We're taking strikes, and swinging at balls. Seems like everyone but Willie is back to being way too easy of an out. It seems like all you have to do against Sox hitters is get two strikes on them, and if you throw an offspeed pitch, they'll strike out.

QUOTE(whitesoxin' @ May 21, 2005 -> 06:33 PM) Suddenly the outside corner has gotten a lot bigger since they gave the warnings.. Zambrano is definitely taking advantage of a very large zone today. The AB by Konerko last inning was controlled by the large zone of the ump.
-
I would have rather had Pods leading off the next inning. It's sad though when Contreras works the count better than everyone but our 1-2 hitters.

QUOTE(DonkeyKongerko @ May 21, 2005 -> 06:31 PM) There is no reason to ever come in on Crede. He can't hit anything outside. Exactly. Most of his solid hits this year came on inside fastballs that he kept his hands in. A pitch on the outside corner usually results in a weak pop up for Crede.

QUOTE(WHarris1 @ May 21, 2005 -> 06:29 PM) Wow Uribe that was god awful. As much as I like Uribe, it's safe to say he's in one of his bad streaks right now.

QUOTE(whitesoxin' @ May 21, 2005 -> 06:26 PM) Did you see how Carl charged the ball? He looked like a little leaguer. Keep in mind Nefi had gotten a little shaken up on the last play. For the life of me, I'll never understand why people think Everett should play in the outfield. He's without a doubt the worst outfielder in the majors. Congrats to Everett though for catching his first ball of the season.
-
I'd just like to give a big "f*** you" to Ozzie for playing Everett today. Dye likely would not have thrown out Perez at home, but at least he would have had a shot. Everett is so awful at the plate right now. I don't understand the logic of benching a player who is swinging well for the first time all season for someone who is swinging worse than anyone else in the majors right now.
-
QUOTE(Jabroni @ May 21, 2005 -> 04:48 PM) I think Ozzie geared the lineup more toward speed to mess with Zambrano's head. Willie is faster than Iguchi and Everett is a bit faster than Dye. True, but that's a stupid decision then by Ozzie. The combination of Zambrano and Blanco will be almost impossible to steal on. Zambrano has a very quick delivery, and Blanco has a cannon behind the plate. If we lose today....fine. But I really hope it's not cause Everett botches some plays in the outfield. I'll be pissed then.

QUOTE(SoxFan562004 @ May 21, 2005 -> 03:36 PM) I'm having waves of panic thinking about Crazy in the OF, he will either; 1. Botch a crucial fly ball 2. injure himself 3. Injure someone else also, Willie is at 2nd batting in the 2 spot today There's not a reason in the world that Everett should be playing today. Dye has been much better recently, and everyone in baseball knows he's someone that is always very streaky. Meanwhile, Everett has been simply awful at the plate for the better part of a month now. Also, this isn't taking into account that Everett is the worst outfielder in the majors. We better hope Contreras strikes out about 12 guys today.

Tribune is saying the wind will be blowing out to right field. I really hope Everett isn't playing tomorrow. Dye is swinging the bat much better than Everett is right now, and there's no reason to put our defense at such a disadvantage.

QUOTE(Jabroni @ May 20, 2005 -> 05:36 PM) Agreed, and he's not pitching at the Cell. Freddy should have a good game. If he doesn't, he has no excuses because the conditions are all in his favor. This game will show us what type of stuff Garcia has left. There's no excuses for him not to have a successful outing. Also, we can steal against Maddux easily, but Blanco behind the plate will make it a little more difficult than if Barrett was starting. -

Anyone think it's weird that we have a lefty pitcher for batting practice? Maybe it's to get the players used to the movement on Maddux's pitches. -

QUOTE(GreatScott82 @ May 20, 2005 -> 04:48 PM) They just said on the score Carl Everett will be out in RF for tommorows game. Ozzie doens't want him getting stale on the bench. Todays game it appears to be Dye out in RF. Anybody got the starting lineups yet? My first reaction to reading this... "ah f***". -
Everett should not play a single second in the outfield at Wrigley this wknd. Dye is swinging the bat much better now, and Everett has been simply awful at the plate. Even though Dye's had some mishaps in the outfield this year, Everett is easily one of the worst outfielders in the majors. If we're going to lose to the Cubs, I'd much rather it happens because of what they do, and not Everett misplaying balls in RF (anyone remember Gload in RF vs the Cubs last year?).

QUOTE(Jabroni @ May 18, 2005 -> 09:49 PM) So how was Ozuna's defense at 3rd base in place of Crede? It would be nice to have a solid defensive backup with a decent bat in case Crede keeps up his horrible slump. He had one ball hit to him, and it was a routine play. I couldn't tell anything about his 3b ability today, but if something happens long-term to Crede, Ozuna isn't the answer.

Great job by Cliff against Mench, who looks just amazing at the plate right now. -

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ May 18, 2005 -> 08:06 PM) Cliff Politte comes in? I don't get this move at all. Why not use your guys who actually need some work so they don't suck when you actually need them in an important situation. This is a pretty important situation. It's only a 5 run lead, and with 2 on and some very dangerous hitters coming up, you don't want to let the Rangers back into the game. Cliff was definitely the right call in this situation. -

PK seems to be hitting the ball on the line again. He's still opening up a tad early, but he's getting closer. -

QUOTE(chi-guy2 @ May 18, 2005 -> 07:15 PM) im surprised were starting to hit drese pretty good, usually hes pretty tough, hes a good warmup for the cubs staff Drese has been awful this season. I'm beginning to think last year was a fluke for him. -

For some reason, I have more confidence with Uribe up with RISP than anyone else. Even though he's the king of the pop up to 2nd base, I still think he's dangerous in those situations. -

I'm happy they walked Everett there. Everyone knows how much he's struggled in that particular situation lately. -

Please no DP here AJP! This is a situation in which he was real bad last season with the Giants.
