OMIT TIMO!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
QUOTE(DABearSoX @ May 29, 2005 -> 08:50 PM) looks like our pitching is coming back to earth......gonna be a rough 4 months if this is how we are going to play I pointed this out in the game thread. The biggest difference between our pitching early in the season...and recent games is the following: The first 40 games or so, our pitchers did an amazing job at getting the big 3rd out in an inning in crucial situations. In four of our last five losses, the winning run scored against us with 2 outs. Between Dubois' homer, Kennedy's double, McPherson's homer, and Mench's homer.....those were all with 2 outs. Remember how guys like El Duque were able to pull a rabbit out of their ass in order get out of big innings against the Twins, etc?
-
I hope we get enough runners so Ozzie can let OMIT TIMO bat for Crede.
-
Why would anyone want PK to make the all-star team this year? He's been brutal for us for the most part. I would much rather guys like Iguchi, Hermanson, and a few of our starters make it.

QUOTE(whitesox91403 @ May 29, 2005 -> 08:51 PM) This game is a blow-out. How many blow-outs has this team been on the losing end of this year? 1, maybe 2? Let's all relax, there is 112 games to go. 2 in a row against a good hitting team. I'm more impressed we beat this team twice a few weeks ago.
-
The talent level on this team is freakishly low right now. I can't imagine what coudl be going on if Contreras didn't look so damn good right now. I sincerely hope that he'll keep it up, it's fun to watch him pitch.
-
I sincerely hope this is the last we see of Shingo on a Sox roster. Billy Koch was better than he was last season. At least there was hope Koch might get his fastball back.

QUOTE(JimH @ May 29, 2005 -> 08:47 PM) They need to figure something out, they're working around him right now. If he's the mop up guy, fine, but then he'll need to be able to throw 3+ innings and he can't do that. Exactly. Shingo has officially reached Danny Wright status with me now. Any time he gets out of the inning without allowing a run, I'm shocked.
-
As I was saying, please get rid of Shingo. He has nothing left.
-
Shingo needs to be released. I know it wont happen, but he just doesn't have enough left to get out MLB hitters.
-
QUOTE(JimH @ May 29, 2005 -> 08:41 PM) Takatsu is officially our mop up guy now I guess. As well he should be. Every time I look up and he's pitching, another Sox outfielder is going to the track to catch the ball.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ May 29, 2005 -> 08:37 PM) I believe we also play the Padres, and they're just about as hot as Texas right now. The Diamondbacks are also playing quite well. The only "easy" mark for us is a set in Colorado. With our hitting, there's no such thing as an easy game. Nearly every game we played against KC was a close game this year, and we easily could have lost about 4 of the 6 games we beat them.
-
QUOTE(Balta1701 @ May 29, 2005 -> 08:35 PM) If Uribe follows the Dye pattern...He won't have a hit for the next 4 games. What happened to the Podsednik from about a week ago? He looks terrible up there right now. It'd be lovely to see him take a walk. Just 1. I'm telling you, he looks awfully tired up there. His bat is dragging through the zone. Luckily, he was able to find some holes on flares in the last week to avoid any 0-20s, etc.
-
QUOTE(WilliamTell @ May 29, 2005 -> 08:36 PM) 0-5 for him today? He's looked like s*** recently. I love Pods, but he needs to get back to hitting the ball hard on the ground/line. He's done his best Willie Harris impression lately.
-
QUOTE(AirScott @ May 29, 2005 -> 08:35 PM) and all those hits happened late, normally the time that a reliever might come in. Ozzie has proved in his time here that he's going to put the game in the hands of the starter. Hell, the one time he actually took out a pitcher too early (McCarthy last Sunday), his decision lost us the game.
-
The biggest difference in the last week compared to previous games was the fact that early in the season, our pitchers were pulling a rabbit out of their ass to get out of innings with 2 outs. Lately, we've given up the big 2 out hit instead of getting the guy out (Dubois homer, Kennedy's double, McPherson's homer, Mench's homer).

