I call bullspiff. It was the right move to go to Thorton, Matt just had a bad night. I bet you if he left MacDougal in there, people would have called for Matt, saying Ozzie is mismanaging this game. I gaurentee it.
When the hell are people going to realize hindsight has always been 20/20? Hell, let's blame every fishing thing on Ozzie, if it makes people feel happy!
Does this mean we now give credit to Ozzie going to Riske, or when it works do we call it luck? I agree with you, I can suggest a different move after the first one failed.
-
Well this is a Risky move.......sorry couldn't help it.

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Aug 1, 2006 -> 10:39 PM)Mark...I'm going to wear your jersey tonight at the Angel game..make me proud.
Last time my son and I saw you in Aneheim was a great night. We begin again!

Four run lead is made for back of the pen guys.
-
Why is Contreras still in? 106 pitches starting the inning.
-
I am worried. This would be huge to nail down.
-
I agree Dye is slowing in the outfield. His bat more than covers this up. In future years, I would move him to left and let the younguns cover center and right.
-
come on...gb...dp
-
I put Anderson in Mac to left and have someone up in thepen.
-
I would have Anderson in as well, but resting Thome and easing Paulie back in as a dh makes sense. Thome earlier this year vs Chen 1-3 with 2k, Paulie 1-1 HR and walk.

I need help from a stat person. Ignoring the fact that Vaz is making 10+ million a year and McCarthy probably the minimum, could their roles be reversed? I would love to see stats on success at different pitch counts. Javy is getting hammered later in games it seems. Could he be a dominant reliever ala Smoltz? I am not advocating replacing Jenks, I am just discussing making the best puzzle out of the available pieces. When you get to the playoffs one starter is heading to the pen. Garcia has big game success, McCarthy has some relief experience, Javy none that I can find in his career stats. Maybe Javy gets experience now or in September when call ups provide further depth. I understand why he drives people crazy because he has great talent. I don't know if it is physical or mental fatigue that is causing his trouble.

Crap! It happened before I could finish posting.
-
In the past, Javy has not responded well to adversity.....grow stones!
-
While with a six run lead, I would have let McCarthy try to finish the game. From a matchup standpoint, Ozzies move was well founded, even if Carlos had gotten a hit.
-
Just checked, Carlos 100 pts lower batting vz lefty and 300 OBP.
-
As an eternal optomist, I am hoping the sweep is the slap in the face to wake up some of our team. I hope all the gurus' jump off the wagon now.

I actually feel sorry for Cliff because everyone in the world knows that Ozzie(and all others) have no confidence in him. He has to know he is gone. I would like another trip to the DL and two weeks of rest , then rehab. We can't get anything of value for him and maybe it is an injury situation that he could recover from. I think he was rushed back the first time.

Must reach......100!

Getting a giid feeling.....

Was a warning issued?

Sorry I don't know how to link, but it is on the official site. Bauman writes a good article about how the Sox are now coming together and hitting on all cylinders. I am bewildered that Ozzie's dugout tirade in which Ozzie stated he called out the team (not just Tracey) for not standing up for each other is not listed as a contributing factor. Possibly due to the recent controversies, it is not politically correct to praise or defend Ozzie if you are in the media. My take is that Ozzie's tirade had the exact effect on his team that he wanted.

Rule 5 pick Fabio Castro went on the 15 day DL on May 2. Is he on a rehab assignment or are the Rangers trying to avoid offering him back to us?

Still a long way to go, but that was huge.
