I cant believe people are so high on: Willie Harris Neal Cotts Timo Perez Ben Davis Juan Uribe has had a very, very good season this year. No one expected numbers anywhere close to what he's contributed this year.
-
Like I've said every night for about the last week, f*** You Ozzie!
-
Remember, a lot of these fans see Gload and Ben Davis have one solid month, and they think they'll be full-time starters at the MLB level. You can't win at a hitters park with a defensive team. That's why I think that Ozzie is totally the wrong person for this job. He overmanages the offense too much often. There's no need for as many bunts as he had the Sox lay down (or pop up) this year.
-
Ah, nothing like seeing Shingo get hammered when going 2 innings. Seriously, does our management know anything? It's just very confusing. Don't mean to b****, just sick of this terrible display of managing I've seen for a long time this season.
-
OK, the Sox got lucky as hell that inning. What the hell was Ozzie thinking? No way should Sandy have been allowed to bat that inning. Also, did anyone else see what looked to be Borchard swearing at someone in the stands after his out?
-
Over the last 4 days, J. Adkins has gone 1 IP, 9 ER. Hey, Ozzie, might want to give him a break. Also, even though Sandy had been swinging solid today, probably should have ph for him there. Oh well, this season was lost a long time ago.
-
Did that remind anyone else of the scene from Little Big League when Jerry gets a seeing-eye single, and the whole team goes nuts? Sandy blooped one into the outfield, and Hawk acted shocked. Anyways, congrats Sandy on what's likely your last hit on the Sox.
-
Serious question: Will Sandy Alomar hit a ball out of the infield tonight? I'm thinking no way.
-
Sandy Alomar at DH????????? f*** you Ozzie
-
I just have to ask, when is Ozzie going to start to be blamed for this disaster of a season? This team flat out quit on him a long time ago it seems like, and Ozzie made no changes at all at the proper time to make this team better. He didnt have the balls to replace Koch when he should have, and ended up letting the Sox blow 2 more games before he made the change. I have no confidence in Ozzie being able to successfully manage this team in the future.
-
Exactly, the season means nothing! That's why you let your young players get some experience. Who's to say that Borchard doesnt hit 5 homers the rest of the way, and his trade value goes up? There's nothing to gain by playing Timo, Valentin, etc.
-
100 percent agree with you. Ozzie has been playing his favorites way too long. Borchard needs to play everyday, simple as can be. There's no reason not to let Uribe get a lot of reps at SS to see if he can play there next year. This organization is clueless, no other way to describe it.
-
Why in the world would Pavano sign with the Sox? He'll get a lot of money from someone, and I can't see him not wanting to be in the spotlight. I see the Yanks and Red Sox going after him hard. Also, Milton would give up 40 homers easily in our park. The biggest problem I see with our starting pitchers signed for next year is that we're paying 3 guys a lot of money, and not one of them is really worth the price we're paying them. It seems like other teams get those type of guys for about one or two million a year less.
-
Seriously, what is Ozzie trying to prove right now with this lineup? Who gives a s*** if we win one game against the Twins. Let the young players play to see what they can do. Hell, if Borchard gets hot, then his trade value increases. There's absolutely no reason to keep playing Timo and Valentin, etc.
-
EXACTLY! I'm so sick of the love fest for Timo right now. Hawk praises him like he's Ted Williams. I really hope that KW isn't considering starting Timo in RF next year. Timo is a fine pinch hitter, but he should NEVER start on a regular basis in the majors.
-
Ozzie has proven over and over this year that he has no clue what the hell he's doing. Hey Oz, the season is over, playing the youngsters!!!
-
One of the main reasons that I started this thread is cause the whole Konerko/Gload issue is very disturbing. If the Sox do choose to trade Konerko, they need to make sure that they replace him with someone that they can rely on. There have been too many times in the past few years that the Sox "thought" that a player might succeed at the mlb level, and it backfired on them. I think Gload is a very good bench player, and should be kept as a bench player. There are so many holes on the Sox, and they cant turn the 1b position, which is a strength of their team, into another question mark because they want to play Ozzieball.
-
No thanks, I'll pass on paying Maggs like 12 million for next year on a knee that no one is really confident that will maintain its strength. With our budget, no way we can take such a huge risk. If you want to keep the fans, then go sign a big name free agent like Beltran (never happen), Pedro (never happen), or Roberto Alomar!

There's been a lot of talk lately about how Ozzie wants the Sox to become a defensive, pitching, and speed team in the future. Am I the only one that doesn't think that this is a very good approach playing at the bandbox that is U.S. Cellular? First, getting these types of players will take a lot of personnel moves in the offseason, which will be hard to do on a team with about 5 or 6 big contracts. Teams like the Rockies and Brewers tried to change their philosophies from power to speed, and it didnt work out very well since they both play in great hitting parks also. If Ozzie gets these types of players, it will mean more bunting and reliance on starting pitching. Since the previous Sox teams have been such a contrast to Ozzie's wishes, you really have to wonder why KW hired Ozzie when he had this current Sox roster. Now, I know people will look at the Angels team, and say that's how we should model ourselves after. However, their payroll is a lot higher than ours will ever be, and they caught lighting in a bottle the year they won the WS with K-Rod coming up like he did. I just don't think that playing in a offensive ballpark means that you need to alter the roster in order to make it more competitive in road games, etc., where you don't hit as many homers. If the Sox want consistency, then they need it from the top of the organization all the way down. No more tinkering with the lineup on a regular basis, and keep to the organizational plans. A good example of not keeping to this plan is acquiring Carl Everett, who is about the complete opposite of the type of player that Ozzie wants on his team.

Hey danman, do you know if N. Herron will play this wknd for Northwestern? Got him on my fantasy team, and want to know if I should start him. Thanks
-
I honestly think that if Johan keeps up his string, the Twins have a solid shot at winning the world series. They hit good enough that they can manufacture 2-3 runs a game during the playoffs, and their defense wont lose them games. If they can pitch Johan 2 games a series, then I really think they have a decent shot.
-
Exactly, for as much s*** as Ozzie talks about other people (Buck, etc.), he sure has let him team act like a bunch of pansies this year.
-
Ozzie left Garcia in for one batter too long....again. Remember, Garcia has only pitched once in like a month.
-
Am I the only one pissed off that we finally decide to do something about Hunter about 2 months and 10 games in the standings after the collision? We had 2 1/2 games to send a message, and we acted like a bunch of pussies. Now, when it doesnt matter, we hit him.

Well, you might want to look at Pierre's stats for his career, and rethink that statement. Pierre has never hit below .287 in his career, and 3 of his 4 full major league seasons were above .300. Pierre also has never had a full season below 46 stolen bases, and has always hit more triples than Willie has.
