Yes, Burke is our best catching option at driving the ball into the outfield. His approach at the plate is very solid. Speaking of driving in runs, should Ozzie have had Uribe hit for Willie there? Even if they bring in a rhp, Uribe is better vs rhp than Wilie is vs lhp. Also, it would have got a rhp in the game for when Jose is up.

Yes, it was a very good throw. It illustrates why you need a good throwing RF out there, and having Gload in RF allowed Higgy to get to 3rd in the last inning. Gload is valauble as a ph, but has a lot of holes as a starter. However, we have the Tigers right where we ant them.

It's called The Curse of Ross Gload. Borchard really needs to be playing RF if he's on the roster.
-
I wish that Bonderman would have stayed in for the simple reason that the Sox righty hitters are better against right handed pitching as opposed to the lefties vs lefty pitching. Konerko and Lee can hold their own vs rhp, but Jose and Harris struggle vs lhp.

Wow, great win! I love DJ's call of "game" when Joe hit it. Luckily, the ump didnt give Urbina anything on the outside corner.
-
I would love to see Borchard get a chance to hit for Sandy. At least w/Borchard, if he hits it well, it's gone.
-
Is it safe to say that Carlos is the leader of this team right now? He's playing with poise and confidence I've never seen before.
-
Should I be applauding Alomar for a terrible game so far? Ozzie had a fairly simple decision to make, and he didnt make it. With guys on 2nd and 3rd, no outs, Ozzie should have had Gload ph for Sandy. Then, if the Tigers bring in a lefty, you have Burke ph for Gload. Burke is a very good opposite field hitter, which is what we needed in that situation. Instead, Sandy hit a grounder to the left side, which is his trademark now.
-
Ozzie should feel free to manage sometime this game. Why not have Uribe ph for Jose there? Walker is way tougher on lefties than he is righties. Thanks Sandy, you SUCK!
-
No excuse for Sandy to be batting in that situation. Why can't Sandy go on the DL for some more knee surgery!! He's so freaking awful.

Everyone knows that the book on Uribe says that he's a very streaky player that can either get very hot or very cold. Yesterday, he went 2-4 w/a homer, yet he's not in the line-up tonight. Uribe needs to be in the line-up as much as possible if he's hitting good at the plate. especially with Maggs and Frank out.

In regards to the wild card, it seems almost impossible that the White Sox could finish ahead of the Red Sox or A's without Ordonez and Thomas. This current sox lineup is not impressive, which happens when you're missing your 2 best hitters. I'd really like to see Borchard in RF for the next week, and then trade for a RF if he continues to struggle in the majors. Timo asd your everyday RF will not equal playoffs.

Time to get another starter Kenny. Schoeneweis is terrible. Our catchers could hit a homer off of him.
-
Ozzie played into the Tigers hands that inning by having Sandy bunt. Any chance of a big inning was lost, even if Sandy got the bunt down. With the current lineup we have right now, the Sox can't afford ot give up a lot of outs.
-
This game is an example of why Schoeneweis can't be an effective starter in the majors. He struggles to get righties out, and the Tigers have 9 righties in their lineup. Even if SS pitches good, he'll likely give up 4 runs in 6 innings. An example of this is the Rangers game. Everyone is saying how great he pitched, yet he still gave up 4 runs in 5.3 innings. Not exactly a quality start for major league pitchers.
-
Not a very good lineup for the Sox tonight. I know with Maggs not playing, and Frank on the DL, the lineup dosnt look as strong. However, against a good pitcher like C.C., I'm worried we wont score more than 2 or 3 runs with Willie, Timo, and Ben Davis in our lineup. I really would love to see KW try to get someone like Tony G. to help out in games against tough lefties.
-
A close friend of mine believes that whenever Gload is in the lineup, this team loses. Now, I checked, and his last start which was a win was the Rauch vs Indians game. Gload should be used as a PH, and nothing more.
-
If I knew how to create sigs, I'd definitely come up with one for our 3-headed monster at catcher. The tracker would be how many games since a homer from any of them. Sandy hasnt hit one since opening day, and Burke and Davis have none this year.
-
Een though I couldnt see the Uribe play, and I'm sure I'll end up jinxing him, Uribe is as good a defensive 2b as there is in the majors. Above average range, and a very accurate throwing arm.
-
Oh my god, we agree on something! The Mariners are nuts not to trade Dan Wilson. They already have their catcher of the future in Olivo, and Wilson is nothing special. They already turned down Wilson for Restovich, who's the type of power hitting prospect they really need.

Anyone else in the Chicagoland area with DirecTv not getting a signal right now? The storms passed a while ago, but still no reception.
-
I really hope that KW is not satisifed with our catching core right now. Even the Twins are trying to upgrade their catching position by trying to acquire Dan Wilson. This could be good news for the Sox that Mauer might be out for longer than expected. I'd still much rather have a combo of Lecroy and Blanco than Alomar, Burke, and Davis.

Without Marte, this Sox team would be in 4th place. He's a great reliever, and don't want to imagine the Sox without him. However, I've been real concerned lately about his control. He doesn't seem close on a lot of pitches, and all a hitter needs to do is take a strike, and they have a good chance of walking. He's always been effectively wild, but it just seems more so than usual lately.
-
Even though most people consider me an ass on this board, I disagree w/everyone who blames Ozzie for not having PK bunt. He's our best power hitter, has had some good swings today, and in a game against this Rangers team at their place, one run doesn't necessarily win you the ball game there. It was more disappointing that PK took an awful swing at a good pitch to hit. With PK's speed, he coudl easily bunt into a DP.
-
Exactly. Smartest thing I've heard tonight. It always seems like he lets his pitchers give up those 2 extra hits/runs that he could have avoided.
