QUOTE(sox-r-us @ Jun 2, 2005 -> 02:04 AM) Brently on ESPN just took more shots at Ozzie for his BP handling Specifically at not bringing in Hermy in game 1, which we almost lost thanks to that move, and now bringing him in for mop up hurting his 0.00 ERA MInd you, Brentley predicted Hermy would nto do well before he even pitched his first pitch (becoz it was not a save situation) Right he was.....f*** you Ozzie, you suck moron I'm sure Ozzie will go off on Brantley again.

QUOTE(Mr. Showtime @ Jun 2, 2005 -> 02:02 AM) They said it was the back, couldn't get loose. Seems like it might be a season long type injury. Hermanson didn't seem to be getting very good extension on his pitches that inning. A back injury would definitely cause you to short arm the ball.
-
QUOTE(KevHead0881 @ Jun 2, 2005 -> 02:01 AM) I know he's on long rest and may be rusty, but his past few outings have been a tad concerning. If I remember correctly, he walked his share of guys against the Cubs and in Anaheim and was able to get out of jams. Yeah, he was definitely playing with fire in Anaheim. Both Molina and Pride hit very long flyballs against him. I've noticed that his splitter hasn't been nearly as sharp as it was earlier.
-
QUOTE(Mr. Showtime @ Jun 2, 2005 -> 02:00 AM) Everyone was calling for him, and there he is. Come on, this is a totally different situation than if your team has the lead. I am worried though about Hermanson. Did we ever find out if he was a little injured on Monday?

We need to acquire a reliever. May I recommend Jay Witasick on Colorado?
-
QUOTE(nvxplorer @ Jun 2, 2005 -> 01:57 AM) Actually, I'd prefer it to happen in this situation. Not that I hope he does, but if it happens, at least it will be out of his system. Agreed. We're going to need other relievers to pick up the slack when Cliff and Dustin have their inevitable slumps.
-
QUOTE(qwerty @ Jun 2, 2005 -> 01:55 AM) Giving up both inherited runners is not good. You can thank our manager for that. With first base open, we should have never pitched to Molina. Personally, I thought our best chance of getting out of that inning with a tie score was to walk McPherson, and bring in Viz to face Molina. He's such a double play threat, it would have given us a chance.

QUOTE(Jabroni @ Jun 2, 2005 -> 01:53 AM) I want to see Kevin Walk-er and Jose Jizzcan literally eating s*** in the dugout. They make me sick. I hate Vizcaino, but he did go 1.2-0 tonight. Might as well take it as a positive.
-
QUOTE(KevHead0881 @ Jun 2, 2005 -> 01:51 AM) Never said I wasn't pissed. I'm just reading comments like Ozzie is the worst manager in baseball and he's an idiot, and I just think that ain't true. I realize that its their opinion, as this is mine, so I'll just let the issue die. Rant away fellas. Fair enough. I know people will have different opinions than everyone else. We're all Sox fans here, so I don't want you thinking I was attacking you for not hating Ozzie.
-
QUOTE(Jabroni @ Jun 2, 2005 -> 01:49 AM) Ozzie lost this game when he lead off the inning with Kevin Walk-er. That hurt more than Timo at 1st base. Don't you think it's funny when you're forgiving your manager because one decision was dumber than the other?
-
QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jun 2, 2005 -> 01:45 AM) Well sometimes you just can't have both. At least if you choke in the 6th or 7th, you have time for a comeback. Cotts, Marte and Politte were all used yesterday, so that pretty much left Hermy (never was going to come in the 7th), Vizcaino or Walker. You don't think Politte or Marte couldn't have gone an inning, and then let Hermanson go for 2 innings? The managers job is to put the team in the best situation it can in order to succeed. Did Ozzie really think putting Walker in gave the team the best chance ito win? Look at what everyone was saying before he even threw a pitch. Hopefully, Walker finds himself unemployed after tonight.
-
QUOTE(EvilJester99 @ Jun 2, 2005 -> 01:36 AM) Ozzie should bring Shingo in for nothing more than even just get some friggin work in...hell he has already thrown this game so why not. Problem is, we have too many relievers that fit this same description.
-
QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jun 2, 2005 -> 01:42 AM) Would you rather have a pen that does good in long relief or one that does well in KEY late game (8th, 9th inning) situations? I want a bullpen that does well in both. You lose as many games in the 6th or 7th with relievers as you do in the 8th or 9th. Why Ozzie wanted to use our worst reliever in the 7th in a one run game against the top of the order simply shocks me.
-
QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jun 2, 2005 -> 01:40 AM) Sure there are. And to want the combination of horrible Cubs pen preformances over what the Sox have done is hilarious. How many games have the Cubs pen given away vs what the Sox have done? What is our record in one run games? Where do the Sox rank in team relief points? (2nd) But you would rather have the Cubs pen? Come on. I know you are mad, but wow, at least be rational. Look at the post I wrote when you were probably writing this. The current relief corp on both teams being equal, I think the Cubs have a better bullpen foundation. They have their long man in Wellemeyer, two solid lefties in Bartosh and Ohman, a set-up man in Wuertz, and a solid closer in Dempster. I don't think the Cubs bullpen is much better than ours at all.
-
QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jun 2, 2005 -> 01:37 AM) And you can throw in all of the fire jobs that Hawkins did as well. Dempster's ERA as a closer has been very good. Also, last time I checked, Shingo and Vizcaino didn't have stellar ERAs. You left out Ohman, Bartosh, and Wellemeyer, all guys with ERAs under 3. Wellemeyer is the best long man in the city of Chicago (that doesn't sound good). I'm the biggest Cubs hater there is....but I would take their full pen over ours right now.
-
QUOTE(KevHead0881 @ Jun 2, 2005 -> 01:36 AM) Pretty much explains most of this thread. Are you serious? You honestly think Ozzie isn't a terrible manager? I can't see how any smart baseball fan wouldn't think he's just god awful.
-
QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jun 2, 2005 -> 01:32 AM) That's exactly what I was thinking... wow what an overreaction. Last time I looked, there were more than 2 relievers on a team.

