For the record, the new intros are a sliced up edition of "Skull and Crossbones" off of the Pirates of the Caribbean:Curse of the Black Pearl soundtrack. The classic opening is from the end of the track, and the kickass highlights are the beginning of the track.

What do you expect (Realistically) of El Duque?

QUOTE(GoSox05 @ Apr 8, 2005 -> 03:26 PM) to not give up three home runs in one inning. -
QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Apr 8, 2005 -> 03:07 PM) When the strike zone is the size of a pea, and the hitters are patient, it becomes a lot easier to look like batting practice pitcher. Yes, the umps dont play the game. But they handcuffed shingo and the tribe capitalized. If that zone is called on say, tribe's 789, the odds are still in the sox' favor. Btw, can we kill this now? I almost wish we were playing a day game today.

winning solves everything. shingo has 2 BS. Period. You call him.
-
People will notice Santana's missing. All those bulloen guys look alike.
-
You play to win last time I checked. And in extras you play to win that inning. the only one burnt is luis, move on. rule: 24 hours between posts after tough losses, at elast sleep on it. that one goes for everyone.

Dont we have to pistol whip him first? Or do we have ether for the takedown?

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Apr 8, 2005 -> 02:29 PM) And from Ozzie..."I told [Pierzynski] when you go out there [for Contreras], tell him to throw strikes. When he gets back to the dugout, I'll take care of the rest." I would have loved to hear that conversation. with translation, of course.

I think we should pistol whip him, but ok.

I would expect : IP 6-7 ER 2-4 Ks 3-5 WHIP 1.2-1.4 It may not be pretty, but it will be solid none the less, and mayeb a little scary at times. I think Shingo's available today. I think everyone is ready for today except Vizcaino Duke/Cotts/Marte/Shingo with maybe a little Cliff (!) thrown in there. -
Do you chalk that up to relievers still getting some experience under their belts? Not getting enough IP in spring training because thats the nature of the beast? I think thats the case in MLB for the first 2 weeks or so...I expect alot more league wide BS this month (hopefully not the Sox) I dont think Shingo's "figured out" yet. Go back and watch the 9th again if you can. He had strike 3 a couple of times on a couple of different hitters. Game over, Sox by three or Sox in a squeaker if the umpire gives him those sliders on the outside corner (vs RHB, inside vs LHB). Shingo backed into hitters counts scare me, because he almost HAS to serve it up and hope they get ahead of it/knock it down. The Tribe sat back...fought it off, got the calls, and kudos to them. End of story. I want to see Shingo take Torii, Morneau, and Ford 1-2-3 for a white sox winner.....

QUOTE(DonkeyKongerko @ Apr 7, 2005 -> 10:35 PM) Now that I think about it, it's weird how Cotts gets more innings and Marte is used as a specialist like Wunsch. I was pulling for Walker to make the team this Spring and give us three lefties out of the pen. I think this is because you eventually want to stretch Cotts out into a starter? As for Marte, we need a situational lefty guy and he best fits that role even though he could be used elsewhere.

Breaking it down: You bring in your closer in the 9th. If he has it, you win. If he doesnt you roll the dice. WE can second and third guess all we want. Hell, so can Ozzie. BUT, Shingo lost this one. This isnt a pattern until it happens more than a few times. This isnt a problem until it becomes a pattern. Joe Crede's hitting...thats a problem. Shingo's bad day...thats it. No I do not accept losing. No I do not look for the moral victories. I do accept that sometimes, people just dont have it and you dont know until its too late. We were "lucky" it went into extras today. Search deep down, we all would have done it the same. You put in your closer in the 9th, because if you dont and you lose, everyone will 2nd guess you. With a tie game in extra innings, you always play like your going to win in the bottom of the inning. Did we use too many pitchers? Hell yes if your catcher is warming up. Is everyone burnt for the weekend? Hell no, unless youre Jose, then well see you on Saturday (unless Garland pitches 8)

QUOTE(MoreCowbell @ Apr 7, 2005 -> 05:55 PM) Didn't they do something with the Imperial March at some point? That was pretty sweet. That would have been an adequate replacement for Thunderstruck. Also, in college fashion, hordesof sox fans chanting "kill, kill, kill" would be nice too. But ill concede to Steff, Id put up with John Tesh for the intros if the Sox were winning.

I just want to know when or where Willie learned how to bunt? Also, anyone notice Juan Uribe still swings at ANYTHING? -
QUOTE(Texsox @ Apr 7, 2005 -> 03:12 PM) If he wants to criticism why the team changed focus, it seems kind of a non issue. Money, chances of winning, etc. doesn't make a difference to most of his readers. If he wants to debate if they did a good job of changing to a small ball team, more people will be interested. Unfortunately, by now, when he does hit a home run with his analysis, it isn't taken seriously. This is probably his weakest effort to date. Reads as very petty and childish. And this is coming from someone who actually enjoys some of his columns. The problem is that the whole town knows JM and JR capital H hate each other. Any article short of his mid summer "Sox suck barely better than Cubs collapse" backhanded compliments should be read as a tabloid writer trying to rock the boat. If he actually has a valid point about the Sox simply "re-naming" their "cost-cutting" (I dont agree with, but could be argued) it falls on deaf ears because 99% of the time hes usually trying to find new ways to soil JR's morning coffee. He's a firestarter, plain and simple. If you read between the lines occasionally, you get a nice handle on one man's opinion, but thats rare and usually not much to write home about. When he trashes the tower on the other hand, thats just fun to watch.
