  1. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Sep 16, 2014 -> 11:42 AM) Hmm maybe ill pick this up Just to warn you, there's a lot of grinding once you finish the story (which I still haven't done because I do other stuff, but I digress). You could probably finish it at level 15 or so after 12 hours, if you do nothing but story missions. After that, it's multiplayer and repeated strike missions/raids while trying to upgrade your loot. That will turn a lot of people off. Others will gripe about a virtually non-existant story, boring side missions or mediocre bosses (most of them are just larger versions of regular enemies with limited attacks and insane health bars). I love it though. It's not perfect or revolutionary, but it's fun. The basic gameplay is good, you get some awesome abilities, the graphics are good and it runs well, and you can get some pretty good mileage if you play all three classes and keep chasing loot like I know I will.
  2. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Sep 16, 2014 -> 11:24 AM) I think you need to get the 'rents to splurge on a higher speed service! You were glitching like mad on Sunday. That one game was bad, but I didn't notice major issues in the numerous other hours I spent playing the game.
  3. QUOTE (Charlie Haeger's Knuckles @ Sep 15, 2014 -> 11:23 AM) Make sure your audio settings are set to "Mixed" or hybrid or whatever they call it. Otherwise it is REALLY hard to hear commentary from the fireteam. Maybe that was my issue, pretty sure mine is on prioritize party. I could not hear the guy in my fireteam before we started a party (this isn't you i'm talking about tru).
  4. Played RGIII and still can win with 12 points from Ertz in a ppr. My other league I actually have to root for a kicker, need 6 from Vinitieri.
  5. QUOTE (TRU @ Sep 14, 2014 -> 10:16 AM) Zoom, I see that youre now able to play with me so ill team up with you next time I see you on. I was doing the strike playlists when you joined me yesterday so you wouldnt have been able to do it yet. Looks like you can now though so ill look out for you next time I get on Destiny. Yeah, I tried to say why I was dropping out over the mic, but forgot that you can only chat with your party members. That s*** is annoying. I played a lot yesterday. It seems like it is very annoying leveling after you hit 20. You need that s*** though, I tried doing the heroic weekly strike with another level 20 and we both were getting one-shot by everything. Sort of related: does anyone know what the hell all of these materials are for? I got a ton of s*** and it seems confusing. I know where to use strange coins and I think some of it is for gear upgrades, but not totally sure.
  6. QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Sep 11, 2014 -> 04:12 PM) Add me on PSN for Destiny if you want: rowdyruss22 Favorite gun thus far are the Cydonia's. I got one of those late in the beta. That thing melts faces and just about everyone used it in the multiplayer (that or a Shingen).
  7. Add me if you want to play some Destiny on PS4. I expect to be playing a lot. PSN is ZoomSlowik
  8. Some of the flags being thrown this year are absolutely ridiculous.
  9. QUOTE (scs787 @ Aug 30, 2014 -> 05:21 PM) Northwestern showin some life in the 2nd half, making things very interesting. Andddd they drop an easy 4th down conversion..... Well damn, valiant effort by the Cats to make things interesting. Catchable ball, but it was also thrown behind him. Simien's scattershot accuracy + several drops= bad offense.
  10. QUOTE (scs787 @ Aug 26, 2014 -> 09:48 PM) Cameron has a week 4 bye so I'll just dump him for a WR after that. Would like to keep Flacco simply because of Jay's injury history. Dude, no. Cameron is a useful piece you probably drafted in the mid-rounds to be your starting TE. Don't drop him just because he's on a bye. If anything, drop Celek after week 4 because you're not going to need a 2nd TE the rest of the year unless Cameron gets hurt (in which case you can probably go get Celek again). You also seem to be set on carrying two QB's even though there are enough of them that you should be able to find a serviceable one on the waiver wire. That really hurts you in a league with a short bench relative to the starting lineup like this one. Being stubborn like that makes you do silly things like drop Jordan Cameron because you insist on carrying Joe f***ing Flacco.
  11. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Aug 24, 2014 -> 11:15 PM) Very odd league if you were able to get Forte and Dez in a 14 teamer. Who the hell did everyone draft between Forte and Dez? That's just stupid. Combined with Gronk, should be pretty good. The top 3 qb's going was the big thing. Other than that, mostly rb's.
