  1. Swing the f***ing bat AJP. That was right down the plate.
  2. How about this: Was the Iguchi error on Ortiz's grounder a play that should have been made? Farmer was saying it was a real tough play. Good catch by PK there.
  3. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jul 22, 2005 -> 02:44 AM) That's gonna cost us, right there. Crede has to go get that before it goes foul, and then step on 3rd. Oh well.
  4. QUOTE(qwerty @ Jul 22, 2005 -> 02:42 AM) Crede could have had that ball too that went off his glove... buehrle pitched a very good game considering we spotted the red sox a man on base an inning. Which double was that?
  5. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Jul 22, 2005 -> 02:40 AM) The decision to leave him in was fine. Buehrle didn't have much defense behind him tonight. Iguchi made two errors (three if you count the ball he couldn't quite get out of his mit on Damon), and Rowand dropped a ball in center (not counted as an error, but should've been). I thought Buehrle pitched damn well against a real good lineup. Did Iguchi have a legit chance at throwing Damon out at home on his error?
  6. QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ Jul 22, 2005 -> 02:38 AM) don't panic cause the twins still blow Is that sarcasm? Their starting pitching has been incredible lately, and they're an amazing 2nd half team. Don't forget, we play them a lot in this 2nd half.
  7. I just got home from work, but by following the game online and on the radio, why did Ozzie leave Buehrle in so long? He seemed to be struggling against the top of the Red Sox order, and was lucky that he hadn't given up more runs against the Red Sox. I know Ozzie loves to leave his starters in for as long as possible, but sometimes, it's better to not let extremely good MLB hitters see a pitcher for the 4th time in that game.
  8. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2005 @ Jul 22, 2005 -> 02:33 AM) I'm really starting to doubt if we can do anything in the post-season with such an anemic offense. We have to make the playoffs first. If we don't start scoring runs, we're not going to beat these tough teams we have play the rest of the way. No more Tampa Bay bullpens on the schedule.
  9. QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Jul 21, 2005 -> 04:19 AM) Rowand for Ken Griffey Jr. I said it. Flame away if you want. I would be all for this deal right now. I don't care if Rowand is still trying to find his swing, it's been almost 100 games into the season. After a while, a player isn't struggling to find his swing...they're having a poor offensive season. I would love for Rowand to have a 2nd half like he did last year, but so far, he's had a very soft hitting season.
  10. Every other post I see on this board deals with how some player will help our team in the postseason. Am I the only one who doesn't think it's a lock we make the playoffs this season? In no way am I trying to be pessimistic with this, but I've watched enough sports in my life to know that much, much, much crazier things have happened than a team with a 13 (now down to 11) game lead in their division not making the postseason. The Twins have been a dynamite 2nd half team for a couple of seasons now, and we have a ton of games left against them this season. In no way do I feel like the AL Central divison has been decided. If we can't win some slugfests against the Red Sox and Yankees this season, we're going to struggle against them. This is one of the biggest reasons that I get upset when I see Ozzie make quotes about how this team doesn't need to make any changes. It's better to be proactive, and go for the "kill", then to wait to see if something bad happens, and then have to make a reactive move.
  11. QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ Jul 21, 2005 -> 04:07 AM) We need someone to get smoking hot right about now, someone who can hit for power and more importantly to this team, average. J. Dye was quietly a beast the last month and a half before the ASB. He was clearly our best offensive weapon. However, he seems to have cooled off since the 2nd half started.
  12. If Hermanson is going to be questionable for a few more days, we need to call up another reliever. We can't keep using Politte or Cotts every game, even if we're losing. The timing wasn't great to finally get rid of Shingo.
  13. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jul 21, 2005 -> 03:47 AM) fathom, honest question who's out there to get?? And where is this player going to play?? Frank isn't going to be benched and nor should he be yet, Pauly isn't going to be benched because he's paul besides that there is no where to put another offensive weapon. Crede, Rowand, AJ, and Juan are all way to valuable to this team defensively to take them out of the lineup, honestly I just don't see where there's room for another hitter. I know, that's something that I've been thinking. There's something about our roster that just annoys me right now. We don't have much flexibility offensively, even though it seems like we should. I still hate Ozuna playing 3b. Here's a potential option: Ken Griffey Jr. in CF. I know, I know...he has the big contract and is injury-plagued. However, I've been very impressed with his hitting this season, and he could give us a whole different dimension at the plate. We definitely need help against tough righty pitchers.
