  1. QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Aug 6, 2005 -> 03:09 AM) he also has an ERA of 4.03 for his career. So he's having a bad year however his career numbers aren't that bad. He's not fully recovered from his arm injuries. He doesn't have the same stuff that allowed him to put up those numbers. Were people saying the same thing about Koch a few years ago? Career numbers mean nothing in baseball, especially in the age of steroids and injuries.
  2. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Aug 6, 2005 -> 03:09 AM) But as bad as we played, according to you, we still took 2 out of 4 against the second best team in the AL when we are slumping at home. So why would we have a tougher time going on the road to Boston when we are much better on the road this year, and we have played decent in Boston the last couple of years. BTW, the next two teams we face are ranked 10th and 13th in the league right around KC and Tampa. So really, we are facing bullpens that are just as bad, but lets just ignore that We won those games against Boston because we played solid fundamental baseball, got a lot of base runners, and were able to avoid the big inning. What's been killing us lately is that exact opposite of that. And when I'm referring to bullpens, I'm talking about being able to come from behind late in the game like we did so often against KC this year. You're right, Gordon/Rivera and Timlin/Schilling are just as bad as Sisco/Macdougal are. If you really think that the bullpens are similar, you're nuts. The Yankees and Red Sox have released a lot of the relievers that were killing their bullpen ERA.
  3. QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Aug 6, 2005 -> 03:05 AM) no he won 15 games in 03. He has very good stuff. With that philosophy, you must have really wanted the Sox to trade for J. Schmidt!
  4. QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Aug 6, 2005 -> 03:05 AM) no he won 15 games in 03. He has very good stuff. He's not close to being the same pitcher since he's had a plethora of injury problems. The guy had an ERA over 6 pitching in a terrific park to pitch in! I used to be a fan of Pineiro....but he had nothing tonight. He no longer gets the good quick snap on his curve...and it hangs a lot now. We had plenty of chances to light him up tonight.
  5. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Aug 6, 2005 -> 03:02 AM) Boston didn't "beat" us when we played bad against them at home two weeks ago. Are you serious? We played awful in two games against them, and they beat us. We could have easily swept that series. The awful defense in the first game, and just terrible hitting early in the Saturday game cost us the chance of a sweep.
  6. QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Aug 6, 2005 -> 03:02 AM) You know what Pinero pitched a very good game and he is a pretty good pitcher. So tip your cap to him and move on. Is that sarcasm?
  7. QUOTE(Art Vandelay @ Aug 6, 2005 -> 02:58 AM) Boy, ain't that the truth. If that's not a testament of just how s***ty we've been at home, then I don't know what is. Who would have ever of thought we'd be excited about going on the road to NYY and Boston? The only chance this team has of not making the playoffs is if we have a prolonged slump. We're playing good enough teams for the next few weeks that if we play bad, they will beat us. We're not facing bullpens of Tampa or KC anymore.
  8. This team needs its hunger back. Everyday, there's another story in the paper about how we need to rest our players for the postseason, etc. Lets just go out and show the rest of the AL why we had the best record all year! No more playing not to lose. We need to make things happen on the field.
  9. QUOTE(Sox Hustler @ Aug 6, 2005 -> 02:49 AM) ...horrible. That's all that needs to be said, this is pathetic. I know I'm not supposed to be optimistic....but I am. We're still 13 games up now, and quite frankly....we're not a very good team currently. I'm nervous about playing against NYY and Boston next week, with the way they're swinging the bats. However, maybe the intensity of the games will bring out the best in our players.
  10. QUOTE(CYGarland @ Aug 6, 2005 -> 02:48 AM) 4-10 in are last games at home = :puke I thought it was worse than that?
  11. With Everett out, I think it's time we call up Brian Anderson. Who are we planning on playing at DH against lefties? I have a bad feeling it's going to be Ozuna.
  12. Our offense needs help! I know people were asking for a lot in return....but with Everett likely gimpy for a week or more, we can't stick with the lineup we have. You need to be able to score runs at the Cell...this isn't Chavez Ravine.
