  1. I'm in either way, but I would recommend an earlier draft time. It could easily take 3 hours for someone that is patient and thorough in their bids.
  2. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Mar 22, 2010 -> 07:29 PM) Huh? A stud hitter? You've got Ramirez, Utley and Tex. Unless you're trying to score Pujols, I don't see how studlier you can get. There are better guys than Tex out there, whether I can acquire them or not is another story.
  3. I guess I'll post mine... Hanley Ramirez Chase Utley Mark Teixeira Dan Haren Jake Peavy Still open to packaging someone like Upton (Justin) or Votto with Tex for a stud hitter or those guys with Peavy for a stud pitcher.
  4. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Mar 19, 2010 -> 11:25 PM) LOL. And just as you make this announcement the guy I was talking about just signed up about an hour ago. But the draft change is fine for me. I assume we PM you are keepers? Or do we post them here? Either one.
  5. I just pushed the draft back a week. The new date/time is Monday March 29th at 8 PM Central. On a related topic, keepers will be due on Friday the 26th by midnight, giving me time to enter all of them and for everyone to be able to plan a bit.
  6. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Mar 19, 2010 -> 01:46 AM) I got one guy that said he wanted to join. Haven't heard back from him yet. I'm going to need to know about this fairly soon so I know whether or not I have to bug people and/or push back the draft.
  7. QUOTE (knightni @ Mar 8, 2010 -> 03:47 PM) I'm down. Have you started one yet? I did not create one due to what appeared to be relatively luke-warm interest. I would happily create/join one if I knew we could get 12 players.
  8. Let's also not forget that UNI lost to DePaul and Evansville. I'm always leery of taking mid-majors that don't shoot terribly well from the field, don't force turnovers and don't light it up from 3-point range.
  9. Seriously, they basically gift-wrapped an Elite-8 trip for Duke, and Baylor and Villanova are beatable as well.
  10. I'm predicting total chaos in this bracket, there are a lot of relatively weak high seeds in there.
  11. QUOTE (thxfrthmmrs @ Mar 7, 2010 -> 01:10 PM) when i was listening to the pre game show last night, Bill Wennington pointed out that the bulls have to rebound better with joakim out, especially the guards because they have not been rebounding well lately, specifically they have to box out better and turn their bodies back and anticipate the rebound when the shot is up. I am not sure, maybe the announcers are being too critical like myself, or people just aren't being realistic and being too protective of their favorite player. who gives a flying s*** about rebounding? well you just can't argue the fact that in some of the games (vs hawks and Memphis) if we had rebounded better, we could have come out on top at the end. dont get me wrong, i do admires parts of Rose's game, and he is already one of the best in the league at what he does well, but not helping out your team with the rebounding chore when your team's leading rebounder is out is just inexcusable, not to mention that he played the most minutes last night and failed to register a single rebound, that is absurd. some of you like to compare him to J Kidd or D Wade, but they, along with other superstar guards like Paul, D Will, Rondo, and even young guys like westbrook, evans, and curry all rebound better than Rose does. if he learns to box out other guards, and anticipate the rebound, or play the passing lane and go for the theft and start an easy fastbreak, it will do wonders for him and the team. FOR THE RECORD, MAVS STARTING BACKCOURT HAD 16 BOARDS LAST NIGHT, BULL STARTING BACKCOURT? ONLY 3 REBOUNDS. doesn't that just make you wonder if Rose had rebounded better? And Zoom Slowik, my argument is far from complaining the big hurt doesnt play shortstop, because he doesn't have the ability to. my argument is like saying david wright who has the ability to hit 25-30 HRs every season hit only 7 last season, and you say who gives a horse s*** if he is driving in runs? well he could do better if he had knocked in more homeruns. Rose has great size and is the best athlete at his position, he could easily get 6 or even 7 boards a game, and the bulls definitely need that, especially with Joakim out. Sometimes if you take a look at all phases of the game, you can easily point out where the issue is, but this is just my two cents. No one said rebounding isn't important, everyone is saying rebounding FROM YOUR POINT GUARD isn't terribly important. Very few point guards make a consistent impact on the boards, much like very few elite hitters are able to play shortstop. Your David Wright comparison isn't really apt because slugging is a major part of driving in runs while rebounding isn't nearly as crucial to being an elite PG as quickness, ball-handling, passing and shooting (an area where he does still need some work). Point guards are usually so far away from the basket that it's difficult to get large numbers of boards, plus the PG usually is the guy that has to get back to defend in trasition. Kidd and Steve Francis are the only point guard in recent history to consistently average 5 rebounds a game. If a SF gets less than 6 rebounds a game and big men get under 8 that's considered pretty soft because that's what they are supposed to do. Plus as I posted, the difference between Rose and the best rebounding PG in the league is 1.7 rebounds a game. Also, none of those guards that you mentioned is averaging significantly over 5 boards a game, and only Kidd and Westbrook are getting even 5. Rose is averaging 3.7. That marginal upgrade in rebounding ability isn't the reason they lost, not when they allow 122 points. Let's not forget that they're not remotely close in that game if Rose doesn't get 34 points and 8 assists in that game. If you want to gripe about the rebounding, look at your big men like Miller, Gibson, Warrick and Deng, those are the guys that are supposed to get a good number of rebounds. If you're counting on your PG to make a major impact on the rebounds, you have some pretty serious problems. More to the point, rebounding wasn't their major issue in that game. They actually out-rebounded Dallas by 4 and beat them in offensive rebounds 10-6. Allowing the Mavericks to shoot 56% was by far the biggest problem.
