Nothing is ever easy it seems like. That was definitely a play that Harris needs to make at 2nd base.
-
Hermanson is up with everything. Something just doesn't look right at all.
-
Cotts should be getting loose in case Hermanson struggles, and Choi and Drew come up this inning.
-
Little tidbit to think about.....last time Hermanson faced the Dodgers, he was busy blowing a game which cost the Giants a chance at the playoffs. Hopefully, he gets his revenge on national television.
-
Holy cow! Mr. Clutch, Aaron Rowand, comes through again!
-
Just like to say that was a great job by Ozzie of utilizing Frank in a way that could impact the whole inning. That's very good managing.
-
QUOTE(Jabroni @ Jun 20, 2005 -> 02:11 AM) Stupid managing once again. Ozzie lets Contreras face Choi even though Choi can't hit lefties at all. Should have pulled Contreras and made Marte face Choi. Exactly. We had an opportunity to face a much easier out in Choi by bringing in Marte, but instead, we put Drew in a position to do some serious damage. Ozzie trying to let Contreras get the win?
-
Well done Willie!!!!! Probably the hardest hit ball he's had all season.
-
QUOTE(Jabroni @ Jun 20, 2005 -> 01:48 AM) Let's see if Willie can hit the ball out of the infield. His best chance at getting a hit is when there's someone on first base, and the 1B has to hold the runner at first, opening up the hole on right side of the infield.

QUOTE(Soxfest @ Jun 20, 2005 -> 01:37 AM) Why do Sox always lay an egg on sunday night national tv on ESPN. Sox recors is terrible on ESPN Maybe because our players try to swing for the fences even more during these nationally broadcasted game? Just my theory.
-
Uribe against a pitcher like Weaver is a recipe for an 0-4 night. Any pitcher with a slow offspeed pitch kicks Uribe's ass.
-
Uribe had his pitch on the 2-1, but just fouled it off. Hopefully he'll just try and poke one to rightfield here.
-
Damn, the ball bouncing over the fence cost us a run there. We need Uribe to come up with a clutch hit here.

QUOTE(winodj @ Jun 20, 2005 -> 01:19 AM) He was a lot better at shaking that stuff off earlier in the season, it seems. Here's my observation of Contreras. He's lost command of his splitter, and he doesn't have good enough control of his fastball to get MLB hitters out on a regular basis. Contreras was successful earlier in the year because once he had 2 strikes on the hitter, the batter basically had no prayer with the forkball.
-
Why wasn't the infield in there? With Phillips' speed, there's no way they would have sent him on that chopper. Big out here for Contreras though.

QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Jun 20, 2005 -> 01:16 AM) And Neal Cotts' career ERA is 5.09. What's your point? He's got consistent AB's in just one year, and he played pretty well in that time. Willie Harris had plenty of time last year to showcase his skills, and he performed in a manner that the Sox decided to go after another player to start at 2nd base. That tells me all I need to know about Harris.
-
QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Jun 20, 2005 -> 01:09 AM) 'Cause he's slumping now? It's pretty easy to kick a guy when he's down, and Harris is clearly "down" at the plate right now. I'm pretty confident that if given the AB's he's been getting over the course of the season, he'll get that OBP back up to league average. Here's my biggest problem with Willie: He doesn't hit the ball hard enough consistently. He grounds out weakly to the right side of the infield way too much. Yes, he has good speed, but how often do you see Willie actually beat out an infield chopper? Very rarely it seems.

This isn't a doom and gloom post, but when was the last time we won on Sunday Night Baseball?
-
QUOTE(winodj @ Jun 20, 2005 -> 01:01 AM) You're right, fathom. The season is over.... 45-117 here we come. Wow, considering I just joined in on this thread about 10 minutes ago, I don't understand why this has turned into everyone against me? The thing that has bothered me the most in this game so far was the missed 2-2 pitch on Kent. Not the Sox hitting or anything else...yet.
-
QUOTE(SoxFanForever @ Jun 20, 2005 -> 01:00 AM) It's the 4th inning. How about stepping off the ledge until the game is over. I haven't said anything negative about the Sox offense tonight so far. I know it's still early in the game, but we need to pick it up. I didn't see the game last night, but I can't believe we didn't get more hits against Dessens.
-
Good turn by the guys there. At first, it looked like Crede would have been better off going home. Saenz's base running looks to have cost Dodgers a run at least.
-
Well, it's 1-0 now. Is our offense still off the hook?
-
QUOTE(Wanne @ Jun 20, 2005 -> 12:57 AM) I'm sorry...but my platoon system entails Dye and Everett....NOT Carl and Frank!!! That's bulls*** IMO! I'll be more than happy if we can get Frank to play 2 out of every 3 games in a series.
-
The no-call by the ump on the 2-2 pitch to Kent looks like it's going to cost us a run.
-
QUOTE(jackie hayes @ Jun 20, 2005 -> 12:55 AM) There's way overblown negativity, and then there's fathom. Thanks Jackie. Hell, I had to stop myself from complaining about Pods defense again, as I figured the Sox golden boy would get another free pass from my fellow Sox fans. All I was saying was that it sure seems like Pods takes a ton of called 3rd strikes. Jimenez had 59 of them last year, I do know that for a fact.
