LIke I said, hard to score 3 runs off of Angels bullpen. Way to go Timo and Willie!
-
Today's game was a great example of why Ozzie needs to be little more instinctive during the games with his pitchers. Loaiza was not fooling anyone today, as is evident by retiring 16 batters and giving up 13 hits. Loaiza also struggled mightily against the Angels 8-9-1-2 hitters. Therefore, why Ozzie didnt' have anyone warming up in the 6th in case Loaiza got in trouble is bad managing. The Angels are not the team to fall behind by more than one or two runs heading into the late innings. They have a terrific bullpen, and add that to the Sox hitting slump, makes a 3 run deficit hard to overcome. Also, why didnt Ozzie bring in Cotts to face Anderson instead of Cliffy?

-After watching the last 5 games, it's becoming clear that this current Sox team is not good. Look at the lineup of the Angels and the Sox, and tell me who has the superior talent. The Angels have much better everyday players, and don't use the injury excuse to Maggs cause they're missing Glaus. -Sox currently have the worst catching core in the majors. Do they have a single catcher that can hit the ball out of the infield with any authority? I supported the Garcia trade, but we gave away a solid player with a high ceiling at the position which might be the hardest to get a good player. -Schoeneweis should be traded to a pitching desperate team like the Reds or Rangers. He has a bad attitude, and it getting shelled. His stuff is mediocre, and he cant get righties out. -The bigget mistake that the Sox have made since Maggs got injured was not calling up Borchard to take his spot on the roster. It's an absolute joke that the Sox have to play a weak hitting lefty right fielder against lefty starters. I know Borchard has struggled before, but he has to have been a better option than Timo against lhp, and don't get me started on Ross Gload in right field. -If the Sox were to fall like 8 games out around July 20th, they should try to trade Maggs. However, I think trading Loaiza is an even smarter thing to do. No way in hell would I pay this guy Freddy money, especially with his arm strength looking bad and that we play in Coors East. Loaiza could get us real good prospects from a pitching hungry team. -Ozzieball is horses***. I can't remember the last time that Ozzie put on a play or did something creative. Hell, at least Manuel didnt have all our pitchers allow 3 hits to start an inning and then pull them like Ozzie has this year. Mark this down: If Freddy Garcia fails during his 3 years, the two best friends will be leaving this organization at the same time.

Carlos has had 3 terrible at-bats this game. He was swinging out of his ass each time, and was an easy out. This Sox offense is brutal right now with all the easy outs.
-
The biggest mistake that Ozzie has made since Maggs got hurt was not agreeing to call up Borchard. Gload has been a disgrace in RF, and Timo and Rowand are better off platooning. Also, Willie needs to just go away.
-
Freddy needs to keep the ball down. He's been up with everything. You can't get away with that outside of SafeCo.
-
Good job by Ozzie of letting Frank bat there. Some managers would wait to ph their star til the end of the game, but Ozzie tried to use him when he could do the most damage.
-
What has happened to Willie Harris? His slugging pct. in June was .197. That is absolutely terrible. Does Willie need some more time in the minors? Maybe we should call up Bryant Nelson, who's putting up some good numbers in AAA, and I believe is a 2b. Of course, this would have to be after Maggs is back for the outfield depth.
-
I don't get why Ozzie wanted to start Diaz against the Cubs again after they just saw him last week. We all know Diaz is a gopher-ball pitcher, and with the wind blowing out at the s***hole, the Sox don't have much of a chance to win this game. Diaz does not have very good stuff, which makes it even more imperative that he doesnt face teams back-to-back within a short span of time.

Wow, thanks for adding to the conversation. I sure hope that I can be that insightful after thousands of posts on here.