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ May 29, 2005 -> 08:30 PM) How about putting some runs on the board. Getting runners in when you have men on 2nd and 3rd with less than two outs. Play like they have heart. Thats what I want. And a side note to all of the rah rah boys: And before people start questioning peoples loyalty because a person may have a disenting opinion. Remember people here spend a lot of time talking whitesox and watching every game. I bleed whitesox black and white just as much as anyone. I want a good product on the field. I expect a lot from this team. They have a great start, DONT f***ING waste that great start or rest on your laurels. The KC Royals had a great start two years ago, guess what they finished 3rd. You have to play consistantly, and its a marathon. Dont question peoples loyality because they dont say, hey they are have 7 out of 9 guys batting sub 260. YEAH. I personally spent a few grand to cart my entire family down to tuscon for two weeks every year for the last 5 years. Go to soxfest, go to about 20-30 games a year. I never miss a f***ing game. Before any of you rah rah boys question our loyalty get a clue.

QUOTE(jerseysox @ May 29, 2005 -> 08:30 PM) who would you say are going to be the first basemen on this year's all-star team? i think the guy who is first in homers and second in ribbies among first basemen will probably be on that team, no? i don't live in chicago, so perhaps i've avoided it, but does everyone out there suffer from twin-is envy? PK won't be making the all-star team. I can guarantee you that.

QUOTE(JimH @ May 29, 2005 -> 08:29 PM) So if they lose this game it's a 4-5 road trip, they lost 1 1/2 games to the Twins in the standings over that time period, and have their next 18 of 24 games at home. Well said. This road trip could have been much worse. We honestly got lucky as hell in the Cubs Saturday game against Zambrano, and could have easily lost that extra inning Angels game.
-
QUOTE(jerseysox @ May 29, 2005 -> 08:25 PM) what's the logic? paulie is 0 for 3 today so you want to get rid of him? Wow, I don't recall I ever said that. I'm just saying that if I had the choice, I'd take Morenau, no questions asked. Also, for the person who said Garcia and Silva isn't a pretty even match-up.....I disagree. Silva has got off to a great start, but he still gives up a ton of hits in a game. His ERA is also better than he's really been because of a few unearned runs. In the long run, I bet they end up with similar numbers.
-
QUOTE(Spod=Ratings @ May 29, 2005 -> 08:23 PM) i am not saying there great but look at the record they are in first place and best record in the bigs. what more do you want! 2003 KC Royals. I pray that we don't end up like them, and I think we're more legit than that team was. However, we're going NOWHERE if we continue to have easy outs in our lineup.
-
QUOTE(maggsmaggs @ May 29, 2005 -> 08:23 PM) I would take Lew Ford over Everett and possibly Frank, Morneau over PK, Stewart over Pods, Jones over Dye, Cuddyer over Crede, their plantoon over Uribe, Mauer over A.J. Santana over Buerhle, Radke over Garland, Silva over Garcia, Mays over El-Duque and only Contreras over Lohse. Not to mention their entire bullpen over ours with the lone exception of Hermy. I'd take Uribe over their SS platoon in the long run. Also, Garcia and Silva is a pretty even match-up.
-
QUOTE(jerseysox @ May 29, 2005 -> 08:21 PM) are you joking? morneau hasn't even played a full season yet. paulie is a proven 30-plus homer guy. i'm glad we're not overreacting on this board or anything. I'd take Morneau over PK in a heartbeat.

QUOTE(Spod=Ratings @ May 29, 2005 -> 08:19 PM) reading some of these posts makes me sick saying the game is over, and this team sucks. I know it may look bleak but its not over till its over some of you call yourselfs fans well try acting like it and have faith. And for the people saying we suck we are palying the hottest team in baseball right now! just have some patience Remember when we were the hottest team in baseball, and everyone said that we weren't allowed to complain about anything? All of us on here are Sox fans, I can guarantee you that. However, it's painfully obvious that our current lineup is not good enough to win the division over the long haul. That's our biggest concern. f***, you don't even see us trashing Garland that bad for having a terrible inning and throwing a meatball with 2 strikes. Could you imagine how bad he would have been bashed last year if he did the same thing?
-
QUOTE(JimH @ May 29, 2005 -> 08:19 PM) It's a little annoying. I understand trying to be objective though. I know, I'm the last person to complain about an announcer saying nice things about the opposition. However, he just seems a little too eager to compliment the Rangers at every opportunity.
