  1. They also updated the top 30. Lots of new names. Sad that many previous top 30 are off the list due to poor performance and many are on the list as shiny new unproven toys. https://www.mlb.com/prospects/whitesox/

  5. https://www.mlb.com/prospects/stats/affiliates?teamId=145&date=08/07/2023 https://www.milb.com/scores/all/all/whitesox The big club and the two rookies.
  6. https://www.mlb.com/prospects/stats/affiliates?teamId=145&date=08/06/2023 https://www.milb.com/scores/all/all/whitesox Earlier games on getaway day. Saw Sprinkle was in ACL. Noted a rehab assignment. Maybe it will give him some confidence. So many prospects have not had good/great years.
  7. We traded the right to spend money. With what we have just witnessed at the deadline, who thinks we were going to spend that money? People correctly point out that these deals are worked out often years in advance and we most likely had no one lined up. While I would prefer to be the Dodgers and have so much talent lined up to acquire that I needed more pool money, the Sox aren't in that position. Considering the above statements, getting two actual players, 19 and 20 years old, one of whom has had some success, in essence for nothing was actually the correct move.
  8. I fear everyone is missing a massive issue. How long will Jerry have the team? Do you uproot your family, leave your current good gig to go to a team that will likely be sold when the current, elderly, owner passes? After paying a couple billion for a team, most new owners will want to put their own management team in place. You would be gambling that you could turn a team around so quickly that a new owner would want to keep you and your people in place. Kim Ng seems to be doing a decent job but the Marlins don't give me the same organizational vibe of the Rays or Dodgers where I might be content to just sit back and not rock the boat. Owners have egos.
  9. https://www.mlb.com/prospects/stats/affiliates?teamId=145&date=08/05/2023 https://www.milb.com/scores/all/all/whitesox Ky Bush for AA
  10. Norge Vera pitched a scoreless inning in the ACL! One walk. May be the best thing from the day. He really needs some innings. Probably fall league?
  11. Might have been interesting to send Patino's film to all our pitching coaches. Whoever had best insight/ plan gets him first but what do I know.
  12. It very well could be that the parameters of a deal had been worked out. It was a busy time, Hahn could have been on the phone with some other club and she may have called saying yes we will do the deal. Or Hahn could have been locked in a closet. I don't think if Hahn was completely out of the loop, you keep sending him out to the press. Think stuff would have leaked more from other organizations also.
  13. https://www.mlb.com/prospects/stats/affiliates?teamId=145&date=08/04/2023 https://www.milb.com/scores/all/all/whitesox Several double headers. Patino for AAA. Thompson and Simas scheduled
  14. Didn't see it in a thread but Lambert recalled yesterday and Thompson today. Thompson starting in CF today. At this rate would you take a chance on Kuechel and his near 1.00 ERA at AAA if Twins don't add to roster?
  15. https://www.mlb.com/prospects/stats/affiliates?teamId=145&date=08/03/2023 https://www.milb.com/scores/all/all/whitesox Well the minors are a little more interesting. Nastrini going for AA.
  16. 1) We shouldn't have been in this position. 2) Due to how weak our farm system was, (caveat for it is only one ranking system, 2023 picks not included) the prospects we acquired according to MLB.com now make up our #2,4,5,7,14,27 and a low 30s prospects. 3) It was a solid haul of prospects for what we gave up, our relative lack of leverage, and saved a fair bit of payroll. 4) Using some historical data, we should expect several of these players to get to the major leagues. One or two may be reasonably solid players. On one of the deadline broadcasts it was mentioned that over something like the last 15 years 574 prospects were traded. 3% became major impact (not sure what qualifies) and a bit over 10% became solid regulars (again don't know their criteria). It dampens my enthusiasm but overall, we received some players closer to the majors and higher rated than what most other teams received so maybe somewhat better odds.
  17. I understand he has had a small partial tear. I haven't seen his last scan (or others) but if it is now totally torn or significantly progressed from before then it is different. My point was going into the trade deadline , the front office knew he was out for all or virtually all of 2024.
  18. This was not an emergency surgery so the front office had to be well aware!
  19. Don't use the app unless watching game on iPad. Sorry not more help. I think one of the links only began carrying those two leagues in the last year or so.

  21. Between mlb Sox and AAA batters, 21k-0 w tonight. Hmmmmm maybe a problem
  22. Jake can certainly be appreciated for his perseverance, hustle and seemingly being a really likable guy. I hope he becomes a really good player for the Marlins. I also hope we win or tie the trade.
  23. This is the day!!!! Will it be a bang or a whimper? https://www.mlb.com/prospects/stats/affiliates?teamId=145&date=08/01/2023 https://www.milb.com/scores/all/all/whitesox
