  1. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jul 17, 2005 -> 07:34 PM) That pitch was a strike earlier this inning, let alone this game. 102 pitches for Jon...probably his last inning here...Neal's standing it up. No, that pitch has been a strike all game, unless there's been 2 strikes. This ump is a f***ing coward, he's scared of calling the 3rd strike.
  2. The suspension won't impact their status for this week's games, unfortunately.
  3. A healthy Crede makes that play, I really think.
  4. QUOTE(upnorthsox @ Jul 17, 2005 -> 07:25 PM) Ok, I'm going by radio today instead of TV so I'll defer to better judgement but 3 of 5 leadoff hitters reaching is playing with fire and I wasn't infering that he'd lose only that he's making it hard to keep the shutout in tack. That's exactly the point I was trying to make, but everyone takes most things I say as being the epitome of negative. If Garland wants to allow the first 3 runners to reach base every inning, and then get out of it scoreless, then more power to him.
  5. QUOTE(WilliamTell @ Jul 17, 2005 -> 07:24 PM) Yeah he is today. I hope he can be a 15 game winner sometime, but it's not gonna happen if he's with the Pirates. I'm not a fan of Wells at all. Like I said earlier in the week, Kip has issues on and off the field, and that's why Sox were so eager to get rid of him.
  6. Kip Wells is absolutely brutal, FWIW. 9 hits, 6 runs in 2.2 innings against Cubs so far.
  7. Lets do a hit-and-run with AJP here, just to keep the Indians on their toes.
  8. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Jul 17, 2005 -> 07:17 PM) Very, very nice Jon. Its a shame the you just aren't sharp today and are playing with fire so much. I'd rather have 5 straight 1-2-3 innings rather than just 5 scoreless. PICK IT UP Anytime you allow the first two runners to reach base, you're playing with fire. I don't care if you're Pedro Martinez or Felix Diaz.
  9. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Jul 17, 2005 -> 07:16 PM) Agree. wholeheartily, though I might say 5 or 6 times. I think it's been 5 times by my count. The worst was by far to Perralta, in a big spot, but Garland K'd him on the next pitch.
  10. QUOTE(WSoxMatt @ Jul 17, 2005 -> 07:15 PM) Jon is throwing fine he has 2 strikes on every hitter and 3-4 occassions got screwed out of a backward K What's happening is he's not getting the fastball called by the umpire, so he's going more with the change-up.
  11. QUOTE(WSoxMatt @ Jul 17, 2005 -> 07:13 PM) I contribute that to the ump who wont call a strike 3 for Jon today!! I agree
  12. Garland continues to play with fire. He's allowed more 2 strike hits today than he has in a long time.
  13. That was the perfect opportunity to blow this game wide open. At least PK is swinging better. Frank, on the other hand, looks like he's back to square 1 at the plate.
  14. Crap. Like I said, Thomas has really got himself in a funk because he keeps trying to change his approach at the plate.
  15. Dear Frank: please don't hit a grounder to 3rd base here! Actually, we might see a double steal early in the count.
  16. BTW, does anyone know if C. Carrillo has pitched in the minors yet? I know that question doesn't belong here, but I figured someone might know.
  17. Wow! Excellent pitching by Garland after the first two hitters there. Indians fans aren't too happy right now.
  18. This ump doesn't have the balls to call the 3rd strike.
  19. f*** YOU umpire. That pitch was right down the f***ing plate. Ozzie needs to get ejected, and soon.
  20. Come on Garland. His change-up has been up most of this game, and Indians are putting solid swings on it. Need to keep them to no more than two runs this inning.
  21. Hopefully, those premature fireworks didn't wake up the Indians bats! Garland's having no problem getting to two strikes on the Indians hitters today...just needs to punch them out.
  22. The one positive about Uribe struggling hitting most of the season is that at least Pods gets to lead off a ton of innings.
  23. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jul 17, 2005 -> 06:43 PM) Good pitching does that. Even if a pitch is "Hittable", say up and outside, if you're looking down and in there's not much you can do about it. True, but even Buehrle admitted that he got away with a lot of bad pitches yesterday. I'm not saying we're not making good pitches, but it seems like the Indians aren't putting our mistakes in play (so far, that is).