how many of you armchair managers would've benched

QUOTE(Hideaway Lights @ Jun 2, 2005 -> 01:34 AM) Ozuna? No. He can't play defensively at 3rd base. Also, until he learns to hit the ball longer than 10 feet in air, he's not a real solid option to be starting. -
Pods defense = bad. With his speed, he should be so much better.

Considering we have no other options at 3rd base, Crede would have had to play no matter what. -
QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jun 2, 2005 -> 01:30 AM) So you'd rather have the likes of Joe Borowski and Ryan Dempster over Dustin Hermanson and Cliff Politte? No, but the set of relievers as a whole. If you haven't noticed, the Cubs bullpen has been lights out lately. Our bullpen continues to blow game after game. Hermanson has been great of course....yet Ozzie doesn't use him.
-
QUOTE(Mr. Showtime @ Jun 2, 2005 -> 01:27 AM) Sad. Yes, it's sad that in the professional sport that is dictated the most by the coach/manager, we have a f***ing moron leading our team. Not only that, he's become a massive asshole off the field. Ozzie is becoming everything I used to hate about Dusty and the Cubs, where they had the "us against the world" philosophy.
-
QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jun 2, 2005 -> 01:27 AM) Would you rather have the Cubs bullpen or ours? Right now, the Cubs.
-
QUOTE(qwerty @ Jun 2, 2005 -> 01:26 AM) Ozzie will have the nerve after the game when the reporters question why the f*** he would start walker to start an inning. Let's see when ozzie started timo at first we all new what would happen. Guess what? It did and it cost us two runs. He starts walker in a one run f***ing ball game? We all knew what would happen. He then follows walker with vizcaino when men are on second and third with one out? You guessed it we knew what would happen too. Ozzie showed absolutely no ability to think ahead that inning. Walker didn't look like he could strike out a 5 year old that inning, so why not walk McPherson and try to get the slowest runner in baseball to hit into a DP. Instead, Ozzie basically just gave the Angels the lead.

QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Jun 2, 2005 -> 01:21 AM) Title says it all. He's been unbearable this week. Complete garbage. Be careful, he might verbally attack you like he did to Jeff Brantley. It's getting to the point where I hate our manager on and off the field. I used to think I would never hate a manager more than Dusty....but Ozzie is about to pass him up.
