When you associate Sexson with swinging the bat well, you're not going to say he's in a groove because he's batting .500 over 10 games. Sexson is a home run hitter, and if he's averaging a homer a little less than every other game since the ASB.....I would say he's swinging the bat well.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Aug 6, 2005 -> 12:30 AM) Are you sure about that? According to ESPN.com, Giambi has 11, and that one makes 9 for Sexson. Damn, forgot about Giambi's two from last night. The Sexson homer thing was from rotoworld a few days ago, and then Giambi hit those two last night. Good catch.

QUOTE(jphat007 @ Aug 6, 2005 -> 12:28 AM) I'm not starting anything. Just correcting your statement so people don't get the wrong ideas. 0 for his last 10 is not hot. When you say hot, people think getting a lot of productive hits, not hitting .158 in last 7 games. He has the most homers in the AL since the ASB.
-
QUOTE(jphat007 @ Aug 6, 2005 -> 12:23 AM) He was 0 for his last 10 coming into that AB. Don't start s*** tonight. Just lay off, I didn't say anything you should take personally.
-
QUOTE(jphat007 @ Aug 6, 2005 -> 12:23 AM) He was 0 for his last 10 coming into that AB. He also now has 10 homers since the ASB in 21 games. I'd consider that to be in a pretty good rhythm at the plate.

Let's hope that's the last fastball we throw to Sexson this series. He's been absolutely on fire lately.
-
Rowand showing that he likes batting 3rd! I remember when Joel used to kick the s*** out of righties batters.

QUOTE(Brian @ Aug 6, 2005 -> 12:16 AM) Traffic must have been a b****. Yes it was, but it gave me the distinct pleasure of listening to the Cubs debacle in the 2nd inning. Santo was acting like a total jackass....not like that's anything new.
-
QUOTE(Brian @ Aug 6, 2005 -> 12:12 AM) Half an inning and fathom isn't here to complain about anything, yet. BTW...I think it's funny that everyone went apes*** about Ozzie's use of the bullpen yesterday, as if it was something new.

QUOTE(Brian @ Aug 6, 2005 -> 12:12 AM) Half an inning and fathom isn't here to complain about anything, yet. Just got home from work. And I'm going to refrain from starting a personal attack...so just back off.

QUOTE(Greg The Bull Luzinski @ Aug 4, 2005 -> 09:01 PM) I am sooooo pissed about the way we are playing at home right now. If these keeps up, we better hope that another team takes home field away from the sox come playoff time. If we keep this up, we better hope we're in the playoffs.

Good job Viz. BTW, we need offensive help. With Pods struggling, and Dye coming back to earth.....I'm worried about our offense against the stellar offensive teams we face in the next few weeks. We're going to have to outslug the other team sometimes to win. Our pitchers can't avoid that big inning right now.

Just able to get online now, but why in the f*** did Ozzie use Cotts and Cliff so soon? On what planet are Cotts and Cliff the middle relievers to get to Marte and Viz, the set-up men?

QUOTE(Rex Hudler @ Aug 4, 2005 -> 05:12 AM) Phillips didn't pitch badly at all. He started a little shaky, allowing three runs in the first two innings. He then settled down nicely until tiring in the 7th. He went into the 7th down just 4-3. He was obviously tiring in the 7th. After a bunt hit and two singles to CF it was 5-3 and he was laboring. Razor left him in and he issued his only walk of the game to the next hitter to load the bases. LaMura comes in and a triple, double and a single and next thing you know the bases are cleared and two more runs are home, making it 10-3. Sometimes boxscores can be deceiving........ Looks like Razor is trying to manage like Ozzie

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Aug 4, 2005 -> 04:24 AM) I understand wanting to be with your family but he's 35 and still hasn't won anything, he's never even played in a WS so instead of wanting to go to a team that has a good chance at giving him that experience of playing in the WS he'd rather stay on a last place team and spend Spring Training in Orlando. You'd think a player of his caliber would want to add to his legacy that he was able to win something but instead he'd rather spend the rest of his career in last place. He had plenty of chances to go to the Yankees if he wanted.
-
QUOTE(Soxfest @ Aug 4, 2005 -> 04:23 AM) Got to win at least 1 Yep! This isn't a good time to be slumping with the Yankees and Red Sox coming up next week. As of right now, we'll be facing Johnson in the last game of the Yankees series.

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Aug 4, 2005 -> 04:21 AM) I think all parties almost have to deny that a deal took place. It would just look bad, imo. Agreed, but I'm beginning to think it wasn't as close to being a done deal as many feel on here. I honestly don't think KGJr. would have accepted the trade.
-
QUOTE(Kalapse @ Aug 4, 2005 -> 04:20 AM) I heard that earlier today. That's probably one of the lamest things I've ever heard from an athlete. He wants to be in Orlando during Spring Training so he can be at home, so he'd like to stay with the Reds instead of going to a contender so he doesn't have to spend 8 months in Arizona away from his family. Maybe I'm missing something, but it makes sense to me. KGJr. has never made winning a priority. However, you can't fault him for wanting to spend time with his family.

Any chance Borchard didn't play cause he's about to get dealt for Burroughs?

QUOTE(jamslam @ Aug 4, 2005 -> 03:34 AM) I would like to see some experimenting in the 3 and 4 slot though Our 3-4 contributed for all of our runs tonight. He's not making any moves.
-
QUOTE(Soxnbears01 @ Aug 4, 2005 -> 03:30 AM) it's cool man. like you said, we're all sox fans, at least you contribute some stuff to this board. Here's the thing that pisses me off a little about tonight on this board: By no means was I the only one second guessing Ozzie, especially in the 8th. Yet, people like jphat jump all over me, as if I just made jokes about a family member, etc.
-
QUOTE(jamslam @ Aug 4, 2005 -> 03:27 AM) double digit lead, relax and enjoy . No team is on 162games! 3 and 12 in our last 15 home games. This isn't like struggling at Oakland. We have to play half of our games at this place, and we're in a massive funk there. If this team can't deal with playing in front of large home crowds, it's not going to get any easier the rest of the season.
-
QUOTE(Soxnbears01 @ Aug 4, 2005 -> 03:24 AM) no thanks. how is that any fun? Just so you know, that's not how I feel. You can't live life worried about what can go wrong. I'm not scared about the Sox missing out on the playoffs. It's not like I play on the team or own the team, etc.
-
QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Aug 4, 2005 -> 03:23 AM) Don't get me wrong. I am enjoying this just as much as the next big Sox fan but IMO, he is right, brace yourself for the worst but hope for the best. I'm not bracing for the worst. If this team doesn't make the playoffs, I would be stunned, pissed, and confused. I stated above, and I'll state it again: If the Sox don't make the playoffs, we don't deserve to make it. We'd have no one to blame but ourselves (even though I'm sure Hawk would blame it on the umps).

QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Aug 4, 2005 -> 03:20 AM) Btw Fathom, the hate comment was just joking around. Don't worry about it. Even if you do, it doesn't make either of us right or wrong. We have difference of opinions about most things.....s*** happens.