There is no way that Loaiza will only want 4 to 5 million. He's going to go into the offseason averaging about 18 wins over the last 2 years. He'll want like 8-10 million per year. I have a feeling he'll be signing with the Padres.
-
Someone should tell that f***ing tool Chip to stop complaining about the injuries ot the Cubs. The Sox are missing the best player in Chicago, and they don't go blaming everything on it.
-
It is painfully obvious that Loaiza is nowhere near the level he was at last year. His arm strength isn't even close. With that in mind, KW should NOT sign Loaiza to a deal after the season. Because of his inflated win total this year, combined with last years stats, he's going to get a lot more money than he is worth.
-
I don't think there is anyway that KW would do this trade with just these two involved. Valentin is as important to the Sox as any other player on the team. I really hope that KW doesn't trade any of the core players on this team that have put the Sox in good position in the standings. The only person that I would consider dealing is Maggs, cause you just dont want to lose a superstar and not get anything back in return.
-
Does anyone have a link of this report? Let's hope this is just bs speculation instead of any soon-to-be completed information. If this is true, it would go completely against the logic KW said on why he traded Olivo for Garcia. No one in their right mind could think tht Ramon Ortiz could lead the Sox farther than Valentin could. It's quite pathetic that we have to worry about KW being so stupid that he might make a move like this.
-
If the Sox made this move, it would lock up the AL cenrtal...for the Twins. Valentin has been great for the Sox this year, and is our only good bat from the left side. Ramon Ortiz is not very good, and pitching at the Cell would only add to the amount of homers that he allows. There's a reason that he wasnt in the rotation to start the year for the Angels. If KW makes this trade, I hope he is fired at the end of the year and never has a role in the Sox organization again. Also, for everyone saying that Harris could play 2b, and Uribe ss..I say what the hell are you thinking? Harris can't even hit the ball out of the infield anymore, and Uribe looks like he already peaked. The Sox need Valentin, and defnitely don't need a crappy, expensive pitcher like Ramon Ortiz.

ESPN 1000: Freddy Garcia traded to the White Sox
fathom replied to Flash Tizzle's topic in Pale Hose Talk
What a terrible, terrible deal. It's one thing to give up minor league prospects, but to give away your catcher of the future when you have no one in the minors to replace him is just f***ing stupid. I thougth this was a joke when I first heard it. -
Willie and Uribe sure went from .300 hitters to easy, easy outs.
-
Hey dumbs*** Ozzie, stop pitching this worthless f***er! I'm sure glad of the veteran presence that this piece of s*** brings to the team. When are people going to stop blowing Ozzie for everything that he does, and realize he's clueless.
-
The choice is easy if the Sox are more than 7 or 8 games out...YOU TRADE ORDONEZ! It sounds as if he won't be back. Then, you trade him and get 2 or 3 top prospects for him.
-
Why do people think this current Sox team has any chance to compete against a very good Twins team? The Twins are able to march out L. Ford as a back-up outfielder, and the Sox have R. Gload! I really hope we don't trade too much of our future for what could be an impossible title run.
-
First, the talent level on the Sox is terrible right now. If the Sox arent facing a lefty or a running team, Olivo should not be in the lineup. He's clueless against righty pitchers. Also, Rowand leading off is a good idea vs lefties. However, he should be way down in the lineup vs righties. I absolutely hate the idea that KW and Ozzie havent wanted to call up Reed or Borchard in order to give Gload and Timo more time. You play the players that can excel best at that position. If Borchard is not better than Gload is right now, then trade his ass before he's 35 years old. Just look at the talent gap between the Sox and Cubs right now. I hate those f***ers from the northside, but their lineup is 5 times more talented than the Sox is.
-
I Dont get why Timo hasnt been playing more. He was one of our best offensive players the last few weeks. Instead, we play Gload against Prior, which is just asking for strikeouts.
-
Exactly, the bullpen is awful. However, Ozzie is playing into the suckitude by bringing in Jackson to face a strong lefty in Broussard. Jackson has never been effective against lefties. KW proves his ingnorance by not addressing this problem, being the talent level of the relievers.
-
Even though Jackson sucks, Buehrle was the one that allowed 3 hits to start the inning. Time to release Jackson, and call up Jose Santiago.
