  1. Uribe had his pitch on the 2-1, but just fouled it off. Hopefully he'll just try and poke one to rightfield here.
  2. Damn, the ball bouncing over the fence cost us a run there. We need Uribe to come up with a clutch hit here.
  3. QUOTE(winodj @ Jun 20, 2005 -> 01:19 AM) He was a lot better at shaking that stuff off earlier in the season, it seems. Here's my observation of Contreras. He's lost command of his splitter, and he doesn't have good enough control of his fastball to get MLB hitters out on a regular basis. Contreras was successful earlier in the year because once he had 2 strikes on the hitter, the batter basically had no prayer with the forkball.
  4. Why wasn't the infield in there? With Phillips' speed, there's no way they would have sent him on that chopper. Big out here for Contreras though.
  5. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Jun 20, 2005 -> 01:16 AM) And Neal Cotts' career ERA is 5.09. What's your point? He's got consistent AB's in just one year, and he played pretty well in that time. Willie Harris had plenty of time last year to showcase his skills, and he performed in a manner that the Sox decided to go after another player to start at 2nd base. That tells me all I need to know about Harris.
  6. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Jun 20, 2005 -> 01:09 AM) 'Cause he's slumping now? It's pretty easy to kick a guy when he's down, and Harris is clearly "down" at the plate right now. I'm pretty confident that if given the AB's he's been getting over the course of the season, he'll get that OBP back up to league average. Here's my biggest problem with Willie: He doesn't hit the ball hard enough consistently. He grounds out weakly to the right side of the infield way too much. Yes, he has good speed, but how often do you see Willie actually beat out an infield chopper? Very rarely it seems.
  7. This isn't a doom and gloom post, but when was the last time we won on Sunday Night Baseball?
  8. QUOTE(winodj @ Jun 20, 2005 -> 01:01 AM) You're right, fathom. The season is over.... 45-117 here we come. Wow, considering I just joined in on this thread about 10 minutes ago, I don't understand why this has turned into everyone against me? The thing that has bothered me the most in this game so far was the missed 2-2 pitch on Kent. Not the Sox hitting or anything else...yet.
  9. QUOTE(SoxFanForever @ Jun 20, 2005 -> 01:00 AM) It's the 4th inning. How about stepping off the ledge until the game is over. I haven't said anything negative about the Sox offense tonight so far. I know it's still early in the game, but we need to pick it up. I didn't see the game last night, but I can't believe we didn't get more hits against Dessens.
  10. Good turn by the guys there. At first, it looked like Crede would have been better off going home. Saenz's base running looks to have cost Dodgers a run at least.
  11. Well, it's 1-0 now. Is our offense still off the hook?
  12. QUOTE(Wanne @ Jun 20, 2005 -> 12:57 AM) I'm sorry...but my platoon system entails Dye and Everett....NOT Carl and Frank!!! That's bulls*** IMO! I'll be more than happy if we can get Frank to play 2 out of every 3 games in a series.
  13. The no-call by the ump on the 2-2 pitch to Kent looks like it's going to cost us a run.
  14. QUOTE(jackie hayes @ Jun 20, 2005 -> 12:55 AM) There's way overblown negativity, and then there's fathom. Thanks Jackie. Hell, I had to stop myself from complaining about Pods defense again, as I figured the Sox golden boy would get another free pass from my fellow Sox fans. All I was saying was that it sure seems like Pods takes a ton of called 3rd strikes. Jimenez had 59 of them last year, I do know that for a fact.
  15. Contreras just got screwed on the 2-2 pitch to Kent. That pitch had been called a strike the entire game.
  16. Is Pods giving D. Jimenez a run for most strikeouts looking in a season?
  17. QUOTE(rangercal @ Jun 18, 2005 -> 04:35 PM) I didnt care too much for ozzies comments at the end of the article :headshake Yeah, but that's a pretty common thought that many of us have whenever Ozzie opens his mouth. Thankfully we're winning, but I hate the way we've acted in the press lately. It's flashbacks of the Cubs from the last few seasons on Dusty.
  18. Not so sure I like Buehrle admitting that he left pine tar on his hands when he was pitching in NL home games. I don't see a reason for someone to admit that they did something illegal the day after someone got suspended 10 games for doing the same.
  19. QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ Jun 16, 2005 -> 08:24 PM) Boers & Bernstein said on the Score that Bruce Weber hung up on Jon Scheyer when he called to tell him he was going to Duke... If that's true, it pretty much confirms a lot of things I've heard about Weber. There's a big reason why top recruits don't like him too much.
  20. This might be the most Clayton has contributed to a possible Sox win ever.
  21. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jun 16, 2005 -> 01:30 AM) He did. When? Sorry, but I can go without Hawk whining about the umpires for just one inning. Garland got beat by throwing meatballs down the plate, not because he was getting squeezed. Pods swung at ball four over his plate.
  22. Want to see what happens to a team built to play smallball when the park is playing small? This series does not make our chances look very good the rest of this summer when the ball is flying out of the Cell.
  23. This s*** would have never happened tonight if the Diamondbacks followed the Ozzie Guillen style of managing and benched 3 of his starters after winning the first 2 games of the series.
  24. Welcome back to reality Mr. Garland. Maybe you don't want to throw a first pitch get me over to someone with immense power. Where's all the people saying not to worry because we have the best record in baseball?
