  1. Contreras is overthrowing all of his pitches. Lecroy had two great pitches to hit, but took both.
  2. QUOTE(jackie hayes @ Apr 18, 2005 -> 07:04 PM) Stuff happens. I'm not saying he'll be a good defensive lf, but it's the least demanding position, he'll be adequate. If Dye continues to struggle, then that's Kenny Williams fault, and he's going to have to find another option. Carl Everett is not an option to play RF. Dye made one mistake in the outfield in 11 games this season. Everett looked terrible in one inning in the outfield. There's absolutely no comparison between their defensive ability, and I'll bet by the time Thomas comes back, there won't be a difference between Everett and Dye's offensive production. We've faced very few lefties so far this season, which really helps Everett since he's terrible facing lhp. One thing I'm sure of is that we need another right handed hitting outfielder off the bench who can drive the ball. I've been saying this for a week now. Ozuna is a nice story, but I don't think he's a major league hitter.
  3. QUOTE(ISF @ Apr 18, 2005 -> 06:09 PM) If running into the wall making a play makes you a bad outfielder, I must wonder why an outfielder as crappy as Rowand is playing CF for us. Dye is no longer the fleet of foot guy he used to be. Everett covers as much ground. He's fearless out there, like Rowand. Probably doesn't have as good an instinct as Dye on getting jumps, but this is a guy who was playing CF for Texas a few years ago. He can hold his own out there just fine. When Everett played centerfield, I remember hearing about how experts had never seen a player turn more routine singles into triples due to terrible range and instincts. Everett has absolutely no range in the outfield...he even helped us win a game in Montreal last year when he was in the outfield for the Expos. I like Everett as a hitter, but he should never play the outfield again. He makes Timo look like a gold-glover out there.
  4. I can't believe anyone would suggest putting Everett in the outfielder. He might be the worst defensive outfielder in the last 10 years. We knew when Everett picked up his option that it was likely we were going to be stuck with a 4 million dollar bench player. The difference between Dye and Everett's offensive ability is nowhere near the difference between their defensive ability. It took Everett less than one inning to not only hurt himself in the field, but to play a huge factor in blowing the game for the Sox.
  5. I'm pretty sure the Sox hold an option on Ozzie's contract after this season, and if the Sox don't make the playoffs, I really hope that they don't bring his ass back. He' shown me nothing in terms of in-game managing, and he still hasn't learned to shut his f***ing mouth. He's one of the worst managers I've ever seen at having a feel for when he should take pitchers out. He consistently waits one batter too long to take the starter out.
  6. No matter what, Everett is not an outfielder. He played one inning out there this year, and not only did he hurt himself, he played a huge part in causing the Sox to lose a very winnable game.
  7. f*** that....terrible managing by Ozzie....yet again. You can't make the last out trying to steal a f***ing base. Nice to see our former players (Olivo, Valdez) beat us today.
  8. This was exactly the situation I was talking about earlier about having another righty bat off the bench with some power. There's no reason to have both Gload and Timo on the team right now
  9. If Juan can look to right centerfield against Eddie G., he can end this game with a homer.
  10. Well, A.J. and Dye have sure sucked lately. A.J.'s inability to block an easy pitch in the dirt was a big catalyst in Seattle's 3 run inning.
  11. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Apr 17, 2005 -> 09:45 PM) That 3-1 to Aaron was some serious bulls*** No kidding, I had a post already to go up, but figured to delete it once Rowand got the hit.
  12. Eddie Guardado has no chance getting Rowand out. He's the perfect pitcher for Rowand's swing.
  13. Dye is f***ing terrible right now. Just looks like he has no chance to be dangerous at the plate.
  14. Putz has given the Sox hitters some great pitches to hit. Sadly, I have no confidence in Dye right now though.
  15. Everett's swinging all or nothing. A hit would be just fine.
  16. Huge break for Sox there as Putz should have easily fielded that ball.
  17. Politte looks to actually have better stuff this year than he did last year. However, his fastball today also exemplifies how bad Garcia's fastball was. I'd say Cliff is throwing 5 mph faster than Garcia was today.
  18. Interesting that Ozuna is now 2-13, with both hits being bunts. We definitely need another right handed hitting outfielder off the bench, especially for situations in which we need a player to drive the ball.
  19. I really hope Podsednik is able to play tomorrow. The Twins seem to be playing a lot better than they were the first few games we played them last week.
  20. This is exactly what I was talking about in regards to too many easy outs in the lineup. Crede weakly pops up a hanging curve on the first pitch, and then Uribe grounds out 2 pitches later. Thus, you have 2 outs on 3 pitches by the bottom of our order. Not exactly the type of at-bats you want to see by your 8/9 hitters.
  21. QUOTE(KevHead0881 @ Apr 17, 2005 -> 08:52 PM) Players seem to love Ozzie. I don't think there is much of a doubt that Ozzie backs his players. If Ozzie needs to handle that situation for Carl, then Carl needs to grow up. But, I do think Carl kept his cool there for the most part. I just don't like Ozzie risking Everett getting tossed out of the game by just sitting there in the dugout. We're not exactly loaded with offensive talent in our lineup right now. Everett's one of our few dangerous hitters right now.