  12. Griping about Rose's rebounding is like complaining that The Big Hurt couldn't play shortstop. You pay your PG to drive, handle the ball and run the offense, not crash the boards. He's averaging a whopping 1.7 fewer boards than Jason Kidd (who leads all PG's) entering tonight. Even if you go by rebounds/48, he's only 2.3 behind Kidd. In other words, who gives a flying f***?
  13. QUOTE (danman31 @ Feb 25, 2010 -> 11:29 PM) When is the deadline to name your keepers? I'm really slacking on this section... Keepers won't be due until at least a week before the draft, which is set for March 22nd. I'll probably reduce it later, but it will be at least 24 hours before the draft.
  14. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Feb 25, 2010 -> 11:15 PM) I really didn't understand anything, especially why the Grizzlies picked into the hype of a really tall guy. Had they drafted Evans, well, that would have been a scary team. Eh, the last thing they need is another scorer with Randolph, Gay and Mayo all putting up 18+ (okay, 17.9 for Mayo), plus the team as a whole is scoring 102. Their defense is the issue. They really could have used a good passing PG that can defend (Rubio was the best fit, though he's probably not a plus defender) or a good defensive center that isn't a huge liability on the other end, which they were hoping was Thabeet. This was a terrible draft in which to pick second, especially given their needs.
  15. I should have posted something about this a while ago... I want to start a new league with an auction-style draft with the option to make it a keeper (dollar values carrying over obviously). However, I'm not going to set it up until I know I can fill it, preferrably with some solid, proven players since it's a multi-year league. The draft would be on a weeknight starting around 7 PM central since it's an extremely lengthy draft format. Anyways, post in here if you're interested. I'll set up the league and post info once I get some players.
  16. Are you forced to keep a certain number of pitchers? If not, then Hanley, Kinsler and Justin Upton are no-brainers. Those are all top-3 round players that will be extremely hard to re-draft. The same can't be said of the pitchers. For the 4th player, I'd take the guy you prefer out of Cain and Verlander, with my personal preference probably being Justin.
  17. QUOTE (knightni @ Feb 22, 2010 -> 12:49 AM) "Domination" does not equal greatness alone. Anyone can bully their way into a dunk if they are huge. It takes skill and athleticism to be a well rounded great player. This is why I am not a fan of Amar'e. He has absolutely no ability besides dunking. Amare also has one of the highest rates of conversion on 2-point jumpers in the league, he's hitting 46% of his jumpers this year after hitting 44.5% last year and 46% the year before. That said, he's definitely more of a shooter/finisher type than a real low-post threat, Nash helps his offensive numbers a bit and his defense and rebounding are issues.
  18. QUOTE (DBAHO @ Feb 21, 2010 -> 08:24 PM) Dwight's post game is actually quite decent now, he's got the running hook, the baseline spin move, and he can hit the bank shot ALA Duncan. 1st half of the season, the Magic hardly gave him the ball, but thankfully they are now and his numbers are starting to get back on par I think we showed today that a Magic vs. Cavs series in the playoffs would be very interesting to watch once again. Making the moves and converting them at a decent rate are two different things. Basically every scouting report and the stats say he's sub-par if he's not right at the rim. He only makes 42% of his shots in the under 10 foot range (not counting the at the rim data), which is low when compared to guys like Duncan (49.7), Jefferson (51), Stoudemire (52.8), Boozer (47.4), Lopez (47.7), Bosh (50.9), ect. He's still the best center in the league right now without a dependable post arsenal, but when comparing him to other elite centers historically it definitely hurts his case.