  12. Screw it, I'll throw mine in here. It's a 14 team league, so keep that in mind before you rip me to shreds... QB- Romo WR- Dez WR- Wright RB- Forte RB- Jennings Flex- CJ1K TE- Gronk K- Vinatieri DEF- Patroits Bench- Freeman, Hyde, Wheaton, Stills, Gordon and Matthews Yes, I know my WR's are weak unless Gordon plays. I was a bit paranoid about getting RB depth and I still had WR's I liked on my list until the 9th round or so. Unfortunately, the starting RB's were gone by the end of round 5 (unless you count S-Jackson (6th) and DeAngelo Williams). I'd never played a real league that deep and I could have done a bit better. Yahoo's draft analyzer says I'm going to win the league though! If I had to do it over, I'd have grabbed Gio in the 2nd, Jeffrey or Antonio Brown in the third. I still don't think I would have been totally happy though because I would have had to take someone like Patterson, Desean Jackson or Floyd in the 4th or wait until the 8th to get Tate, Randle or Hunter (didn't really like the receivers there at my 5th). With the benefit of hindsight, I'd have probably liked my team the most if I still went Jennings/Johnson in the 4th and 5th and gone Wright/Tate/Sanders in the 7th/8th/9th not sure I'd have guessed to go that way though. I also wouldn't have Gronk in that scenario, would have probably waited for Pitta in the 10th that way. It's REALLY hard to like your team when it's that deep.
  13. QUOTE (scs787 @ Aug 24, 2014 -> 07:49 PM) RGIII was their in the 11th round, I couldn't pass on that that late. He or Stafford could be traded for a WR if need be. I was unaware of Jones being out since he didn't have a cross next to him. I dumped him for Hunter. Ebron is just gonna be a wait and see guy. I absolutely loved what I saw from him when I was "scouting the NFL draft" and think he has the potential to be a monster...Which would then make Davis/Reed available. That speaks poorly of your Stafford pick then. If you could still get a QB like RGIII in the 11th, you took your first QB too early. Even after you took Stafford, I'm sure you could have selected someone that would play more than one week for you in the 11th. It's usually difficult to get value in a trade for a QB because there are a bunch of decent ones. If RGIII was still there in the 11th, that strongly implies that your league doesn't really value quarterbacks. Hunter helps, though I actually meant Kendall WRIGHT. Somehow I morphed the two into one player. Especially for PPR, he's a very good mid-round pick. Admittedly he might have gone earlier since it's PPR, but he was merely an example. The point is you really needed SOMEONE more dependable as your #3 WR. You're going to be hurting in bye weeks between your WR/flex because of it. With Ebron, you're taking a guy that's unlikely to crack your lineup again. A lot of guys don't carry two TE's much less three. You could easily have taken a high upside WR, and that guy would likely out-produce Ebron. There's a pretty good chance that he doesn't produce what Kenny Stills did last year, and that's a guy that still has upside as well. As it is, you not only need Ebron to hit, you need to find a way to extract value for a middle-tier TE in trade to maximize the return on it. You're creating more work than you have to. It's possible it could still work with trades or pickups, but you sacrificed depth at a crucial position in PPR for depth at positions where you don't really need as much depth.
  14. QUOTE (TRU @ Aug 24, 2014 -> 06:25 PM) This was my 12 team PPR mock from the other night, I was going with the zero RB strategy but had to change it a little bit due to a player falling to me I didnt expect to be available.. QB: Tony Romo RB: Montee Ball RB: Rashad Jennings WR: Demaryius Thomas WR: Dez Bryant TE: Kyle Rudolph Flex: Randall Cobb K: Mason Crosby Def: Pittsburgh BN: Josh Gordon BN: Robert Griffin III BN: Danny Woodhead BN: Jeremy Hill BN: Devonta Freeman Well know before the season whether or not Gordon will be playing this year, so thats an easy drop and replace if hes out for the year. I like Pittsburgh matchup hosting Cleveland week 1 and will be streaming defenses. Montee Ball slipped to the end of round 3 and I had to take him. He has a chance to be a top 5-7 back. So Cobb made it to the 4th? Yikes. You smoked those fools.
