  1. QUOTE(Tadahito15 @ May 29, 2005 -> 07:43 PM) I dont think we are going to score anymore runs.... 3 runs won't win this game.
  2. Crede really has some moments in a game where it looks like he's never played before. His reaction on the foul ball was comical before.
  3. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ May 29, 2005 -> 07:29 PM) They have had two times this series where they have gotten something going. On Friday night late in the game, and earlier today. Its when they go with the pitches. If its in, Pull it. If its outside dont. Yet when something that shows you sucess, please dont repeat it. Just go back to PULL BASEBALL SON. It all relates to being an easy out. That same pitch that Dye took for a called 3rd was a very tough pitch. However, that's the same type of pitch you see guys like Stewart or L. Ford flip out to right field for hits (both guys the epitome of tough outs). However, basically Iguchi is the only one on our team who would protect the plate in a similar situation and just go with the pitch.
  4. QUOTE(Jabroni @ May 29, 2005 -> 07:28 PM) Wow, nice sequence by Garland. Gets down 3-0 on Mench. Gets a strike and then gets him to groundout. Agreed
  5. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ May 29, 2005 -> 07:27 PM) Actually he's been making solid contact a lot lately just not getting a whole bunch of hits. Ah, we're back to disagreeing! That's more like it
  6. QUOTE(qwerty @ May 29, 2005 -> 07:25 PM) The current strike zone in the mlb sucks ass. True, but once you know what the ump's zone is, you need to protect. Garland got the same call, if not more outside, on Young earlier in the game.
  7. Whoever made the comment about the Sox not protecting the plate with 2 strikes is exactly right.
  8. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ May 29, 2005 -> 07:22 PM) Isn't Konerko a year or two younger than Helton? I'm just saying, involving Konerko would make the trade look better for the PR aspects of Colorado. Plus, he's not "that" bad of a player, either. I'm not positive, but I'm pretty sure they wouldn't balk at a deal that started with Tracey/Fields... PK's a FA at the end of this year! That's why he's not exactly a hot commodity for any team looking to rebuild. Also, Field is going to have to start to produce a little more in the minors before he has a lot of trade value. He's not exactly lighting up the minors.
  9. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ May 29, 2005 -> 07:19 PM) Good point. Helton or not, if Konerko doesn't produce, Kenny isn't just going to say, "well, he's been here for a while and he's sort of a face on this franchise so we're going to live through his suckiness". Aubrey Huff could be an option. I doubt they'd go young at first with a guy like Ryan Howard... Or, they could trade for an OF'er and move Jermaine Dye to first. There's a lot of options, and I'm sure Kenny is looking at every "available" player. If Konerko sucks it up, Gload will be given every chance to win the 1b job. As much as PK has struggled this year, he's honestly the least of our offensive troubles. 3rd base is a much bigger concern. I'm sure Ozzie thinks Timo can play 1b if need be.
  10. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ May 29, 2005 -> 07:15 PM) The package for Garcia wasn't huge, and it looks a lot better now that Olivo has been absolutely atrocious in Seattle. Reed was the only top-notch guy we gave up, as Morse was viewed (by some here) as a guy that was still developing and still, might have to make the move to a different position. In retrospect, the trade wasn't that much to give up. However, at the time, it was almost a consensus opinion that we gave up a ton of talent to get Garcia.
  11. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ May 29, 2005 -> 07:11 PM) Yuck. If that's the case, then ya can't pick up a contract that big without some help from the team sending him over. But, if they were willing to pick up some of the contract, I'd start with a package of Konerko/Tracey. Hell, I wouldn't object to giving up someone like Josh Fields (yes, the first round pick) for Helton, if they ate a lot of it... Rockies have Ian Stewart as their 3rd baseman of the future. There's no comparison between him and Fields. If we get someone as top-notch as Helton, we're going to have to say goodbye to 2 of the 3: McCarthy, Anderson, Sweeney. Remember how much we gave up for Garcia last year?
  12. First time the shift has worked for the Sox all year it seems.
  13. QUOTE(JimH @ May 29, 2005 -> 07:09 PM) Yes, I heard some of the same stuff in Tucson. As bad as the Rockies are, they love Helton, he's the face of their franchise. They'd have to be bowled over and blown away to trade him and at least for now I also heard they do not want to pick up any of his salary, they've taken a lot of heat for doing that. Yep, it's one thing to trade Walker and Hampton. But Helton is easily the best player in franchise history, and they'd piss off their fans if they gave another team money to take him off their hands.
  14. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ May 29, 2005 -> 07:08 PM) Yikes, Pods GIDP He's really having a rough time at the plate in terms of making solid contact. His bat seems to be dragging through the zone big time.
  15. As much as we've bashed them, good job by our 8-9 guys this inning.
  16. Finally, Uribe just went with the pitch. I was scared Soriano was going to catch it. How about a hit-and-run with Pods here!
  17. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ May 29, 2005 -> 07:04 PM) I didn't hear that. I believe you, but do you got an article link to where they said it? Because, I'm not suggesting the Sox pick up the whole contract. They've picked up a big portion of the salary before, with Walker and Hampton, no reason to think they won't do it again -- IMO. Sorry, no official link to that. That's just the popular opinion that I've heard from some members of the Orioles organization, a team which is very much trying to trade for Helton.
  18. Great to see Rowand start to hit some doubles down the line like he did last year. However, I have a bad feeling we wont get any of the runners in here. Just hit a grounder to 2nd Crede!
  19. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ May 29, 2005 -> 07:03 PM) Fabulous AB by Dye Agreed. He always looks great in Texas.
  20. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ May 29, 2005 -> 07:01 PM) AJ!!!!! And fathom, don't tell me that Kenny can't or won't do something (for better or for worse). We would have had one of Carlos Delgado or Larry Walker had either wanted to come here. Helton, Coors Field or not, is one of the best hitters in all of baseball. Obviously, money would have to come to us, but I'm almost 100% he's looking at Helton. Well, Delgado was a FA after the season, so there was no worry about his contract. As for Walker....the Rockies were willing to pick up a huge portion of his salary in a trade. The Rockies have already said they won't pick up any of Helton's contract if he's traded.
  21. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ May 29, 2005 -> 06:58 PM) If Kenny thinks that a bat like Helton can put us over the top, he's going to go for him, regardless of his contract. Says who? It's one thing to make a deal for someone who has a big contract for the rest of the season. It's another thing to make a deal for someone who's still owed tens of millions of dollars. With that in mind, we're better off keeping PK for the rest of the year instead of being stuck with Helton's huge contract.
  22. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ May 29, 2005 -> 06:55 PM) I know it seems unrealistic... But I bet Williams is looking to Colorado at Helton. And yes, I know the contract structure. Kenny isn't a stupid man, he's definitely looking to upgrade 1B and 3B, especially if the duo there continue to be absolutely dismal offensively. Helton's not a reasonable option. He's also having a terrible year (for him), and it's likely teams with bigger pockets will go after him.
