  1. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jul 24, 2005 -> 12:27 AM) He's not having a very good game. This is the complete opposite of what Carl has done all season, he usually comes through when we need him. Hopefully others can pick him up this game. Here's my worry with Everett. I have a feeling he's pressing a little with Frank out. Before Frank came back, Everett was struggling big time also, as he couldn't even make contact with the ball it seemed. Everett's swing is so much longer tonight than it was for the last month.
  2. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jul 24, 2005 -> 12:26 AM) Hey, I didn't know Wade Miller was up for a Cy Young this year. Gee, here I thought he sucked. He has the worst stuff of any pitcher we've struggled against all season. That's saying something.
  3. This is vintage Everett from a few months ago. His swing is entirely too long right now.
  4. BTW, I'm enjoying this Dunn debate. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, so I like the stats being produced.
  5. QUOTE(qwerty @ Jul 24, 2005 -> 12:24 AM) They both drive runs in at a very bad rate. Dunn also gets walked a ton in big spots.
  6. QUOTE(Soxpranos @ Jul 24, 2005 -> 12:21 AM) hes like 0-9 with bases loaded clutch my ass! he's 4-38 with bases loaded in his career some pathetic stat like that.. clutch guess again! 3 run homer off of Hoffman 2 rbi single vs Dodgers in the 8th game tying single vs Dodgers in the 9th That's good enough for me.
  7. QUOTE(JimH @ Jul 24, 2005 -> 12:18 AM) This board would be all over Adam Dunn's ass. First of all he won't be coming here so forget it IMO. Second, he strikes out about 1 time in every three at bats and has the tendancy to swing for HR's, hence the low rbi total despite the high HR total. The grass is always greener is guess, especially in the game threads. Look at the comparison I made with Pods approach when he was on the Brewers. Getting away from the Reds would be great for Dunn's approach. Also, the NL Central has prolific strikeout pitchers, especially the Cubs. The AL Central doesn't have as many strikeout pitchers in the division.
  8. Am I allowed to voice my frustration that the Twins call up a minor league player, and he instantly produces again. S. Baker is having a very good start for them in the 2nd game of the DH.
  9. QUOTE(Soxpranos @ Jul 24, 2005 -> 12:18 AM) Give me Manny stats batting vs lefties , 50' something rbi and no where .326 its when u hit them, Mostly Rowands hit come in useless situations.. dont know why every one loves this cat . he aint that good! Rowand has as many clutch hits as anyone on the Sox this season.
  10. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jul 24, 2005 -> 12:18 AM) It would be hard to give up cold turkey. I'm a big boy. I can follow directions.
  11. QUOTE(JimH @ Jul 24, 2005 -> 12:16 AM) Fathom ... go ahead and vent. It's a message board. But then don't get bent out of shape when someone says you constantly vent, ok? It goes both ways, not just your way. Fair enough. I don't recall ever telling anyone I don't vent. If anyone ever told me that no venting is allowed on soxtalk, then I wouldn't do it.
  12. QUOTE(Soxpranos @ Jul 24, 2005 -> 12:13 AM) Rowand has done s*** all year! Uribe has gotten way more clutch hits and i believe has more rbi than Rowand batting 8th and 9th! Rowand is batting .326 this season vs LHP.
  13. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jul 24, 2005 -> 12:13 AM) Oye ve. You're the one who hates it when any player pulls the ball and this team tries hitting to many homers and you want Adam Dunn?? That's SSI with the pull hard-on. The difference with Dunn trying to hit homers compared to a lot of the Sox guys is that if he gets a hold of it, the ball is gone. It's different than when AJP or Uribe are trying to hit homers all the time. I can't believe there are some that don't think Dunn is a great offensive player.
  14. QUOTE(JimH @ Jul 24, 2005 -> 12:12 AM) Well, this is a good question, and there's no answer is there? I presume you're just venting yet again? Say what? Yes, that's me venting. Is that allowed? I'm not trying to be a smartass. I really want to know if venting should not be made in this gt.
  15. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jul 24, 2005 -> 12:10 AM) I'm with Jason on this one. It's a good topic though, Dunn overrated or underrated? Compared to our offensive players, it's not even close. Dunn is significantly better than any offensive producer on the Sox.
  16. How many cookies are we going to get this game, and just foul them off or pop up weakly?
  17. Get Timo out of this f***ing line-up. Nothing like seeing your RF trying to bunt a 2-1 pitch with a runner on base.
  18. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jul 24, 2005 -> 12:06 AM) Here's what I don't get, if Clement the ace of the Red Sox staff has an off night we should rock him but if a mediocre pitcher has a great night we should still rock him. Baseball doesn't work like that. If I see any pitcher on the mound who looks to be sharp, I won't have a problem if the Sox aren't scoring. However, when I see a guy with nothing on the mound (like Miller tonight), I'll get pissed if the offense can't put some runs on the board.
  19. QUOTE(CYGarland @ Jul 24, 2005 -> 12:05 AM) Sorry but we do not have a legitimate #3 hitter on this team. Frank is more of a #4 and PK, Everett, Rowand and Dye are 5 or 6's, IMO. A couple of days ago, I made the recommendation that KW should screw going after a starting pitcher or reliever, and try to make a deal for a number 3 hitter.
  20. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jul 24, 2005 -> 12:04 AM) I must say El Duque has been great since the gopher ball. Even though I dislike Duque, I agree with you on this.
  21. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jul 24, 2005 -> 12:03 AM) You're right, just use clement as an example. Oh.....nevermind. We sure rocked Clement. On a night where he had nothing, we torched him for 4 runs in 6 innings.
  22. QUOTE(Soxpranos @ Jul 24, 2005 -> 12:02 AM) They cant hit lefties either, Zito ! bad hitters man, thats what were gonna get! We hit lefties good. Rowand and Uribe are especially strong against LHP.
  23. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jul 24, 2005 -> 12:02 AM) Ya, he got it earlier this year. He's ridiculously over-rated in my book. I couldn't disagree more. Even in a so-called down year, his OPS is still one of the best in the NL. I truly believe that on the proper team, his K numbers would diminish. The entire Reds team just swings out of their ass. It's like how Pods had high K numbers with the Brewers last year, when everyone else was swinging out of their ass. I'd take Dunn over any Sox offensive player this season in a second.
  24. QUOTE(Soxpranos @ Jul 24, 2005 -> 12:01 AM) Everett or Konerko, face it guys our run producers are pretty bad.. Konerko , Everett and Rowand. manny and Ortiz alone have more Rbi than them 3! Sigh... never been a Konerko or Rowand fan and Everett just to damn old and we gave away 5 minor leaguers in 2 diff. trades to get him ? Everett's been amazing compared to PK in clutch situations this season.
  25. I don't care what we did against the junk pitcher in Wakefield yesterday. This offense can't hit righty breaking stuff consistently.
