  1. Come on Dye, you have to be able to throw him out there. Byrnes wasn't even at 2nd base by the time Dye got it. Dye didn't get himself set behind the throw.
  2. QUOTE(Punch and Judy Garland @ Apr 27, 2005 -> 09:43 PM) I actually disagree ftahom but either way it wasn't a bad move by Oz this time anyways. You think it was the proper move to bring in Marte to face Thomas/Byrnes? Of course, maybe Garcia told Ozzie he was finished, which makes my argument void.
  3. QUOTE(quickman @ Apr 27, 2005 -> 09:41 PM) You mean like all those ESPN guys were saying? And they were correct with what they said. We're designed to play smallball, yet we don't do anything to back it up besides the occasional bunt. Instead, it seems like we're just playing for the 3 run homer every game, but our power personnel is not close to the level that it was in year's past. Like I said, thankfully we have those 16 wins as a great foundation.
  4. I actually would have left Garcia in to face the leadoff batter Thomas here. He's one for f***ing 25 on the season. However, bringing in Marte allowed them to hit the much better Byrnes instead. Marte should have been brought in for Kotsay.
  5. QUOTE(Y2HH @ Apr 27, 2005 -> 09:38 PM) Man WTF with this offense. It's like they are trying to suck. The sky is falling. I wish I could feel otherwise, sitting pretty at 16-5 but what the hell...how do you hit a guy with a 0.33 era and not hit a guy with a 7+ era. I wouldn't say the sky is falling, but I really hope that our hot start wasn't a smoke screen for what this team really is, and what it needs to improve on. I'm just happy we had the 16 wins in our first 20 games though, as easily half of those could have been won by the opposition without any flukes.
  6. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Apr 27, 2005 -> 09:37 PM) Great work Paulie. You f***ed up a 2-0 count and failed to use a huge error. That's what happens when you're trying to hit a homer nearly every AB.
  7. QUOTE(quickman @ Apr 27, 2005 -> 09:36 PM) Nice call and I agree Go back to around the 3rd inning of this thread, and you'll see I was saying the same stuff back then. Ozzie's a terrible manager, he never seems to make adjustments from game to game.
  8. Very nice Carl. The thing is, Kendall can't throw for s*** now. I have no clue why we haven't made him prove he can throw us out today.
  9. QUOTE(DonkeyKongerko @ Apr 27, 2005 -> 09:34 PM) Paulie better hit it far cuz Dye ain't gonna do anything. I have a feeling that Timo would PH for Dye if there are guys on base.
  10. Time for a 2 run homer for PK. Ozzie's managing like we're playing for a big homer, so might as well make him look intelligent.
  11. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Apr 27, 2005 -> 09:22 PM) Crede, Pods, Everett, and Willie are the only guys I have faith in offensively in this current lineup. Guchi is another guy, aside from that the rest are playing like total s*** offensively. . Pods needs to get it going again though. I'd like to see him start swinging a little harder than he has been, and try to pull it down the line. He's done a great job at drawing walks though.
  12. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Apr 27, 2005 -> 09:17 PM) God this lineup is futile. Walker needs to f***ing hit these guys with breaks. I've never seen a team chase so many breaking pitches. Not gonna knock Crede cause that was a really tough situation after being out of the box for a while and he's actually been playing good. I've seen the Sox chase more 2-0 pitches than I need to and they chase everything with 2 strikes, often times during full counts too. Main point is, when they find themselves in the catbird seat, they aren't waiting for their pitch, they are just trying to force the issue and its hurting them big time. I know this is negative, but I'm not going to hide how I feel. The Sox have way too many easy outs. With Konerko basically being an all or nothing hitter now, only Everett is a true line drive hitter. I'm still waiting to see guys like Rowand and Dye hit the ball with authority to the opposite field.
  13. QUOTE(3E8 @ Apr 27, 2005 -> 09:17 PM) Yeah. At least we were hitting yesterday. I just don't like how we're playing so station-to-station. We had plenty of chances to put a runner in motion, and Ozzie didn't put on anything special.
  14. QUOTE(SuperSteve @ Apr 27, 2005 -> 09:16 PM) CBS Sportsline had it just inside the strike zone. Easily a foot outside and almost in the dirt.
  15. Shockingly, this game has pissed me off more than last night's game.
  16. Crede chases ball 4. If I was a manager, I would never let my pitchers throw a 3-2 fastball to Sox hitters.
  17. Base hit, ball four. At least Widger is moving on this pitch, so a double should score him.
  18. Rowand's looking better at the plate, but he's still not driving the ball to the opposite field like he did last season. Rather, he's rolling over on a lot of pitches on the outside corner right to SS.
  19. What's really frustrating was that Saarloos was terrible today. He had no control the entire game. A patient team who utilized smallball (now isn't that ironic) could have scored against him every inning.
  20. QUOTE(Tannerfan @ Apr 27, 2005 -> 09:00 PM) Sit him down now. Let Carl play right, and Gload can DH. Switch that around to Gload in RF, and Everett at DH, and I agree with you.
  21. Don't worry, Dye would have to go 0 for his next 50 before KW made a move. You do remember how long Clayton was allowed to prove he was an awful signing? The dumbest thing about signing Dye to a 3 year deal was that we have Anderson in the minors.
  22. QUOTE(3E8 @ Apr 27, 2005 -> 08:58 PM) I would've much rather had Timo up there. No s***. Especially with Street's slider, a lefty is a much better bet against him.
  23. f*** you Dye! Great job by Ozzie having Dye bat 5th.
