Welcome to the Illini Richard Semrau
fathom replied to whitesoxfan99's topic in A and J's Olde Tyme Sports Pub
Two things: - There's a much better chance of Dee leaving then people think. I'd say it's 50/50. - Semrau is going to free fall in the rankings unfortunately. He had an awful tournament last wknd, with one major recruiting scout wondering what the hell happened to him. Hopefully it doesn't turn into another David Palmer episode. -
QUOTE(qwerty @ May 1, 2005 -> 09:25 PM) It was big news coming out of detroit that they were gonna cut him. They decided not to once ordonez got injured. They definitely were going to cut Higginson. Tigers have cut high-priced guys in the past, like D. Easley.

Iguchi is doing his best Lew Ford impression lately. Great to see that compared to other hitters constantly popping up.
-
Let him go for the CG Ozzie!

QUOTE(GASHWOUND @ May 1, 2005 -> 09:16 PM) The Sandlot 2? Is Benny "The Jet" Rodriguez back or is he retired cause the first one takes place in the 60's It looks like the same exact plot and catchphrases. The fat kid from Bad Santa is in it though, and he was terrific in that movie. Imdb.com had some bad things to say about Sandlot 2, so who knows. Bad News Bears looks like it has potential though.

QUOTE(JimH @ May 1, 2005 -> 09:15 PM) I may have heard it wrong, thought they said 25k, but I was cracking open a Rolling Rock at the time. I thought I heard 20k also.

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ May 1, 2005 -> 09:14 PM) Scott's done everything right. He's in a bit of a hitting slump but he's still getting on base and he just made that whole inning in the 4th by himself. Like you said he's getting guys over when he has to and he's also come up with big hits for us this year. He's an impressive player. His approach is a lot better this year than last, where he was striking out way too much and swinging for the fences. I think we'll start to see Pods drive the ball into the outfield with more authority as the season continues. He's done a great job at drawing walks.

QUOTE(YASNY @ May 1, 2005 -> 09:13 PM) At 78 pitches, I'm hoping Garland gets his second consecutive complete game shut out. No clue he was at 78 pitches. Let him go for the CGSO then if he cruises through this inning.

Cotts should get an inning today.

QUOTE(GASHWOUND @ May 1, 2005 -> 08:57 PM) weren't we 0-8??? or something like that Cy Diaz got a win against the Cubs.
-
QUOTE(GASHWOUND @ May 1, 2005 -> 08:55 PM) and it's safe to say our 5th starter spot in the rotation may be a bit better then it was last year... Just thinking about our 5th starter last year makes me mad. What a terrible feeling that was thinking we had no shot to win whenever Wright or Diaz or ..... was on the mound.
-
Congrats Pedro! I'm also officially on the Chris Widger bandwagon.
-
Good news, I think we're missing out on having to face Halladay when we go to Toronto. He's scheduled to pitch on Wednesday vs the Orioles.
-
Like someone mentioned earlier, Garland is making the other team beat him. In the 5th inning, the Tigers got the first two guys on, and Higgy was up, someone who has crushed Jon in the past. Previous years, it would have seemed like Garland would walk Higginson, and put the Tigers in a position to have a huge inning. Rather, Garland just let Higgy hit the ball today, and ended up getting out of the inning without allowing a run.

QUOTE(shagar69 @ May 1, 2005 -> 08:40 PM) and speakin of the Scrubs, H-town has come back to take 9-3 lead. Stro's put up a 7 spot in the 6th against the Messiah I've never seen a manager leave a pitcher in to allow a 3 run homer only 3 batters after a pitcher had allowed a grand slam.
-
Doesn't it seem like Garland's slider to lefties is a lot tighter than it was in previous years? I remember Garland mostly throwing his loopy curveball that seemed to hang too often. Now, he's throwing a pitch that almost resembles Loaiza's nasty cutter. BTW, TWINS LOSE!

Stewart homers off of K-Rod. 2-1, bottom of 9th, no outs.

QUOTE(sox-r-us @ May 1, 2005 -> 08:25 PM) Who cares if he did anything when we were out of it. Prove it when it matters. When we were out of it? It's not like we were 25 games out last season, and Rowand just beat up on AAA pitchers. He hit .319 after the ASB last season, and .298 before the ASB.
-
QUOTE(sox-r-us @ May 1, 2005 -> 08:23 PM) Rowand's ass should be on the bench if he does not pick it up soon Every year same story....no consistency at all Rowand proved last year he could have a monster season, and he started off awful last year also. Rowand's been driving the ball better lately, so I'm not really concerned about him. Also, we don't have a CF if Rowand is on the bench. Pods is better suited in LF with his inability to read balls of the bat.
-
QUOTE(fathom @ May 1, 2005 -> 08:21 PM) I know it's early, and he's been struggling, but I really would like to see Rowand batting 3rd against lefties. I'm saying this before Everett bats so I don't sound like I'm whining if he makes an out here. Rowand is great vs lhp, and I think would help generate some more offense. LIKE I WAS SAYING! Good job Carl!

DP hit into by Lecroy! End of inning, still 2-0.

K-Rod is coming in for the Angels now. I had missed the Lopez AB, yahoo says it was a deep fly to center. How close to the track was it? Thanks.

QUOTE(longshot7 @ May 1, 2005 -> 08:12 PM) Colon dealing. Minus 1 outing in NY, he has been awesome so far this year. Twins have bases loaded, one out for Rivas.
-
Colon has to leave the game with a leg injury. Angels have a good bullpen, but Colon was pinpoint today with his stuff.
