Dusty said it did hit him directly on the elbow.

QUOTE(Steff @ May 27, 2005 -> 09:15 PM) He arrived at Northwestern via ambulance with his wife and trainer. That's funny, because Comcast just said again that he drove himself to the hospital...and used it as good news to show he was ok enough to do that. I trust your report a lot more though.

Chacon isn't pitching for the Rockies tomorrow. He's scratched with a bad ankle, and everyone's favorite B. Kim will be going tomorrow.
-
QUOTE(thomsonmi @ May 27, 2005 -> 08:55 PM) Game plan against the Rox... Show up. You have a 75% chance of beating them. Good point, even though I hate the idea of our team having to outslug another team on the road.
-
Game plan against Rockies.....test their 3rd baseman. Also, we should be able to run at will against them. They've only thrown out one base runner all year.
-
QUOTE(Steff @ May 27, 2005 -> 08:51 PM) Hmm.. my boss said they watched him get into an ambulance at the players lot entrance.. I highly doubt Prior actually drove himself! I know he's the Messiah and all, but it would seem painful to have to keep your right elbow elevated while you drive.

QUOTE(Jabroni @ May 27, 2005 -> 08:49 PM) The Comcast update just said that Prior left the game and drove himself to Northwestern Hospital for precautionary X-Rays. Interesting terminology they used. Precautionary X-rays are usually done for very minor injuries, etc.
-
QUOTE(Jabroni @ May 27, 2005 -> 08:45 PM) Who knows. It could be just a deep bone contusion or something like that. Judging by how much it swelled up, they'd have a very tough time diagnosing anything but a fracture right now.
-
Another thing that won't make me shed a tear about a possible season-ending injury for Prior is that we still have another series against the Cubs. I know a lot of people would rather face their best.....but I would be just as happy if we beat an A ball pitcher (might be tougher for us it seems).
-
QUOTE(Punch and Judy Garland @ May 27, 2005 -> 08:43 PM) Part of the reason that there are 7 pages is that we all get this game, the radio stations that talk about it, and there is nothing else on tv on a Friday afternoon! And don't forget, this is the Messiah we're talking about. If it was Dempster or Rusch, we would not be talking about it so much.
-
QUOTE(Jabroni @ May 27, 2005 -> 08:42 PM) Pat Hughes on WGN 720 is saying that they are going to wait until after the game to make the announcement on Prior. That doesn't sound too promising then. If he was ok, they would announce it right away.
-
QUOTE(thomsonmi @ May 27, 2005 -> 08:37 PM) Which is why we should call up Brian Anderson for June 6,7, and 8. I can't even imagine Everett trying to play in the outfield at that spacious field.

I don't recall the Cubs fans exactly feeling sorry for us when the rumor about Buehrle's foot injury started in spring training.
-
FWIW, all I've read is that Levine said it hit him squarely on the elbow.
-
QUOTE(Jabroni @ May 27, 2005 -> 08:05 PM) Okay, so maybe you didn't say that I personally feel that way but you did assume that some Sox fans do. Just because I post news about the Cubs doesn't mean I or anyone else who does feels this way. I have a feeling jabroni and I think the same way on this. In order, our favorite teams are the Sox, the Twins opponent, and then the Cubs opponent. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong jabroni.

So did anyone actually hear the report on ESPN1000?
-
If it was Wood or Maddux, I would feel a little different about the situation. Those guys I actually have respect for off the field. However, Prior and Zambrano don't exactly get well wishes for me. I don't mean injuries when I say that. More like I wish Prior and Zambrano nothing but failure on the field.
-
A question for everyone giving some of us a hard time about not exactly being upset that Prior got hurt........would you still feel the same way if Johan Santana got hurt?
-
QUOTE(Steff @ May 27, 2005 -> 07:49 PM) Maybe YOU were laughing about other teams injuries.. I have no shame in admitting that I root against the Cubs. If a Cubs player gets injured, I'm definitely not going to shed a tear. Yes, it sucks for them.....but lets just be thankful that it hasn't happened to any of our pitchers yet. The reason that a lot of us were laughing our ass off last year with the Wood, Prior injuries, etc. had a lot to deal with how Cubs fans were acting like it was the end of the world when they heard they'd be out. If this makes me immature, then so be it. I don't understand the holier than thou attitude that so many people have on here. Are we not entitled to our own opinion on different things without people trying to say we're horrible people?
-
Just remember.....we were laughing like crazy at the Cubs injuires last season early on in the year. Then, we just so happened to lose Frank and Ordonez for the season, and our season was over.
-
Cubs announcers keep saying it hit him above the elbow, but there's no way to tell where it hit him.
-
That ball could not have caught him more directly on the elbow. There's definitely a chance it could have fractured his elbow.

QUOTE(mrzo2733 @ May 27, 2005 -> 07:15 PM) If we're gonna go after an outfielder I'd like him to be better than Mackowiak. Mackowiak has been playing a lot of 3rd base this season for Pitt. With his strong lefty bat, he'd be a perfect fit for our team.
-
Mackowiak is a much more likely, and realistic option to be traded for than Chavez.

QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ May 27, 2005 -> 04:47 AM) It seems to me that Contreras always starts to get weak come the 7th inning, thats when he gives up his runs all the time it seems... That's a good analysis. He was clearly hanging his forkball in that inning. He pitched a great game though, and will face the same Angels team next week.