  15. QUOTE (scs787 @ Aug 24, 2014 -> 06:10 PM) Just finished up a PPR draft that I'm real happy with. QB- Stafford/RGIII WR- VJax WR- T. Smith RB- AP RB- Gio TE- Davis Flex- Ellington Flex- Reed D- Seattle K- Gostlowski Sproles, Ingram, Shorts, Ebron, Marvin Jones. Only whoopsies I made was Ellington and Gio both have week 4 byes Is this a 2 QB league? If not, that's a poor use of assets. You could have drafted a much-needed receiver and still grabbed a competent backup late (or not take one at all). Obviously ignore that if it is a two QB league. I also agree with Tru, in a PPR league with two flex, you needed more/better receivers. You've really only got 3 right now since it'll be several weeks before Jones is back on the field. V-Jax is solid but inconsistent, and Smith isn't as good in a PPR league (career high of 65 receptions). I'd like your team a lot more if you had someone like Kendall Hunter as your 3rd receiver. Even a low-ceiling guy like Brian Hartline would significantly help your WR depth. Like Tru said, I'd drop Ebron and try to grab another decent receiver. I can't imagine you're ever going to use him, and rookie TE's typically struggle.
  16. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Aug 13, 2014 -> 09:48 PM) In other news, Venric Mark will transfer to play "closer to home" after being suspended, and NW's #1 receiver Christian Jones is out for the year with a knee injury. NW could still probably put up 40 on Illinois's defense, but the battle to be Chicago's B1G team just got tighter. Both of those really suck. They have enough depth at those positions to get by, but it's already starting to look like last year with the injuries/bad luck.
  17. QUOTE (Jake @ Aug 7, 2014 -> 05:10 PM) What irritates me about this CLE talk is the stupid assumption that all of the best players on CLE will put up equivalent numbers to their previous seasons. If we learned nothing else from the Miami experiment, it's that somebody's going to take a big hit to their counting stats The Big 3 averaged 26.7/25.5/18.7 their first year and 27.1/22.1/18 their second year with Wade and Bosh each getting about 3 fewer minutes the second year. If you prefer shots, they went 18.8/18.2/13.7 and 18.9/17.1/14.2. After that, Wade started fading and Bosh turned into a jumpshooter, so it's a bit less relevant. Last year, Cleveland's guys averaged 18.5 (Love), 17.6 (Lebron) and 17.4 (Irving) shots. That's not THAT big a dropoff relative to the Heat. Lebron's touches don't need to change at all, and Love will still get plenty of jumpers. Irving just drops from 21/22 points on 17/18 shots down to about 18 a game on 14 to 15 shots. The one caveat is Waiters, who needs to signficantly cut back on his chucking. I would be exploring the market with him if I were the Cavs...
  18. I must have missed the conference call where everyone decided that Kevin Love is injury prone. Yes, he missed a ton of games in 12/13 with the broken hand. Other than that, he's played 77, 55 (lockout year), 73, 60 and 81. Even with the lockout subtracting 16 potential games, that's an average of about 70 a year. Unless you expect him to hurt himself while doing pushups on a yearly basis, that's not really much of a history to go on. Irving has a much more sketchy history so far. Besides, even if they do get hurt, they have two guys that can put up numbers off the bench in Waiters and Thompson (I'm assuming Varejao starts with Lebron and Love). I find this position funny given the team we all support. Even if you ignore Rose (which is a glaring issue to ignore), Noah has played 70 games once in the last 5 years (lockout caveat as well to be fair) and is frequently hobbling around in the playoffs, Gasol has missed 55 games the last two years and Butler had issues last year as well. That's really a case of the crow calling the raven black. There are enough real issues to worry about with Cleveland without picking nits. The bottom line is they're adding the best player in the league and another top-15 player without losing anything mind-blowing from last year's squad. I think they'll probably get the 2 seed because they'll have to work out some kinks, but they'll be a force to be reckoned with at the end of the year.
