Wow, this is f***ing pathetic.

Mr. groundball to the left side. What happened to Rowand's swing from last year?

QUOTE(Brian @ Aug 4, 2005 -> 01:11 AM) Up 15 on Cleveland in the loss column, with 50 some games left. Tough for them to play 16 games better than us in that span. If it gets to 5 games, I'll worry. The only thing that would even make me consider that the Indians could go on a massive run is the fact they play 20 of their last 56 games against Tampa and KC. Thankfully, neither of these teams traded away their big guys. Thus, it won't be like they're playing their AAA teams.

We can't outslug teams at home lately, and it's killing us. It's not like we've been facing a lot of tough pitchers in this stretch at home either.

QUOTE(jphat007 @ Aug 4, 2005 -> 01:07 AM) It would be the biggest choke in the history of sports if that happened. It's not going to happen. Just like how people said there was no way the Red Sox would beat the Yankees after being down 3 games last year? I'm sorry, but there's no guarantees in sports.

QUOTE(Brian @ Aug 4, 2005 -> 01:06 AM) His stats are actually very similar vs. righties and lefties. Lefties bat .287 compared to .275 for righties. He walks lefties a lot more. My computer is unbelievably slow right now, but I would guess the OPS against him by lefties is much higher.

QUOTE(CYGarland @ Aug 4, 2005 -> 01:05 AM) Pk has to know they are going to throw him a 1st pitch breaking ball everytime Another terrible AB in a clutch situation for PK.
-
QUOTE(jphat007 @ Aug 4, 2005 -> 01:03 AM) I would MUCH rather they be in the wildcard than Oakland or LAA. I know we've talked about this before, but I'm more concerned with just winning the division right now. The Indians schedule is so easy, while ours is rather difficult, that if the Indians get on a real hot streak, they could make a race out of the AL Central.

QUOTE(GBlum27 @ Aug 4, 2005 -> 12:59 AM) Real sharp inning from El Dque. Let's chip away It's all about facing righties for Duque. He still has good enough stuff to be tough on righties. Lefties get such a good look at his pitches, and he definitely doesn't have the type of control he needs against lefties.
-
Indians have just scored 5 runs in the 5th to take a 5-4 lead against the Yankees. Nothing like a sweep against the Yankees to boost a team's momentum.
-
Pods has to stop with his half-assed swings at the plate. He's 2 for his last 20 now.
-
No one hits more choppers to third than Mr. Rowand. Indians are coming back against the Yankees, with Jeff Leifer having a big hit.
-
f***, big out right there made by Dye. We're such a slow team after our leadoff hitter.
-
That ball was crushed. I have a feeling one of the teams tonight is going to end up w/double digit runs.
-
QUOTE(GBlum27 @ Aug 4, 2005 -> 12:29 AM) Let's see how the offense responds to being in a big hole Hopefully better than it did last night.
-
Wasn't there only one strike on Shea when he got hit by that pitch/swung?
-
Even after his last two starts, I still felt this way: I don't want Duque close to starting in a playoff game. That was a f***ing pathetic inning there.
-
We f***ing suck at home now. Duque doesn't have much of a prayer against a team full of lefties like he's facing tonight. What's the chances he leaves cause of injury tonight?
-
What's the highest Duque's been clocked on the gun tonight? He looks a lot slower than he did vs the Orioles in his last start.
-
This has the potential to be a very long night.

Do the Sox need to look over their shoulders

QUOTE(ChWRoCk2 @ Aug 3, 2005 -> 04:42 AM) im just hoping for oakland to move up to the top of the al west so we dont have to play them I'm just hoping to make the playoffs. If that is accomplished, then you have to take on any and all comers. This isn't like the NCAA Tournament, where you can hope that a massive underdog knocks off a favorite before you play them. -

QUOTE(ChWRoCk2 @ Aug 3, 2005 -> 04:36 AM) f*** oakland, why the hell are we thinking about them, cleveland has been doing pretty damn good lately if i dont say so myself, IMO the twins are out and the injuries have hurt them even my friend who is a twins fan admitted that they are done. Everyone is forgetting that the indians have been doin pretty damn good lately and are able to catch up to us now that their team is starting to hit a little better Indians have an incredibly easy schedule the rest of the way. It's too bad they didn't trade away some of their guys at the deadline. I think they have a more realistic chance at giving us a battle down the stretch (sure, it's a longshot...but crazier things have happened). -
It would be nice to win at least 2 games this homestand (at the very least) with our hardest road trip of the year coming up. At this point, as long as the team can avoid prolonged slumps, they should have no problem making the playoffs.

QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Aug 3, 2005 -> 04:30 AM) I know, i know. Going righty/lefty just for the sake of going righty/lefty doesn't do too much. Besides, Everett is switch. If he really wanted to do that, he could do something like Dye/Pierz/Konerko/Everett. I'm not suggesting it, though. Although it's not terrible. Just so you know, Ozzie was on the pregame show today saying that the reason he put Blum in the 8 hole was so he could go lefty/righty. Something that makes me worry about Everett is that he'll try to hard to produce with Frank out. He had a massive uppercut going in his swing tonight. At least he's not swinging and missing at everything like he was a few months ago.
-
QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Aug 3, 2005 -> 04:22 AM) Very well played. Anyway, get over any other guys coming in to help this lineup. Let's just figure something out with the guys we have, eh? Just for the record, I wasn't saying that we needed Huff for this lineup. It was clear once that Manny trade was proposed that there was no way the Sox were going to give up as much as they wanted for Huff/Baez. Ozzie isn't going to take Everett out of the 3rd hole, as he likes going lefty/righty as much as he possibly can.
