  1. QUOTE(GASHWOUND @ May 1, 2005 -> 08:55 PM) and it's safe to say our 5th starter spot in the rotation may be a bit better then it was last year... Just thinking about our 5th starter last year makes me mad. What a terrible feeling that was thinking we had no shot to win whenever Wright or Diaz or ..... was on the mound.
  2. Congrats Pedro! I'm also officially on the Chris Widger bandwagon.
  3. Good news, I think we're missing out on having to face Halladay when we go to Toronto. He's scheduled to pitch on Wednesday vs the Orioles.
  4. Like someone mentioned earlier, Garland is making the other team beat him. In the 5th inning, the Tigers got the first two guys on, and Higgy was up, someone who has crushed Jon in the past. Previous years, it would have seemed like Garland would walk Higginson, and put the Tigers in a position to have a huge inning. Rather, Garland just let Higgy hit the ball today, and ended up getting out of the inning without allowing a run.
  5. QUOTE(shagar69 @ May 1, 2005 -> 08:40 PM) and speakin of the Scrubs, H-town has come back to take 9-3 lead. Stro's put up a 7 spot in the 6th against the Messiah I've never seen a manager leave a pitcher in to allow a 3 run homer only 3 batters after a pitcher had allowed a grand slam.
  6. Doesn't it seem like Garland's slider to lefties is a lot tighter than it was in previous years? I remember Garland mostly throwing his loopy curveball that seemed to hang too often. Now, he's throwing a pitch that almost resembles Loaiza's nasty cutter. BTW, TWINS LOSE!
  7. Stewart homers off of K-Rod. 2-1, bottom of 9th, no outs.
  8. QUOTE(sox-r-us @ May 1, 2005 -> 08:25 PM) Who cares if he did anything when we were out of it. Prove it when it matters. When we were out of it? It's not like we were 25 games out last season, and Rowand just beat up on AAA pitchers. He hit .319 after the ASB last season, and .298 before the ASB.
  9. QUOTE(sox-r-us @ May 1, 2005 -> 08:23 PM) Rowand's ass should be on the bench if he does not pick it up soon Every year same story....no consistency at all Rowand proved last year he could have a monster season, and he started off awful last year also. Rowand's been driving the ball better lately, so I'm not really concerned about him. Also, we don't have a CF if Rowand is on the bench. Pods is better suited in LF with his inability to read balls of the bat.
  10. QUOTE(fathom @ May 1, 2005 -> 08:21 PM) I know it's early, and he's been struggling, but I really would like to see Rowand batting 3rd against lefties. I'm saying this before Everett bats so I don't sound like I'm whining if he makes an out here. Rowand is great vs lhp, and I think would help generate some more offense. LIKE I WAS SAYING! Good job Carl!

  12. DP hit into by Lecroy! End of inning, still 2-0.
  13. K-Rod is coming in for the Angels now. I had missed the Lopez AB, yahoo says it was a deep fly to center. How close to the track was it? Thanks.
  14. QUOTE(longshot7 @ May 1, 2005 -> 08:12 PM) Colon dealing. Minus 1 outing in NY, he has been awesome so far this year. Twins have bases loaded, one out for Rivas.
  15. Colon has to leave the game with a leg injury. Angels have a good bullpen, but Colon was pinpoint today with his stuff.
  16. QUOTE(3E8 @ May 1, 2005 -> 08:04 PM) That's our first Timoment of 2005 people! You've been dying to use that term, havent you?
  17. Man, what happened to Crede's level swing? He's been popping up a ton of pitches, especially low ones. Meanwhile, in the Twins game, Colon seems hurt after mowing down the Twins all game.
  18. Well, that play is going to keep Timo on the roster the rest of the year. Anyways, thankfully it was successful. Come on Crede, bust it wide open.
  19. Am I the only one who thinks Widger is our most dangerous hitter at the plate right now?
  20. QUOTE(quickman @ May 1, 2005 -> 01:14 AM) Hawk and the gerbal needs to get out of Ozzies ass. I haven't heard Hawk criticize anything this entire year.
  21. QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ May 1, 2005 -> 01:11 AM) I refuse to complain about Oz or the pitchers. Until I see an offense, there's no point to b**** about them. Good point. I think it's just because we're all so frustrated with this s***. The last 3 losses, and tonight's games, have been some of the worst I can ever imagine (not dealing with the Twins).
  22. QUOTE(Punch and Judy Garland @ May 1, 2005 -> 01:11 AM) I'm not hallucinating here am I? Didn't I read where the sox were going to be VERY careful to number Orlando's innings and number of starts because they know he'll get hurt if he goes 200 innings over 35 starts? I'm not a f***ing idiot am I? We're all f***ing idiots for believing anything mgmt tells us. The fact that Timo got the start tonight after doing exactly what KW b****ed out Lee for doing last year shows what the Lee move really was (cost-cutting, even though I thought the end result was fine for our team).
  23. You can tell that the book on Konerko is out.....pitch him fastballs inside. He'll either chop it to the left side or take a called 3rd looking in there. He's not quick enough right now to get his hands inside the ball. Konerko should have been looking to right center w/the bases loaded, and not to pull the ball. I was worried he'd hit into a 5-4-3 triple play.
  24. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ May 1, 2005 -> 01:07 AM) What the f*** is Ozzie doing? Why in the hell is El Duque still in the game? :banghead :banghead :banghead Because he has absolutely no feel for the game. How many times have you seen him leave a batter in one inning too long? I know he tries to get the starter's confidence level up, but you also owe it to the team to make the proper decision. Hernandez is at 105 pitches starting this inning.......and it's not like he's not injury prone.