  14. QUOTE(Brian @ Jul 21, 2005 -> 03:45 AM) Agreed. But if Pods is on 2nd in the first inning and nobody out, no need to "try and move him over" everytime. Let Gooch try and get him in. If it is in the later innings and we need a run, than I would understand moving runners over. Let Gooch swing! Exactly. We've been playing smallball far too often early in the game lately. We've really struggled out of the gate at home. We're playing a stretch of real solid teams now, and we can't keep thinking we'll shut the other team down the last few innings of the game, and we'll come back against their crappy bullpens. That might work vs KC and Tampa, but you get down to Boston early, and they'll keep on scoring and bury you.
  15. QUOTE(Brian @ Jul 21, 2005 -> 03:42 AM) Hawk commented on something that I speculated for a month or so now. Freddy doesn't seem to take his bullpen and mound warm ups very seriously. Just plays catch with the catcher between innings instead of getting a feel for the conditions and finding his release point. I think the team as a whole played like a bunch of dummies today. Garcia has never been known as a fierce competitor.
  16. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jul 21, 2005 -> 03:35 AM) I'm not going to argue with you on this, fathom. We've had this discussion before you know where I stand and vice versa, lets just leave it at that. I know. It's not like I dislike Rowand. He seems like a great guy. I've had to bite my tongue from saying too much in this thread.
  17. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jul 21, 2005 -> 03:34 AM) Oye ve. His contract wasn't that big, he's worth that kind of money alone because of his defense. There's quite a few similarities between Rowand and Uribe. Overachieving season, guaranteed 3 year deal, subpar season after the contract.
  18. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jul 21, 2005 -> 03:29 AM) The problem with Aaron right now is that he can't lay off the down and away breaking balls off right handers, this is something he learned to do much better last year, hence the nice season. Aaron's a very talented player and I think he can get back to the way he hit last season he's just got to be able to take those breaking balls again. Rowand has warning track power compared to last year. Last season, Rowand hit quite a few homers to the opposite field. This year, those opposite field drives are being caught on the warning track.
  19. I would love the Sox to acquire a number 3 hitter. Instead of going out and giving up huge prospects in order to get someone who pitches once every 5 games, why not go out and get an offensive weapon that could play every game?
  20. QUOTE(Cubs Suck23 @ Jul 21, 2005 -> 02:30 AM) I think the Sox should look into trading him either for a starting pitcher or an OF with alot of power and have Pods move to CF Pods is brutal in CF. He struggles enough in LF getting a read on the ball, and he's looked even worse in CF. I definitely don't think Rowand should be an untouchable. Especially with Anderson lurking, for the right player, Rowand could get traded. He just hasn't shown me enough this season for me to believe something wasn't legit last season.
  21. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jul 21, 2005 -> 02:25 AM) He had that big weakness at the start of last season where he just couldn't hit anything at all that was low and away. Looks like he still may have that problem. Rowand hit the ball with a lot more authority last season. It's obvious his bat speed is not the same as it was. There's a few different theories on why this is......it's just a matter of who you want to believe.
  22. If Rowand was on a team like the Rangers, Yankees, or Red Sox, he'd be the perfect CF for that team. However, on a team where you have a few other players who are defensive players (Crede and Uribe this season), his lack of offensive production sticks out a little more. The only recommendation I'd give Ozzie is to not be afraid to bench Rowand against RHP pitchers will real good sliders. Rowand doesn't adjust very well to the ball moving away from him.
  23. QUOTE(That funky motion @ Jul 21, 2005 -> 02:14 AM) I think that when he was throwing great in that A's series it got him kind of cocky. Bad play today,he had that guy at second. He also threw home yesterday allowing the man to go to second. He had no chance on either play. :banghead I agree. Besides that A's series, his arm has been subpar this season. Not only that, but the one play where Hawk orgasmed over was a throw from extremely, extremely shallow centerfield. Rowand's defense is the least of my worries about him though.
  24. Kerry Wood seems to suffer from losers limp. Whenever he has a bad start, it seems like he pulls himself from the game.