  13. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Aug 6, 2005 -> 02:42 AM) That's because I don't spout off garbage and b**** after every at bat. If I did, I would expect someone to say somthing. None of this is personal. I'm just not going to sit here and let you throw out wrong info so you can b**** at the Sox. Again, I ask you to come up with something that I'm totally wrong about. I already admitted I was a homer off on the Sexson quote I made earlier. I might be pessimistic...but I know baseball as well as anyone on this board.
  14. When's the last time we hit a ball hard tonight?
  15. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Aug 6, 2005 -> 02:40 AM) Where did I say Sexson sucks? You won't find it. 0 for 10 is not hot. .158 in last 7 games is NOT hot. You have absolutely no clue what you are talking about wrt anything. I said Sexson was on fire, and you went out of your way to say how he was struggling. Now, you're really just trying to pick a fight.
  16. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Aug 6, 2005 -> 02:39 AM) Yah, that was only after he said Jenks shouldn't do two innings in a row. And I gave me reason why. I would love to analyze every single comment you make....but I'd rather just let it go. I don't want this board to be about people fighting with each other, and that's why I never make anything personal. If you disagree w/me...fine.
  17. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Aug 6, 2005 -> 02:38 AM) Chill out. If you followed him at B-Ham at all, you'd know that he was doing it a ton down there. He's fine. No, I know he did that frequently. I was just making an observation that in games where he went more than one inning, his stuff dropped drastically. It was great to see him maintain his stuff tonight. I wasn't b****ing, I promise!
  18. QUOTE(Sox Hustler @ Aug 6, 2005 -> 02:37 AM) Joel had a 6.06 ERA entering this game with 19 GS, there is no reason why they only scored 2 runs. They get RISP but don't do ANYTHING with em. Their just not getting it done, no excuses. He hung pitch after pitch tonight. PK and Crede, especially, had great pitches to hit. We also hit into two DP that killed potential rallies.
  19. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Aug 6, 2005 -> 02:36 AM) I wasn't talking to you. You b**** and whine about everything White Sox no matter what, so I'm not even going to bother anymore. Why do you make everything personal? I've gone out of my way not to go off on you. Find me something I said tonight that doesn't make sense? Still think Sexson sucks, after he looks to have the game winning RBI tonight?
  20. That was the best showing by Jenks over a 2 inning stretch.
  21. QUOTE(CYGarland @ Aug 6, 2005 -> 02:34 AM) At home, not on the road. Sweeping two 4 game sets at Cleveland and Baltimore is not easy no matter how you slice it. This team has just sucked at home for the last 2 months, plain and simple! You can analyze it anyway you want, but it's definitely not good. BTW, I was being sarcastic. I don't think this is a slump at all for our offense. We have a lot of guys who don't get on base very much, and a lot of guys who aren't good line drive hitters. When the homers aren't flying out of the park....we're not scoring.
  22. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Aug 6, 2005 -> 02:32 AM) We faced 3 good Oakland pitchers. Three good Detroit pitchers. A couple of deceent Toronto pitchers. Listen. We've scored 5 or more runs at home in 10 of our last 15 home games. THAT IS NOT AN OFFENSIVE SLUMP. We just havne't been winning all the close games. It's just a little team slump, and in between, we've played great at home. Those Toronto pitchers we faced were brutal (I think even Rowand44 would say that). We've been losing to a lot of pitchers that we should be hitting harder than we have. Saarloos and Haren aren't exactly studs for Oakland.
  23. QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ Aug 6, 2005 -> 02:31 AM) Yep. One we need to shake out of. Unless we get a lot of guys finding their home run swing in unison, we're going to continue to struggle.
  24. Ugh, I don't like seeing Jenks go two innings right now. He definitely doesn't seem to bounce back good when going out for the 2nd inning, in terms of maintaining his velocity. I'd rather just have him be a one inning dominator right now.
  25. QUOTE(CYGarland @ Aug 6, 2005 -> 02:30 AM) Wow, this is sad. IT'S JUST A SLUMP!
