I'll be shocked if Rowand can get a hit against Shields. -

QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ May 25, 2005 -> 04:13 AM) Is there a reason Gload is in the minors? He certainly couldn't do worse than what Konerko/Dye are doing right now. In fact, he'd be a nice guy to do what Juan Uribe did early on last season, give guys breaks at SS/2B/3B -- yet, with Ross, RF and 1B. I don't know what Ross did to piss in Ozzie's cheerios, but... Ross has a bad shoulder. He's rehabbing in AAA right now though. -

QUOTE(thomsonmi @ May 25, 2005 -> 04:11 AM) We had streaks like this in the last couple years though even with Frank, Ordonez, Lee, and Valentin in the lineup. This lack of offense hasn't really been just a streak.....our offense has looked pretty bad all year. We only have 3 players who are hitting over .270 this season, and we are awful at drawing walks. Thankfully, we found a way to win 31 games out of our first 43. -

KW is crazy if he thinks that adding Frank Thomas to this lineup is going to be good enough to get it over the hump. This is the worst offense we've had in a long time. -

The last two games, the Sox have swung through some very good pitches to hit. Dye just got two cookies from Donnelly, and looked like s*** on both of them. -

I'm pretty sure that we haven't had more than one player reach base in an inning through the first 16 innings of this series. Smallball sure is impressive -

These umps sure do suck tonight. Colon has been pitching with a huge zone the entire game. -

QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ May 25, 2005 -> 03:17 AM) Yeah, we're not scoring again today. It's not just that we're not scoring, we're not even coming close to hitting the ball hard. -
Twins are ridiculous with RISP and 2 outs this season.
-
QUOTE(beck72 @ May 24, 2005 -> 06:52 PM) I do think Crede will stay. Yet the sox need a better option for both 3b and SS when Uribe and Joe both go through long, embarassing slumps that give the sox two easy outs day in and day out. With a veteran guy who can do the little things that the Sox need [make contact, be a #2 type hitter, play solid, dependable defense], Uribe and Crede could stay fresh at least. IMO, keeping these guys fresh is the best way to get them to perform up to their capabilities. Couldn't have said it better. You're exactly right in what you say. We need a back-up for the left side of the infield that can fill in for a few games at a time when Uribe or Crede are struggling. Ozuna is a nice bench player, but I don't think he's a legitimate option to start 4 games in a week at 3b or SS.
-
QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ May 24, 2005 -> 05:25 PM) I would rather see Carl Everett in CF, than Timo Perez as a starter, and I am not kidding. Also Ozuna is a solid guy off of the bench, and a good defensive SS, but is not everyday material at 3B. There are plays that Crede makes look routine, that many 3B's don't make. Crede's defense alone makes him the starter, without a doubt. I'd rather never see Timo or Everett play another game in the outfield in their Sox career!
-
QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ May 24, 2005 -> 05:12 PM) And I dug up the stats for this in another post earlier today. Of the 5 starters we saw for the first time, we kicked the crap out of 3 of them. Bedard and Santana pitched well against. Bedard has pitched well against everyone pretty much, so there isn't much embarassement in the numbers we through up against him. All of this corpseball and first time seeing a SP stuff, is pretty much urban legend anymore... It really doesn't hold up to the actual statistics. We had faced Bedard last year....and roughed him up.
-
Santana got away with numerous hangers as the game went on. It just so happened that the hangers were thrown to either guys who couldn't hit a little league pitcher right now (Uribe and Everett) or guys that refuse to swing at the first pitch (PK and Dye).
-
QUOTE(shagar69 @ May 24, 2005 -> 04:29 AM) yea, well we need some O too wit colon on the mound. O and dont look now but here some of our numbers against Fartolo: If we're relying on Harris and Ozuna for offense......we're in a lot of trouble.
-
QUOTE(shagar69 @ May 24, 2005 -> 04:23 AM) harris and ozuna Our defense tonight played a huge role in the Angels winning the game. We need to maintain our defense in some fashion tomorrow, especially with Buehrle on the mound. We need a strong left side of the infield with MB on the mound.
-
QUOTE(Kogs35 @ May 24, 2005 -> 04:22 AM) crede and uribe need to be benched tomorow night For who though? I don't want to see Harris at SS. I have no problem with giving Crede a few days off though. Contreras had more confidence at the plate than Crede did tonight.
-
Carl Everett is allergic to reaching base when facing a righty.
-
Something that has really pissed me off tonight has been numerous swings by the Sox hitters when they were well ahead in the count. There were 4 or 5 times where we hit weak grounders or fly balls to the opposite field on a 2-0 or 3-1 count. We need to hit the ball a lot harder than that to have consistent offensive production.
-
QUOTE(KevHead0881 @ May 24, 2005 -> 04:15 AM) With the exception of a few outings, Marte has been pretty reliable this year. Marte's control has been scary all year. His WHIP is awful, and he's barely escaped some big innings this year. Everyone knows Ozzie doesn't have a lot of confidence in Marte.
-
Garland had a solid game tonight, but in no way do I think he's a tough-luck loser tonight. He gave up a lot of hits to a pretty s***ty hitting lineup, and he was unable to get Kennedy out after Crede's mishap. If this is a bad game for Garland though, he's come a long way.
