Getz also couldn’t wait to get some of these guys. The Bummer trade was the first transaction any team made I believe, and then DeJong was early in the process as well.
There is no doubt in my mind that when Getz met with Jerry last year after the firings, Jerry complained to him about the bad defense and Getz agreed to go away from the slugger/bad defense approach.
Maldonado, Lopez, Flexen, Hill, DeJong and Leone sucking was the most predictable thing ever. I think we all would have been shocked if they didn’t suck.
Lopez is another guy that I will never understand how they thought his hitting style would work at this park. He could barely hit at KC with their giant outfield. The decision making exhibited by Getz this past offseason should terrify people.
I’ve been meaning to post this, but Getz saying he wanted to improve the defense so free agents would want to sign here is hilarious. I’m sure they’re going to be so excited to sign with a team coming off of 115 losses.