  19. QUOTE (SockMe @ Feb 21, 2010 -> 05:29 PM) Shaq is just mad because he knows that Dwight is better and that one day Dwight could be considered the best Center of all-time. Not even close. Dwight is a phenomenal finisher, but he has pretty much no post moves and is an abysmal shooter. He's good, but nowhere close to historically good yet, not with his struggles to consistently score 20 and his high turnover rates.
  20. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Feb 20, 2010 -> 08:31 PM) For what it's worth, I'd rather get Manu if he doesn't command a high price. Plus, Deng would need to get moved eventually since his contract keeps growing while Noah and Rose will be due for paydays. Signing Manu for any real money at this point isn't exactly any better, his scoring average has plummeted the last two years (down to 13.7) and he's getting up there in years. Not exactly the ideal running mate for Rose given he's on the wrong side of his career arc. Deng doesn't "have" to get moved for quite some time, they're nowhere near the current projected luxury tax. Noah isn't due for an extension until 2011/2012, Rose until 2012/2013. We'll be under a new CBA that will likely have lower contract values by then, and Hinrich will be off the books after 2011/2012. Even if they're pushing the tax those two years, Deng expires in 2014 and he has more value for cap purposes as his contract length reduces. It's one thing to move Deng if you're using the money to add someone like Joe Johnson that's a big upgrade or to add someone comparable that is a better fit (ie a better outside shooter), it's quite another just to deal him to save some money without adequetely replacing the scoring. Depending on guys like Salmons and Hinrich to be their 3rd/4th scorer is why they're pretty mediocre right now.
  21. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Feb 20, 2010 -> 06:17 PM) You know what? If I could, I'd trade Deng to the Kings for Nocioni and a second round pick swap. Then I'd use the Bulls 2 picks to draft Xavier Henry (if he falls to them) and Greivis Vasquez in the second round. Resign Miller (he'd kind of a be like to Noah/Asik/Gibson as Hunter is to Rose) if his knees hold up, and resign Warrick since it seems like he'll be a good fit. That's a terrible idea, Nocioni is basically Deng with a third of the talent. He's also one of the few players in the league more overpaid than Deng, giving him over $6.5 mil to put up MAYBE 12-6 for the next two and a half years is a huge waste of money. At least Deng is a solid third scorer on a good team, Nocioni can't even start for the Kings for christ's sake. They're going to need someone to be a legit offensive threat besides Rose and the FA, otherwise you're only marginally better than you are now. 16+ PPG scorers aren't common enough to be just given away unless you know you can find a reasonable replacement/upgrade in the exchange.
  22. Would have been nice if NU decided to stop a couple of lob passes tonight. Soooooo many easy lay-ins for Penn State.
  23. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Feb 15, 2010 -> 03:37 PM) He sets the draft time up and is the only one who shows up each year. Just because YOU keep missing them doesn't mean I'm the only one that shows up. It's not like I set them at 8 AM, they're always weeknights at 8 or 9.
  24. QUOTE (knightni @ Feb 14, 2010 -> 03:54 PM) Do you think there will be a year when we only keep 2 or 3 to give newer guys a chance at better players? I was thinking about totally re-setting the rosters next year or making anyone that's been kept more than 3 years ineligible to be a keeper for the same team, it has been a while.
  25. QUOTE (CyYoungPorzio @ Feb 13, 2010 -> 10:13 AM) Hey I'm looking to upgrade my pitching by adding an Ace. I wouldn't consider anyone off the table but A-Rod and Aaron Hill will be hard to pry from me. Here is my roster from 2009: Zoom, what are you looking for in return for Peavy? Asdrubal Cabrera Jorge Cantu Doumit Adam Dunn Granderson Aaron Hill Ludwich McClouth Podsednik B. Roberts A-Rod Denard Span Aardsma Scott Baker AJ Burnett Josh Beckett Happ Marquis Nolasco Pineiro Valverde I don't really see a good fit for what I'm looking for on your roster. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Feb 13, 2010 -> 09:40 PM) Were you in a league with retards or super retards? How did you get all those guys? Keep in mind that this league started in 2006. Tex, Utley and Peavy were my first three picks that year and I grabbed Hanley in free agency his first year. Combine that with the first few post-keeper picks every year and a youth-heavy drafting strategy and it's not that hard to get a loaded roster.
