  1. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Aug 4, 2005 -> 03:23 AM) Don't get me wrong. I am enjoying this just as much as the next big Sox fan but IMO, he is right, brace yourself for the worst but hope for the best. I'm not bracing for the worst. If this team doesn't make the playoffs, I would be stunned, pissed, and confused. I stated above, and I'll state it again: If the Sox don't make the playoffs, we don't deserve to make it. We'd have no one to blame but ourselves (even though I'm sure Hawk would blame it on the umps).
  2. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Aug 4, 2005 -> 03:20 AM) Btw Fathom, the hate comment was just joking around. Don't worry about it. Even if you do, it doesn't make either of us right or wrong. We have difference of opinions about most things.....s*** happens.
  3. QUOTE(GBlum27 @ Aug 4, 2005 -> 03:18 AM) Remind me of the foul totals at the half Again, I really don't want to make this into a basketball thread. Sorry mods...I was just trying to use an example of something completely unexpected happening in sports.
  4. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Aug 4, 2005 -> 03:15 AM) I officially hate you. :headshake Thanks. If you thought the refs were good at the end of that game....then you probably think Willie should be starting at 2nd base for the Sox
  5. QUOTE(GBlum27 @ Aug 4, 2005 -> 03:16 AM) You lost your point right there How so? Not to make this into a basketball thread, but that was some awful officiating in that game, which helped the Illini comeback. And BTW, I'm a Illini alumnus....so this isn't sour grapes.
  6. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Aug 4, 2005 -> 03:14 AM) And sometimes it can go into a double play............ We did a great job of hitting it the opposite way in Baltimore. Then, when we come home, we try to pull just about everything. That's why I feel our offense is struggling. Also, someone needs to tell Crede that it's ok to strikeout sometimes....but swing the f***ing bat like a MLB player. No more of this flipping the bat s*** and popping up to 1b.
  7. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Aug 4, 2005 -> 03:13 AM) Expect the worst, hope for the best. I think that is his philosophy and I am sticking with that too. My feeling right now is that if we can't make the playoffs after having a 15 game lead after August 2nd.....you don't deserve to make the f***ing playoffs.
  8. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Aug 4, 2005 -> 03:11 AM) Do you honestly think this team is not going to make the playoffs? Sure it's possible. Are you that cynical? I think there's a great chance that we do. However, I see our schedule the rest of the way, and there are definitely a lot of teams that WILL beat us if we don't play better at home. Also, with the numerous games we have left against the Twins, there's no telling how those games will play out. I'm not saying it's likely the Sox don't make the playoffs.....but it definitely wouldn't be the biggest surprise I've ever seen in sports. Who would have ever thought Illinois would come from behind and beat Arizona when down 15 with 4 minutes left? Sure, the refs resembled Helen Keller...but it was still a miracle.
  9. QUOTE(Ozzie Montana @ Aug 4, 2005 -> 03:09 AM) Somebody has to wake Podsednik up. He cant hit or steal or even take a walk. Who was it that was saying it wasn't a slump?
  10. QUOTE(Soxnbears01 @ Aug 4, 2005 -> 03:08 AM) when you have a double digit lead You do know there have been teams that lost a double digit lead in August? Ask the Angels about that when the Mariners came from way behind to beat them in a play-in game.
  11. QUOTE(Soxnbears01 @ Aug 4, 2005 -> 03:06 AM) usually. this year WE'VE WON THE DIVISION. just say it, it's going to happen this year Again, I repeat: Since when is the division decided on August 4th?
  12. QUOTE(ScottPodRulez22 @ Aug 4, 2005 -> 03:04 AM) The umps what can i say we would have won 3-1 if it wasent for them Are you joking? You do know the count was 0-1 when it happened.
  13. QUOTE(Soxnbears01 @ Aug 4, 2005 -> 03:04 AM) breathe in, breathe out I know, I'm just saying that I can't believe how some people think the division has already been decided. We're Sox fans....aren't we supposed to expect the worst?
  14. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Aug 4, 2005 -> 03:04 AM) Check out the Griffey thread and people were saying that there is no where to play Griffey because we already have a DH. LOL Hawk said the same thing tonight. I think that's right after he said Hillenbrand should have K'd on the HBP. What a dumbass.
  15. QUOTE(GBlum27 @ Aug 4, 2005 -> 03:02 AM) 2 days - 2 games off the division lead Should we be looking over our shoulders at the A's? GMAFB! This thing isn't over until the Sox clinch it, no matter what anyone says. There's no rule saying the Sox have to win another game all season (literally).
  16. QUOTE(whitesoxfan13 @ Aug 4, 2005 -> 03:01 AM) Wow, Carl Everett looks embarrasing at the plate. He's trying to hit the long ball every AB. Sometimes, it pays off like in the first. However, it seems like he's pressing with Thomas gone. And before any b****es about this post, myself and another poster were talking about this last night. Everett is not a number 3 hitter....problem is, we don't have a 3 hitter right now.
  17. Hawk's going to make a bigger fool out of himself by continuing to b**** about the Shea HBP. Hey everyone, we're 3-12 in our last 15 home games. Sorry jphat, I'm not happy about that.
  18. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Aug 4, 2005 -> 02:58 AM) I'd heard that since his family member/friend had passed, that he'd been pretty quiet. So, Podsednik's 0-for-5 tonight. It's probably 'cause he had a negative attitude, right? Give it a break. Willie played like a dog on the field, and he got sent down because of it.
  19. Hawk is about ready to go down on Batista now.
  20. 2 for last 24 now. Hasn't even come close to getting a hit tonight.
  21. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Aug 4, 2005 -> 02:55 AM) Oh come on, give me a f***ing break. So, now you can tell what their mentality is, fathom? So, what's El Duque thinking tonight, huh? How about Crede? Or Blum? What I saw in Willie was someone that when he started struggling on the field, he'd put his head down and would keep struggling. Don't forget that there are plenty of people that say he's not well liked off the field also.
  22. QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ Aug 4, 2005 -> 02:54 AM) Yep. Is that the first time you agreed w/me all year? BTW, think Mejia will be any good for DePaul this year (you can save that for a different thread some time).
  23. QUOTE(elrockinMT @ Aug 4, 2005 -> 02:53 AM) I like Willie too! But, Timo has had his good moments, but Willie has more upside I think What's this upside of Harris everyone mentions? He fails to hit the ball hard way too often, doesn't have the slightest clue how to protect the plate, and has no baseball instincts at all.
  24. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Aug 4, 2005 -> 02:53 AM) ...yet again, he doesn't get that opportunity if Harris doesn't get on base, and steal a base. And Steve, weren't we at a game early in the year where the bases were loaded and one out in the ninth against Detroit, Timo was at the plate, and struck out? See, I can remember specific instances, too. That Timo AB was the most pissed I've been at an AB all season. All he had to do was hit a flyball, and he tried to hit a grand slam.
  25. Screw who's better: Willie or Timo. I personally think both of them should have been off this team. At least Timo has produced lately. Willie was awful for far too long this season, and didn't seem to have a very positive attitude on the field.
