  1. Does Mike Huff know he's announcing for the Sox, and not the Rangers?
  2. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ May 29, 2005 -> 08:16 PM) They are not better than us...almost 1 through 9 we have better players. Aside from Torii Hunter and maybe Joe Mauer, can you name a guy who they have who is a better player at their position than the guy we have? At least on paper, in terms of career numbers, we have better players at almost every position. Our guys are just hugely underperforming. It's absolutely ridiculous. These guys should be so much better than they are but it seems like they just won't snap out of it. I'd take Morneau at 1b, Stewart in LF, and Jones in RF. The only positions I feel like we're better than the Twins are 2nd base and SS. Cuddyer has looked better than Crede this year.
  3. QUOTE(WilliamTell @ May 29, 2005 -> 08:15 PM) I just want to see the White Sox put a 5 spot up sometime, this is just pissing me off. Hard to have a consistent rally when there's SO many easy outs in your lineup. Also, our inability to draw a walk really kills us in rallies.
  4. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ May 29, 2005 -> 08:13 PM) Who is showing that they are coming out of it? I think he meant that no one really is showing signs. I do like the way Dye is swinging the bat right now. Clearly, our biggest offensive problem is Crede. The person I'm worried about is Pods (sorry Rowand44). So much of our offense has been based on him getting on base, and he seems to not be reaching base nearly as much as he was during our great stretch.
  5. QUOTE(maggsmaggs @ May 29, 2005 -> 08:11 PM) It's simple the Twins are built much better than we are. Their hitters are"hitters," they 8 Iguchi's in their line-up, everyone except Hunter. All the Twins hitters hit opposite way and that's why they have such a solid line-up. Their pitching staff doesn't walk anyone and their bullpen is so deep, that they can afford to take a pitcher out in the 6th or 7th without wasting the pen. Let's face it they are better than us again, we are very lucky that we have a 3.5 game lead. The scary thing is Johan and Nathan are struggling a little bit now. Couldn't have said it better myself.
  6. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ May 29, 2005 -> 08:10 PM) Garland's defense let him down a bit too - Uribe should have turned that double play...Texiera was running far, far harder than Uribe was on that ground ball last inning. If he turns that, then the inning ends with 1 run given up. Dye should never have let that last ball past him either. I agree about Uribe's lack of intensity when turning that DP. However, that inning was solely Garland's fault. He made bad pitch after bad pitch. He even got bailed out on a nice catch by Dye.
  7. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ May 29, 2005 -> 08:08 PM) We've got plenty of guys capable of playing small ball, but our guys just aren't smart enough to realize it. The speed doesn't matter if you're playing smart ball. We've stopped playing smart ball, and it is costing us a ton of runs. If we're designed for smallball, Ozzie needs to try and play that way. Hell, the only time he used a hit-and-run in the last month was with Widger on first, and Uribe at the base. Why not use it for ground ball guys like Pods, Ozuna, Iguchi, and Harris?
  8. QUOTE(Whitesoxfan56 @ May 29, 2005 -> 08:07 PM) atleast we all no the good o jon garland is back...i knew this wouldnt last long Garland actually pitched very well for the first 5 innings. He got burned on some s***ty fastballs/location in the last inning. He should have used his curve more on righties....he had a great curve today.
  9. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ May 29, 2005 -> 08:05 PM) The Dodgers were on fire for a few weeks there too. We are so much better of a team than this on paper. Especially at the bat. This is just so freaking frustrating...every single guy on this team other than Iguchi and Pods are hitting well below their career averages. That's the problem, our pitching is so much worse on paper than it has been so far this year. Will Contreras and Garland continue to pitch like all-stars the rest of the year? Very doubtful (but possible). El Duque will likely be touch-and-go the rest of the season with his injury.
  10. QUOTE(WilliamTell @ May 29, 2005 -> 08:02 PM) Yeah, maybe some of the critics were right about us finishing 3rd or 4th. While I don't think that's going to happen, it makes you wonder how this team has had the best record in baseball for over a month. We were winning games earlier on we had absolutely no reason to win. How many games were we on here saying how lucky we got, etc. Well, our hitting is worse now than it was back then, and our pitching has not been getting that tough 3rd out in the big inning. Our smallball approach is simply awful. We have 2 players capable of playing that way, and their ability is minimized by terrible hitters batting right after them.
  11. Are we allowed to greet this team at the airport and boo Ozzie now? Just kidding....I think.
  12. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ May 29, 2005 -> 07:59 PM) Unlike earlier this year, we are not putting long winning streak together anymore. We are hovering. Playing sub 500 ball. Guess what if you play sub 500 ball the rest of the division will catch up. The Twins are a better team than we are. It will take the Sox playing great ball for the last 100 games of the season or so in order for us to beat them for the division. I don't think this team is good enough to play great ball over the course of the season. Too many easy outs.
  13. Ozzie......he's allowed 7 runs, including 6 this inning. Take his f***ing ass out.
  14. Way to leave him in Ozzie, you dumb motherf***er. Garland should have been pulled right after Mench's homer. Dye's defense back to reality with a terrible play there in the outfield. He should have just played it off the bounce.
  15. Quite frankly, this Sox team sucks right now.
  16. QUOTE(Tadahito15 @ May 29, 2005 -> 07:56 PM) Well that really sucks. I knew we should've taken him out while we still could have. Oh well. Still 3.5 games up with Frank's bat coming to help us along with a trade Im sure. I'm the biggest hindsight guy there is, but no way do you take Garland out for Mench before. He had made some good pitches on Mench in this game. I do find it pathetic that Ozzie didn't even have anyone warming up.
  17. This was Garland's worst inning of the season. Everything has been up. Of course, if Uribe would have shown any urgency on that double play ball, we would have been out of the inning.
  18. One day, we're going to learn that Mench is a dead fastball hitter.
  19. I'd just like to say f*** you to Mike Huff, who's a terrible announcer and shouldn't be saying a ball if foul off the bat, etc. until he knows for sure.
  20. Terrible pitch there to Mench. You need to throw someone like him an offspeed pitch.
  21. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ May 29, 2005 -> 07:51 PM) This Texas team is just stacked. Indeed it is. That's why 3 runs won't be enough to win a game against them in Texas.
  22. That's what happens when you don't try to pull everything on the outside corner.
  23. Wow, great catch by Dye. That ball looked like it was knuckling on him also.
  24. Hey Juan, you might want to show a little sense of urgency on that play.
  25. Garland making some terrible pitches this inning.
