo's dispaly at first base tonight.
  7. Well, lefty hitters are batting .205 against Kelly Wunsch this year....but we all know that KW has some personal hatred for the good looking lefty.
  8. QUOTE(ottawa_sox @ Jun 2, 2005 -> 04:12 AM) Well said. And just to add to the Timo thought. Maybe Ozzie is aware that Timo is on the bubble with the impending arrival of Gload. And he wanted to give him a chance to prove his worth by adding 1st to his versatility quotient. And it's not like he hasn't been a hero recently. On the surface, shouldn't he have a lot more range than Paulie. Who is struggling. Harris surely has more range than Gooch. With a predominately left handed hitting opponent and a right hander on the mound for us (with a somewhat questionable mental makeup), the right side defense of Harris and Perez could have been a boost to Contreras. I'm not saying this is the move I would have made, but it might have factored into Ozzie's thinking. All I ask from our 1b is for him to catch the f***ing throws from the infielders. Timo failed, plain and simple.
  9. Looks like Ozzie is taking the Dusty approach these days. Ozzie seems to have his head up his ass on and off the field now. No reason to act this way if you ask me. http://chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/sp...-home-headlines
  10. QUOTE(sayitanitso @ Jun 2, 2005 -> 04:06 AM) We couldn't expect Walker to be lights out (not like he normally is anyways), but you can't expect him to be ready when the last time he pitched was about 2 weeks ago. Then why in the living f*** is he pitching in a one run game in the 7th inning....and left in to face 5 batters?
  11. QUOTE(nvxplorer @ Jun 2, 2005 -> 03:17 AM) I agree with all the criticism, but allow me to speculate on what was going through Ozzie's head, or even a directive from KW. With El Duque coming back, someone has to be sent down. It's reasonable to think the Sox management wanted to see Walker one more time before deciding who that would be. This is pure guesswork on my part, but if KW and Ozzie were torn between Walker and Shingo (or even Vizcaino), they may have wanted to see Walker today before deciding. In all honesty, that's probably pretty accurate. It's kinda sad though that we have so many guys that need to be off the team.
  12. QUOTE(Buehrle>Wood @ Jun 2, 2005 -> 03:13 AM) No. We keep getting this type of managing and bullpen performance, and we won't have a chance of making the playoffs. We're nowhere good enough to overcome these type of negative performances.
  13. QUOTE(aboz56 @ Jun 2, 2005 -> 03:11 AM) Once I saw Timo in the lineup at 1st I knew he'd find a way to screw up. This was a LOSS waiting to happen. What I don't get is that we always put in a piece of s*** lineup after we've already clinched the series win...GO for the sweep. If we lose out on the division by less than 5 games to the Twins, Ozzie's lineups in the last game of the series will be as much of a cause for it as anything else.
  14. QUOTE(ottawa_sox @ Jun 2, 2005 -> 03:11 AM) I wasn't referring specifically to how they beat up Walker. I thought they looked better at the plate through the whole series. Against all of our pitchers. We won 2 because our starters looked better than their starters. Mcpherson looks like he is hitting his stride in our prsence. I've never seen Molina look to be on the ball like he was in this series. Finley is showing signs of busting out. Anderson was doing what Anderson ususally does. Kennedy looked dangerous. Etc, etc. Everyone talks about the Sox, but there are 2 teams out there on the field. Good point about the hitting. I'll agree with you that they looked to be on everything we threw. It might also be because our pitchers this series didn't seem very sharp at all.
  15. QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Jun 2, 2005 -> 03:09 AM) BTW, attendace was piss poor for a Wednesday Night Game in June. And save the school thing, because I just barely started school today again and it doesn't take out much time from your schedule. I know today was the last day for many private schools. Even Jesse White spoke on this on Chicago Tribune Live how it's amazing that White Sox don't show up to games even though they are much farther ahead than the Cubs. Where's the support at home??? The attendance for the last two nights have been really disappointing.
  16. QUOTE(Jabroni @ Jun 2, 2005 -> 03:08 AM) Goddamit. These Ozzie apologists are going to make me puke. Once I saw Walker coming into the game, I said to my girlfriend, "Oh s***." I'm not an MLB manager but even I knew that trouble was brewing. There was not a single person in chat that was optimistic when Walker was brought in. Nor was there anyone optimistic about Timo at 1b.
  17. QUOTE(Jabroni @ Jun 2, 2005 -> 03:05 AM) You can't have it both ways? THAT WAS TIMO f***ING PEREZ'S FIRST CAREER START IN THE MLB AT 1ST BASE!!! And it cost us 2 runs, maybe 3 specifically. Also, because of Timo's defense, he likely cost us from having Contreras pitch the 7th inning. How anyone can defend using Timo as the 1b replacement simply shocks me.
  18. QUOTE(winninguglyin83 @ Jun 2, 2005 -> 03:04 AM) They're saying that Timo and Uribe are neighbors in the Dominican. Might be one reason why he is around. Gotta believe Sanders or Josh Stewart or Corwin Malone would be better than Walker. It's true that Timo is basically Uribe's intepreter. Uribe supposedly speaks his own language.
  19. QUOTE(kapkomet @ Jun 2, 2005 -> 03:02 AM) And there you have your answer as to why he went out tonight. What? Are you serious? Why do we owe it to Walker to pitch him in a close game? I didn't know this was Little League where everyone should deserve to play. Are you Ozzie Guillen's publicist?
  20. I would have gone with Vizcaino to start the 7th. He's not that bad against lefties, and he's someone that has at least pitched within the last decade. Not only that, but at least Vizcaino has the chance to strike out a hitter. I can't believe the s*** that Walker was throwing up to the plate.
  21. QUOTE(kapkomet @ Jun 2, 2005 -> 02:59 AM) ok, but how many of you have been b****ing for three weeks that PK needed a day off. Who do you put in there? Granted, Timo wouldn't be my fist choice, but I also think that Ozzie is putting these guys in situations to see what they do in the long term. If Timo is our long-term 1b, then I will become a Cubs fan. That would be as painful to me as chopping off my arm. You know what? If you don't have a replacement at the position, don't sit the player out then.
  22. QUOTE(ottawa_sox @ Jun 2, 2005 -> 02:58 AM) Perhaps a tiny bit of hat tipping could go to the Angels at the moment as well. Like Texas, they seem to be attaining their hitting eye. They got meatball after meatball from Walker. Even the Sox would have likely scored against someone like Walker pitching. How many times are we supposed to tip our cap to different pitchers or hitters?
  23. Ozzie is managing like every game isn't important, and that it's the NBA where 16 teams make the playoffs. We're going to need every single game possible by the end of the season. The Twins aren't going anywhere, and are likely the favorite to win the division right now. Their bullpen is 100 times better than ours right now.
  24. QUOTE(kapkomet @ Jun 2, 2005 -> 02:54 AM) Have y'all ever thought that Ozzie is trying to get these guys some playing time in critical situations to see what they do? That's the worst f***ing excuse ever then. That's an excuse commonly used by coaches/managers when they're trying to cover their ass.
  25. QUOTE(winninguglyin83 @ Jun 2, 2005 -> 02:54 AM) For the record, the callers are murdering Ozzie on the post-game radio show. ' About what exactly?
