QUOTE(whitesoxfan13 @ Apr 30, 2005 -> 11:22 PM) Aaron, yes! With our offense, that could have been the game if he dropped that. Good catch though. Hopefully we can have some hard hit balls today.
-
Good pitch by Hernandez to get Young there. Why are we letting teams run on us whenever they want though? We haven't thrown through one time this season on the 1st and 3rd steal attempt. What is this, Little League?
-
Who was the person on here that predicted El Duque was going to start get rocked if he continued to pitch the way he has all season? Was it Nuke?
-
Bring back our momentum please!
-
Our next pitch out this season will be our first. Besides for Buehrle, poor A.J. rarely has a chance to throw out a runner.
-
I don't think people would have a problem with Dye sitting out if it wasn't for the fact Timo is replacing him....and batting 5th. This lineup needs a total overhaul, but Ozzie tries to fix it by just replacing players in the same spot of the order.
-
Willie was competent enough at SS last night to get another start tonight, especially against a pretty tough righty in Johnson. We can't be sacrificing any more offense for defense right now.
-
This is the lineup I'd like to see: Lf- Pods 2b- Iguchi DH- Everett 1b- PK RF- Gload CF- Rowand C- A.J. 3b- Crede SS- Harris (kudos to his performance in the field tonight)

QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ Apr 30, 2005 -> 04:39 AM) Good teams find ways to win. Lucky or not, they count. If we luckily win our way into the World Series, I wouldn't complain. But yeah, I see your point. Could you at least agree that there's PLENTY of time to become an elite team, we've shown signs of what we're capable of, and you have some hope that we can do it? Yes, we can become an elite team. However, we're going to need PK to hit 40 homers this season, and for Dye to put up an OPS over .750. If we can continue to get starts from our pitching that puts us in a good position to win, then we have a great chance to become elite. Basically, I think it boils down to whether or not our hitting picks up, or our pitching slumps.

QUOTE(Punch and Judy Garland @ Apr 30, 2005 -> 04:37 AM) I think NL offense CAN win in the Al as evidenced by Anaheim and Minnesota to a lesser extent. That said, we are sort of playing a bastardized version of NL ball You and I, and everyone that has seen the Twins play a lot, know that they've won the last few years because of two reasons: clutch hitting and incredible relief. We just didn't get the clutch hitting we needed tonight.

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Apr 30, 2005 -> 04:36 AM) White Sox> Red Sox. Red Sox are facing a lot of injury problems, but I have no doubt they'll win over 90 games this season. They can afford to "buy" players at the deadline if they need help.

QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ Apr 30, 2005 -> 04:30 AM) We've been in every game. They've all been winnable. Yeah, I think we can be one of the top teams this year. And no, I'm not expecting us to win every game. Losing streaks happen too. Do you really think we're not a superior team? My feeling is this: We could realistically be 20-3 this season.....or 9-14. If we continue to only get enough hitting to win each game by one run, it's going to catch up to us this season. How many times this year did we make comments after the game about how lucky we got? Yet, the last three games, we've been the one "creating" luck for the opposition. I felt like we were the luckiest team in the world after those Twins games when they left a 3rd world country on the bases, as well as two of those KC games.

QUOTE(Punch and Judy Garland @ Apr 30, 2005 -> 04:31 AM) what the hell is a superior team? In my book, a superior team is a threat to win the World Series.

QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Apr 30, 2005 -> 04:29 AM) This is bulls*** plain and simple. Our expectations are NOT too high. When you have the chance to score, and don't, 8 times, you kill yourself. We should have won this game in the 1st inning, not the 9th, not the 11th. Horrible execution = garbageness. I am SUPER pissed right now. Bulls***. We should be on a 9 game winning streak, not a 3 game losing streak. Yes, but our expectations also are high right now because our pitchers are pitching way over their heads right now. Contreras and El Duque have been the pitching version of L. Ford this season. All I know is we need to create more offense. Ozzie actually put some runners in motion in the debacle on Tuesday night, and it opened up holes and we had some nice scoring innings because of it.
-
I want to see Gload play tomorrow for someone. At least he seems like he can hit a liner once every 10 plate appearances.
-
Two things: - I'm so sick of typing the word hit and run this week. - Did the hot start get our expectations too high? My girlfriend, who isn't exactly a baseball expert, brought that up after this game. Look at our roster right now....and do you really think that's a superior team?
-
QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Apr 30, 2005 -> 04:19 AM) Greasy, they're just all really scuffling right now, I think they've proved on this road trip that they can win without the homer. Obviously people aren't going to be happy right now but the mood around here will change once we win the next two. We were playing Kansas City though. Two of those games we had no business winning at all. We really need a win tomorrow to get some momentum back. I saw absolutely no enthusiasm from the team tonight.

QUOTE(Punch and Judy Garland @ Apr 30, 2005 -> 04:19 AM) I think the myth was that we got rid of guys who didn't come thru and that didn't move over guys and that we kept a bunch of guys that do. This team is only mildly better and that stuff and has sacrificed other things for that minimal improvement I'm just grateful we got off to such an improbably start. We caught so many breaks those first 20 games, and it's catching up to us. Losing Uribe hurts also.

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Apr 30, 2005 -> 04:17 AM) Its official CORPSEBALL is back. A few weeks into the season and we are making plus 6 ERA pitchers look like Cy Young. Stranding runners, popping out, GIDP and taking home run swings when you need a simple basehit. Its back. CORPSEBALL 2005 aka DUMB BALL I'm most concerned about a lack of hitting the ball hard. Of our last 6 games, we have about 5 hard hit balls.

QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Apr 30, 2005 -> 04:17 AM) I just hate how we claim we're going to play small ball. If we played small ball, we would've got more than 2 runners in to score with all the people we had on. We agree on something! I don't care if the runners are slow, we don't have the personnel to keep waiting for the 3 run homer. Ozzie needs to call more hit-and-runs, etc.
-
This is the 2nd time in three games that we had no business losing the game.
-
Now Timo hits the flyball! Hopefully that's his last AB ever with the Sox.
-
Rowand chased ball 4
-
So Jabroni, where's that post I made saying Timo shouldn't have been hitting for Dye?
-
I want the old PK back that used to hit liners. I'm sick of this homer or nothing s***.
