  1. Pick up your game Willie. This makes you appreciate Iguchi's effort to get the runner over even more.
  2. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Jul 9, 2005 -> 01:00 AM) Considering we're 31 games over .500, I'm pretty sure he has a good handle on what he wants to do. I was really hoping that no one would use the record as the answer to my thought. I don't know what our record has been lately with our "Sunday" lineup in the game, but everyone here knows how much we struggled at the beginning of the season with these types of lineup.
  3. QUOTE(CYGarland @ Jul 9, 2005 -> 12:58 AM) At this point I'm more worried about the Indians. They have a fairly easy 2nd half schedule The biggest series of the year for the Indians is the first series right after the ASB. With a 4 game series at home against the Sox, they have a chance to make up ground in a hurry. I'll be content with a 2-2 series after the ASB.
  4. QUOTE(sox-r-us @ Jul 9, 2005 -> 12:56 AM) Why is Timo focking Perez in the linep tonight? Didn't we have an off day yesterday and wouldn't all except 4 of our players get more rest soon? :puke Here's the one thing I haven't understood all season with Ozzie....when he does sub a starter, he seems to sub at least 2 or 3 starters in that same game. I have no problem with bench players getting a chance, but it would be better to just insert one bench player into the game with the starter, instead of having 33 pct of your starting lineup be bench players. Just a thought.
  5. Anyone still not feel the weird vibe in this game? The crowd is dead, and the Sox players seem lifeless.
  6. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Jul 9, 2005 -> 12:49 AM) It may look unconventional, and not be spectacular, but Timo usually makes all the plays he's supposed to make. I disagree with that. Timo has a ton of fly balls drop in front of him because he plays incredibly deep.
  7. Crosby looks like a superstar. Chavez is a huge out in this game here.
  8. BTW, not sure if this was mentioned, but on the pregame show, Ozzie said that he was excited with how Dye played 1b the other night because now he has a back-up 1b for the rest of the season. Did Gload get caught sleeping with Ozzie's wife or something?
  9. QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Jul 9, 2005 -> 12:46 AM) I feel it too Fathom. The crowd seems out of it. bigtime I don't know what it is. Things always seem so strange whenever we play Oakland.
  10. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Jul 9, 2005 -> 12:46 AM) Oakland owns us. Not a lot more you can say. Their hitters always make our pitchers work, and they don't often swing for the fences. Rather, they piece together a lot of hits/walks in an inning, and that seems to cause our pitchers a lot of trouble.
  11. If only we had that Kendall shift that we had on last series, that would have been a routine DP!
  12. Does this game have a weird vibe to it? It seems like everyone on the field is in slow motion, as well as the pitches and the swing of the hitters? And no, that's not a negative comment!
  13. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jul 9, 2005 -> 12:40 AM) I gaurantee that won't be your only negative comment of the night. I like the video in your sig too much to even try to consider a comeback.
  14. I know you all missed me, but I'm back, as I'm now situated in my new apartment. My first, and hopefully only negative comment of the night: Does anyone hit more weak pop-ups to the right side of the infield than Juan Uribe? I used to call that the Tony Graffanino special, but Uribe seems to do it at least once a game.
  15. QUOTE(Winnin Ugly @ Jul 7, 2005 -> 03:01 AM) Would anyone of you trade Jenks as part of a package to get a starting pitcher or do you think he should be untouchable... For the right player, I'd trade Jenks. However, the player would have to more than a one-year rental. The two players who come to mind that would be great additions would be Lidge or Dunn. However, we have no need for someone like Dunn right now.

    Bobby Jenks

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jul 7, 2005 -> 02:57 AM) His curve would be dominant entirely because he wouldn't throw it very often. When you can throw 99+...you throw that curveball as an out pitch, and Ted Williams will strike out. He was ahead of each of the last 3 hitters he faced. I'll give him the leadoff guy as just nerves. And that ump was pinching us all day. You make a good point that I was going to make. Jenks has a great curve, but his fastball is good enough so that he doesn't need to throw it early in the count in order to get ahead of the hitter. Rather, Jenks can save that pitch until he has 2 strikes, and he'll get a ton of hitters to chase it, even if it's not close to the plate. The difference between Jenks and McCarthy right now is that Jenks is able to get his fastball past MLB hitters, while McCarthy is not. Thus, McCarthy needs to use his whole repetoire in order to get 2 strikes on the batter. By that time, the hitter has seen the fastball and curve probably.
  17. 99mph low fastball is damn impressive. Thank you Angels.
  18. Good control by Jenks on that curve. BTW, please don't lump me in with those who wanted Jenks pulled after leadoff walk. I asked if Ozzie is warming anyone up simply to know if there was any indication about the type of leash he would give Jenks tonight.
  19. Want to see Jenks drop the curve with 2 strikes.
  20. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jul 7, 2005 -> 02:35 AM) When you have a 24 year old who can throw in the triple didgets...unless there's something seriously wrong with him you don't dare trade him. Never. Hell no. If you can parlay a player who was released, into a star player at the trade deadline, you've made a great transaction.
  21. I know this isn't probably the first thing that is of concern, but if Jenks was to come up and show great stuff/ability....he could be a very valuable trading piece. A lot of teams would be interested in a potential closer like Jenks. Lets just hope he does good. It's been a long path for him.
  22. QUOTE(qwerty @ Jul 7, 2005 -> 01:39 AM) I agree with fathom. Frank is just too damn selfish. Hell, I never said Frank can't hit homers. I made it clear that when I said I thought he was selfish because he's up there swinging for a homer every AB. When he connects, it's great and everyone is happy (rightfully so). Trust me, I was just as happy as anyone about last night's heroics.
  23. QUOTE(Soxnbears01 @ Jul 7, 2005 -> 01:46 AM) you know by now, they only show up when we're losing. I don't take offense to much that is said on message boards, but that's total bulls***. I'm on gamethreads nearly every single night, win or lose. Even the most optimistic of posters will stick up for me on this point.
  24. QUOTE(Soxnbears01 @ Jul 7, 2005 -> 01:46 AM) you know by now, they only show up when we're losing. Wow, I'm missed? Actually, I'm in the process of moving, and I was stuck without internet and television until late tonight. Pisses me off that I missed last night's heroics. And yes, I think it will be interesting to see if the Sox might consider Dye at 1b next year. It's a lot easier to find a RF than it is a 1b.
