  1. QUOTE(danman31 @ Apr 17, 2005 -> 08:27 PM) Freddy is awful to watch when he doesn't have it. You should change that to read Freddy is awful to watch at U.S. Cellular. Especially if he's becoming less of a strikeout pitcher, he's really going to have problems pitching at home.
  2. Anyone else wondering how Garcia has got any batters out this game? I find it amusing that Hawk is saying it was good to pitch around Reed in order to face someone who hit 48 homers last year, and just missed a homer in his last AB
  3. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Apr 17, 2005 -> 08:19 PM) Dye looks lethargic everywhere, he might need to have a seat for a day or two. Lethargic is a much kinder word than I would have said. Dye's been brutal so far. Easy out when he's hitting, and his defense has been worse than advertised so far.
  4. Does anyone know what Garcia's fastball has been clocked at today? I haven't seen him throw a single heater past someone today. Nice play by Dye in the outfield, especially w/Ichiro coming up.
  5. Garcia's throwing junk up to the plate this inning. Going to be hard to keep Mariners from scoring this inning. Getting Dobbs out would be huge with Olivo and Valdez up after him.
  6. Garcia just seems to be rolling pitches up to the plate. Maybe it's just that Meche has great stuff today, but Meche seems more much electric with his stuff than Freddy does. Oh well, as long as he keeps getting batters out, he can do whatever he wants.
  7. Nice to see a 3 run inning. Garcia needs to get the Sox back into the dugout.
  8. There ya go Tad! Thankfully it wasn't hit hard so Ichiro didn't have a play at the plate.
  9. Free Willie! Timo wasn't trying to pull that ball, he took an inside out swing. There was no chance that was going to the right side.
  10. With Iguchi's struggles, Timo should not be bunting here. Let him try and pull the ball and get a hit.
  11. We really struggle with a good fastball pitcher. Only Konerko and Uribe are what I'd consider good fastball hitters.
  12. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Apr 17, 2005 -> 07:22 PM) dye looks like s*** His swing is awful right now. He's swinging all arms, and looks like he can't touch a decent fastball. Meche was really getting screwed by the ump that inning, but his fastball looked 5 times sharper than Garcia's did.
  13. I just hated the idea of giving up the first out of a game with a sacrifice bunter, especially when the pitcher walked the leadoff hitter. Just like with Pineiro on Friday night, you're letting the pitcher off the hook. There's no chance that this game will end up with the final score of 2-0.
  14. Anyone else have an opinion on Iguchi bunting in the first inning down 2-0 after the leadoff hitter was walked? I think it's too early in the game to start playing for one run, especially with the ball seemingly jumping out of the park.
  15. What has happened to Garcia's stuff? Even last start, his fastball seemed a lot slower than in seasons past, and he's not throwing his splitter/changeup like he did last season. Just compare the stuff he has now to the first start he made for the Sox vs the Twins last year. There's no comparison.
  16. Two things: - I hope Garcia realizes he's not pitching in Yellowstone today, like he was last start at Cleveland in which the wind saved him about 4 homers. - Willie not playing today is an absolute joke. I'm not a Harris fan at all, but after the miserable performances by Timo and Iguchi the last two days, Willie should get a start. If we want to try and play smallball, you need some speed in the lineup. Smallball won't work if you have a well below average speed leadoff hitter.
  17. It's the Buehrle-Konerko show today. Everyone else, besides Widger calling the pitches, were pathetic.
  18. Wow, not sure if that was a great play by Konerko, or just some slow reaction time by him. Anyways, I'll take it!
  19. QUOTE(gettysburg32 @ Apr 16, 2005 -> 07:41 PM) It's really easy to say now, but why wasn't Paulie on the line? I thought the same thing. With Buehrle's slow stuff, there was a decent chance that Ichiro would pull it right down the line.
  20. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Apr 16, 2005 -> 07:39 PM) Ozzie...I promise not to rip you for the rest of the day if you just stick with Buehrle in the 9th. Yep, let Buehrle win or lose this game. Only way he should come out is if it's obvious he has nothing left in the tank.
  21. So, what's the chances Buehrle can get out Ichiro here? It was funny to see Buehrle keep the ball in the 3rd inning when he got Ichiro out, as if it was a souvenir.
  22. Shingo's warming up. No way I could imagine Ozzie putting him in during the 9th. no matter what the situation is.