  19. I can't take Washington or Toronto seriously, at least as they stand. Washington has pretty iffy supporting wings and only a slightly above average frontcourt (assuming Nene actually stays on the floor). Even if Wall and/or Beal takes the leap, that will hold them back against better teams. Toronto got career years out of Lowry and DeRozan, I'm not assuming those are trends. They leaned on those two pretty heavily. I love me some Valanciunas, but eventually he has to get his s*** together. If Jonas turns into the 15-10 guy I thought I drafted before this year in fantasy, then things get more interesting for them. It wouldn't surprise me a bit if Atlanta, finished ahead of those two. The Hawks are a bit thin in the backcourt, but they have a great duo up front if Horford is healthy and Teague probably won't shoot as poorly as he did last year.
  20. QUOTE (Boogua @ Aug 4, 2014 -> 01:31 PM) Yeah, I completely agree. There are so many variables to take into account. I only asked because realgm is doing a top 100 list and they ranked KG #11 all time (some even had him as high as #4) due to RAPM. It just seemed insane to me. I like getting other people's points of view. Oh man, if you take it to a historical perspective, that's even sillier. I remember seeing an article in ESPN magazine a while back trying to use win shares to re-do the Hall of Fame. You get silly stuff like Isaiah Thomas, James Worthy and Sam Jones being out while Terry Porter, Detlef Schrempf and Jeff Hornacek are in. Actually, here is the article.
  21. QUOTE (Boogua @ Aug 4, 2014 -> 01:38 AM) So, I respect zoom a ton. Zoom, what do you think of the advanced stat RAPM? I honestly haven't read much on it, I took a quick glance when it first came out. In general, I take advanced basketball stats with a huge grain of salt. It's difficult to separate individual value from the context of their team and role. I've noticed that role players on good teams fare well in most models, especially when compared to good but not great players on bad teams. Someone like Nick Collison usually rates very high, but you still have to project what he'd do in a bigger role on a different team.
  22. There shouldn't be issues offensively. LeBron seems to like taking 16 shots a game now and while Love is high-usage in terms of shots/free throws, he doesn't need the ball for 8 seconds at a time. A lot of his attempts are catch-and-shoot or off rebounds. Kyrie will have to scale back, but he should benefit from having two superior threats on the floor instead of every set revolving around him dribbling into a (frequently contested) shot. Defense is where they might have issues. I suppose Waiters might mess things up to, he seems to think he's a lot better than he is.
  23. QUOTE (bmags @ Aug 1, 2014 -> 01:18 PM) I know I've said it before but I don't think I've ever seen "good" kyrie. ive seen him get hot from 3 and then ice cold in the same game. I've never really known how his reputation got so good to be a 2 time all-star even in the East. Obviously if Irving is your #3 best player you are in damn good shape but more just referencing how his reputation has never seemed to match for me. He averaged 22-4-6 at age 20 on decent efficiency. That's pretty good. He wasn't as good this year though, especially early in the season. I don't see much difference between him and Lillard. Both are talented offensively and neither defends anyone. Lillard has had much better teammates though and is a bit older.
  24. QUOTE (bmags @ Aug 1, 2014 -> 09:31 AM) I left them out because theirs was the one example of strate. c tanking that worked. But even so, they built that roster in the later rounds. I think I just want to see competent organizations rewarded more often. I've said it before, but I'm very, very pissed off that Cleveland could be managed so horrendously and fall ass backwards into a championship contending team. That's extreme luck more than anything. They didn't tank this year, they thought they were a playoff team. They did what you're "supposed to do" they just did it poorly. They were the dumpster fire they deserved to be before they moved up again and LeBron showed up.
  25. QUOTE (Jake @ Jul 31, 2014 -> 11:24 PM) The problem is that many teams don't conduct themselves like tanking is a bad bet. Finally Charlotte decided it was far better to just get in the playoffs and be watchable than it is to perennially be among the worst 3-5 teams in the league. Not everyone can win the Finals. Tanking and just being terrible aren't always the same thing. Charlotte didn't really "tank" until they traded Wallace and Jackson a few years ago and finished with 7 wins during the lockout year. They've actually won 30 games for most of their existence (remember that they were an expansion team). For all the tanking talk, the Bucks were the worst team in the league. They went out and signed a bunch of guys because their owner didn't want to throw away a season. Sometimes teams just make awful decisions and the results aren't good.
