  1. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jul 24, 2005 -> 01:57 AM) With the way I feel after games like this, I don't even know what I'll do if the Sox somehow don't make the playoffs or get humiliated in the postseason. That just scares the living hell out of me. My feeling about the Sox if they don't make the playoffs is real easy: If they don't make the playoffs after having a 13 game lead in mid July, then they didn't deserve to make the playoffs. You couldn't ask to be in a better situation. If they can't make it, then f*** them.
  2. QUOTE(Ozzie Montana @ Jul 24, 2005 -> 01:55 AM) Id feel a whole lot better if you bashed them just a bit. They diserve it right now with the way they are performing in front of sold out games. I might be the only one that feels this way, but I don't give a flying f*** if the Sox disappoint the big crowds. They deserve big crowds for the rest of the season with how they've played this year. If someone doesn't show up for future games cause they lost the game they went to, then they're not real fans anyways.
  3. QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Jul 24, 2005 -> 01:53 AM) I think one thing even this diverse bunch can agree on is that this team needs a shot in the arm offensively. Yes it does....but our GM is out trying to get a starting pitcher?
  4. QUOTE(JimH @ Jul 24, 2005 -> 01:53 AM) Would not have bothered me to sit him. They go against who tomorrow, Arroyo? He of the good curveball? Konerko should be out for Gload one of the two anyway. What's the concern about power, I thought the objective was to consistenly go the other way, in terms of hitting? Yes, but with the way we're playing, we're only scoring with the long ball. PK has swung the bat well lately, so he needs to be in the lineup.
  5. QUOTE(kapkomet @ Jul 24, 2005 -> 01:53 AM) And if you hadn't noticed, so is the rest of the Centrals. But, how trivial is that? Indians schedule is not. It's extremely easy.
  6. QUOTE(Frankensteiner @ Jul 24, 2005 -> 01:51 AM) I'm just thinking we're not that good. Our record against the good teams outside of the AL Central blows. I'm not ready to say that, because everytime I think that, we go on a nice stretch. However, this current offense is NOT GOOD. Do you think this offense strikes fear in the opposing team? I would love for the Sox to face teams with the Sox offense. All you have to do is throw a breaking pitch with 2 strikes, and you'll get them out.
  7. QUOTE(Big Hurtin @ Jul 24, 2005 -> 01:51 AM) Haven't you heard? A 10+ game lead in July guarantees a playoff spot. Hell, when the lead was 13 games earlier in the week, I was saying that people were nuts for saying we had it locked. Our schedule is brutal the rest of the way.
  8. QUOTE(JimH @ Jul 24, 2005 -> 01:50 AM) Agree with this as well, he should have been in there at 1B for Konerko, especially with Miller going tonite. Everett should have been in RF, and PK DH with Gload at 1b. We can't sit PK right now. He's our only consistent power threat with Dye out.
  9. QUOTE(Soxfest @ Jul 24, 2005 -> 01:49 AM) AR is way at the top of the list to me 1 yr f***ing wonder Well, there's a pattern around the majors if you've noticed. Anyways, he's been playing better lately. Our SS is a huge f***ing liability right now.
  10. QUOTE(JimH @ Jul 24, 2005 -> 01:47 AM) He drilled that pitch, get real. Yes, he hit that pitch hard. However, he didn't do anything good at the plate all game. If we weren't going to use Gload, then why the f*** did we call him up?
  11. QUOTE(Ozzie Montana @ Jul 24, 2005 -> 01:48 AM) This s*** is getting really pathetic and annoying. We need a big shakeup. W should have won all three of these games. Just wait untill someone uses the best record reasoning. We've now lost 7 of our last 9 games at home.
  12. QUOTE(Soxfest @ Jul 24, 2005 -> 01:47 AM) Manny cannot catch a ball against 99% of every other team f***ing great against Sox Manny made that play look a lot tougher than it was. He coasted back there. It wasn't as tough as it looked.
  13. QUOTE(Cerbaho-WG @ Jul 24, 2005 -> 01:47 AM) Newsflash: Aaron Rowand is overated, more at 11. I could tell you a lot more overrated players on the Sox than Rowand.
  14. QUOTE(maggsmaggs @ Jul 24, 2005 -> 01:45 AM) DP, god f***ing dammit. Why did Aaron swing at the first pitch? Wouldn't that require our hitters to have a plan at the plate?
  15. We get the first two guys on base, and proceed to make 3 outs on 2 pitches. Get Timo out of the f***ing lineup Ozzie!
  16. That was just f***ing awful right there. What type of swing was that by Rowand?
  17. QUOTE(Soxfest @ Jul 24, 2005 -> 01:43 AM) We make Manny look like a gold glover christ It was good running by PK. No reason to get thrown out trying to get to 2nd, when that run means nothing.
  18. QUOTE(JimH @ Jul 24, 2005 -> 01:42 AM) I will take it a step further, Miller gets credit for making some very good pitches. It's a given the Sox hitters did not do a good job when Miller made hittable pitches. The best pitch Miller made all game was the 1-2 pitch to Everett with the bases loaded.
  19. QUOTE(CYGarland @ Jul 24, 2005 -> 01:42 AM) The guy did hit over .320 last year w/ quite a few clutch hits. I'd at least give him a chance If Ozzie liked him, he would have been up a while ago.
  20. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jul 24, 2005 -> 01:42 AM) Pods, a dead pull hitter?? I wasn't shaking my head at that. If anything, I think Pods is better when he tries to pull the ball. Sometimes, he gets too cute at the plate, and just punches the ball right to the SS.
  21. QUOTE(CYGarland @ Jul 24, 2005 -> 01:40 AM) This is absolutely pathetic. Full House, against the Bo Sox, on Wgn.................... I think it's safe to say we play alot better with less exposure So you're saying we're going to finish the year good
  22. This game reminded me of those Indians games from last weekend where our pitchers weren't necessarily sharp, but the Indians kept getting themselves out.
  23. QUOTE(JimH @ Jul 24, 2005 -> 01:36 AM) So, your position is, Wade Miller gets no credit, the blame lays entirely on the White Sox offense? Is that what you're saying? I'm taking the exact same approach with you as I did with the Neal Cotts-Manny Ramirez discussion the other nite in case you didn't notice. I believe you understand the game a lot better, and much of what's coming out is venting ... for which I do not blame you tonite. Miller gets the credit for not beating himself. He threw the strikes when he needed, and got bailed out by the Sox hitters. I'll say this: if he was facing the Yankees offense tonight with the stuff he had, he wouldn't have made it out of the 3rd inning. We should have had 5 runs by the time the 3rd inning was over. I know the Sox like to take the approach that there's no superstars in the offense....but we need someone that we can count on in this lineup to be able to have consistent ABs in crucial spots.
  24. QUOTE(CYGarland @ Jul 24, 2005 -> 01:36 AM) Well we do have Gload, but it looks like he isn't going to get an ab this year! If we're counting on Gload to be a catalyst for our offense, we're in trouble. It should be pretty obvious he's not exactly a favorite of Ozzie's.
  25. QUOTE(JimH @ Jul 24, 2005 -> 01:34 AM) I do not disagree with you at all. I'd love to see a bat brought in, a guy who takes a ton of pitches, makes the other guy work, draws walks, goes the other way, etc. and can play multiple positions. I have been beating the Ryan Freel drum for a while but now that they've traded Randa, the chances of the Reds trading Freel are slim IMO. Freel isn't likely to get traded. I'm not sure teams fully trust him off the field. I'm not sure how getting another grinder will help this team. We need some production in this offense.
