  1. QUOTE(chisoxfan79 @ Jul 10, 2005 -> 09:41 PM) What really pissed me off was that the ump called that pitch a ball two pitches earlier. True, he was inconsistent from how he was calling it earlier in the game.
  2. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jul 10, 2005 -> 09:38 PM) Whatever, there was nothing Carl could have done with that pitch, it started off so high and it didn't even really finish that close, oh yeah it was outside as well, that was just a terrible call, period and it cost us atleast a run. He's been calling that high, outside pitch all day. It was just one of those hangers which was thrown in a good location. I know this: If a Sox pitcher threw it, and it was called a ball, I would have been pissed.
  3. The interesting thing about the Uribe situation is that before we got him, all the Colorado media said was how Uribe was only concerned about getting the big payday. They all thought that once he got it, his production would hit the fan. Looks like they were dead on with that prognosis.
  4. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jul 10, 2005 -> 09:34 PM) It gets a bit ridiculous when you're playing a team that owns you for whatever reason and you have to beat the umps as well as the team. True, but we're also putting ourselves in a situation to get beat by the umpires. If you keep taking close pitches, the ump is going to ring you up on a regular basis. You don't see the A's getting called out on the third strike. They'll fight off the tough pitches, and then walk on a pitch way out of the zone.
  5. If KW is going to go for it all this year, then he should trade Uribe for Vizquel. Uribe obviously has mailed it in since he got his contract.
  6. A simply pathetic AB by Uribe there. Swing at the curves that were balls, and take the hanger right down the plate.
  7. I'm getting so sick of Uribe and his lack of offensive production. He's trying to pull every single pitch. He's so much better when he drives the ball to RF.
  8. That 7th run we allowed to the A's looms large now. I'm still not sure why Cotts was allowed to face Melhuse.
  9. Nice rally we have going here. About time we hit Duchsherer.
  10. We have to avoid hitting into a DP right now. AJP is a prime candidate to do so though.
  11. QUOTE(Soxnbears01 @ Jul 10, 2005 -> 09:26 PM) so is calling the best team in baseball an embarrasment. That I agree with.
  12. That's a bad call, but you have to foul off pitches like that instead of relying on the umpire.
  13. QUOTE(FLsouthsider @ Jul 10, 2005 -> 09:24 PM) Jeez, people, relax. It's one game out of 162, and it's not even over yet. We've heard that same line in each game of this series.
  14. Everyone s***s the bed against Oakland, including our manager. Why in the world would you leave Cotts in so long?
  15. QUOTE(Frankensteiner @ Jul 10, 2005 -> 09:22 PM) Yeah, I think Cleveland has something like 31 games against KC/Seattle/Tampa. We have 15. I'm pretty sure they're done having to play the Red Sox and Yankees this year, while we haven't played them at all. The first series after the ASB is huge for the rest of the season.
  16. QUOTE(Frankensteiner @ Jul 10, 2005 -> 09:21 PM) This team is a f***ing embarassment. You're going to get blasted for that comment. I'll say this though: There's not a worse in-game manager than Ozzie Guillen. I don't think there's another manager in baseball who would have let Cotts stay in to face Melhuse
  17. QUOTE(CYGarland @ Jul 10, 2005 -> 09:19 PM) The only positive i see about possibly getting swept here, is that it's AGAINST Oakland, who the Sox evidently feel cursed by. Just imagine if it was Minny There's not a single positive about being swept heading into the ASB.
  18. QUOTE(Frankensteiner @ Jul 10, 2005 -> 09:18 PM) The idea that we don't need to make moves is ridiculous. We've had a cupcake schedule compared to Cleveland, and whenever we run into good teams we s*** our pants. That all changes in the 2nd half. No kidding. 9 game leads in the division are definitely not locks. Especially considering how many of our pitchers pitched over their heads so far, and our record in one run games....we're due for our record to come back to earth.
  19. Well, at least that wasn't predictable. Nothing like being swept heading into the ASB. And yes, this game is over. The Sox have shown me nothing in terms of enthusiasm to comeback in this game.
  20. f*** YOU OZZIE GUILLEN! The guy has 4 f***ing walks in the inning, pull his f***ing ass.
  21. I don't care what side of the plate Melhuse bats from, but Cotts should not be in this f***ing game. Get your head out of your ass Ozzie...he clearly has nothing!
  22. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Jul 10, 2005 -> 09:12 PM) He's been hit or miss. Yes, but we've been having to use Cotts and Walker in situations where Marte has been our go-to guy.
  23. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Jul 10, 2005 -> 09:11 PM) This is f***ing pathetic. Nice momentum into the break. No kidding, that's what I've been trying to say all this wknd, but everyone keeps throwing our record in my face as reason why I'm just being negative. Our starting pitching has been poor, our bullpen poor, and our offense has sucked lately. Not exactly a team that looks very sharp. Too bad we can't play Tampa again right now to cure our ills.
  24. We really have missed Marte during the last 10 games or so.
  25. Well, Cotts is back to not being close on his offspeed pitch.
