  1. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Apr 7, 2006 -> 03:13 PM) Hell if people want to complain...I like putting peanut butter on eggo waffles. Its freaking delicious with a little syrup. I fully endorse the use of peanut butter on any grain-based food. I prefer using it on french toast though.
  2. I've always gone with relish and onion or chili, or at least as long as I can remember. I'm not a big fan of the chicago style dog. I can really live without the pickles and tomato, and I'm not a big mustard guy either. I can't stand mayo on a burger, that just doesn't work for me.
  3. Can we institute some new rule stating that anyone that starts an attendance thread will be given 40 lashes?
  4. QUOTE(elrockinMT @ Apr 6, 2006 -> 06:39 PM) The Tribe's pitching is one that can rival the Sox. They have always had good pitching though. Last year we played 9 one-run games against them, but we won all of them. Now in game 3 of the 2006 season we lost one in 11 innings. We don't have Pods or Konerko hitting yet either. Freddie Garcia pitched yet another one of his up and down games by getting knocked around for 7 runds. For some reason he tends to get bombed from time to time. Our pitching is definitely better, or at least our starters. We had 4 starters with an ERA under 4 last year to their two. Buehrle, Garcia, and Vazquez have better resumes than anyone on their staff and Contreras pitched as well as anyone in baseball for the second half of the season. Sabathia and Byrd are their only two pitchers that have put together more than one solid season in their careers. Let's not go nuts over 2 games, especially when Lee's outing wasn't even a quality start.
  5. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Apr 6, 2006 -> 08:38 PM) Texas has scored 3 runs today too. And everyone remember how well the Dodgers started off 05, to the point that people were starting to look at the team, see guys like Depodesta and Bradley smiling because they were showing up all those sportwriters who didn't believe in the team? How did that work out for them? You can add the Orioles to that group last year, and the Royals from a few years ago.
  6. The results were good for Westbrook and Lee, but we had quite a few hard hit balls that were right at people. I can remember about 5 yesterday and another 3 or 4 on Tuesday. Plus we had plenty of chances to put up runs with one well timed hit. It's not like we were totally shut down the whole game. Those guys are fairly good pitchers, but neither is a strikeout pitcher and they rely on their defense to get outs. They'll have days where they just can't get anyone out. Mota was impressive though, he looks a lot like his old self. That's a bad sign.
  7. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Apr 6, 2006 -> 02:10 PM) Oden alone makes OSU favored to win the big ten. UNC was basically given no respect this year in a rebuilding year and proved they can win. I do have both winning their conference, and they are both in my top 10, with the potential to move up as guys go pro off the other teams. I'd just like to see the freshmen play a bit before I rank them ahead of some of these teams with a little more experience. I think Cook and/or Lighty have to be at least decent replacements for Foster and Sullinger, although having Oden in the middle gives them a little more slack. Plus they don't really seem to have an obvious option at PF. As for UNC, I think their backcourt needs to be more productive. They definitely have the potential for that though with the current freshmen developing and Lawson and Ellington joining the roster.
  8. Some of these rings looks way too gaudy, so I'm glad they didn't go nuts on it (although I do like the Red Sox and Angels ones earlier in the thread). I think it's a pretty nice looking ring.
  9. QUOTE(TheBigHurt @ Apr 5, 2006 -> 01:03 PM) So you have a problem with your son going to the bathroom or getting something to eat while the game is going? On the otehr hand, I'm glad you don't let your SON get drunk at ball games. How old is he? I'm pretty sure he means go at the inning break or during a pitching change instead of blocking everyone's view of the action while you're in the middle of your fourth beer run.
  10. QUOTE(whitesoxin' @ Apr 4, 2006 -> 10:29 PM) So I'm guessing this ring isn't a piece of s***? Hmm the trophy doesn't look all that nice to me, but I'm hoping I'm wrong. We are planning on getting there around 10:30, hopefully that is good enough. 20,000 is a lot of trophys. They're very similar to the replicas that the Bulls sold/gave away in the past. They look pretty sharp, but they would have been even cooler if the Sox logo and the background were silver and black.
  11. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Apr 4, 2006 -> 09:40 PM) What time should we plan to be there tomorrow to get a trophy? I need any and all suggestions or strategy. THX. We got there at about 10:30 and and joined the mob between the gates where there wasn't any security, where there were several quasi-lines that eventually turned into a mob. We slowly worked our way towards the front and both got rings. My vote is get there early (at least 2 hours) and try going to gate 5 across the street first. There seemed to be a MUCH shorter line there, or at least nowhere near as bad as the mob scene by the other gates.
  12. QUOTE(Reddy @ Apr 4, 2006 -> 09:15 PM) he's also 4-5 w/ a double and 3 ribbies... One game doesn't mean he's ready, no matter who he's facing. He was highly mediocre in AA last year.
  13. QUOTE(T R U @ Apr 4, 2006 -> 08:56 PM) Thing is unlike the Royals their young talent is actually talented.. They have some good prospects playing now, plus better ones in the wings.. They wont be good this year, but they will surprise some people and eventually here they will build something nice, wherever they will be.. Also, they should have beaten Houston yesterday too.. I watched the game and Houston did not deserve to win that game at all The real difference between the two is that the Marlins have two All-stars in Cabrera and Dontrelle. I think the guys the Marlins are playing are a little more green than the Royals though, even if they are more talented. Ramirez especially should probably still be in AAA this year, instead he's batting leadoff. Their pitchers are also a giant mystery right now.
  14. And we gave our extra ring to a little kid behind us.
  15. They have very little proven major league talent, so I doubt they're going to be very good this year or next. They're depending on youngsters like Hermida, Willingham, Jacobs, Ramirez, and Mitre to play fairly big roles, and few of those guys are really ready. However, they have some pretty good young players that might make them a threat in a few years. They seem to be hot right now, so they might rack up some wins before they fall off the face of the earth, like a more talented version of the Royals a few years back.
  16. Damn, the Marlins are destroying Houston 10-0 even though Andy Pettitte started the game. Mitre is throwing a gem.
  17. QUOTE(ChiSox_Sonix @ Apr 4, 2006 -> 07:56 PM) im a UCONN fan and i also disagree with Vitale. However, if Boone and Williams come back (which is not out of the realm of possibilities), coupled with the return (maybe) of AJ Price and their other 3 freshmen plus a decent incoming class I could see them as a potential top 10 team by the end of the year. Also, Duke will be worse than they finished this year so how can he have them so high i dont know I'm not totally blasting them, they'll still be better than a lot of teams. I just don't think they're top 10 material (now or at the end of the season unless a lot of things go their way) with Anderson, Armstrong, and Brown gone, Gay likely leaving, and Williams and Boone potentially gone. If they can keep the last two (supposedly Williams is leaning towards leaving), they could be decent. Adrien will be a bigger factor this year, and Robinson is a solid freshmen. If they lose one of those guys (especially Williams), it could be tough though because there aren't a lot more options.
  18. I scored a 30, but it would be lower if not for some of the multiple choice TV/movie/book/comic questions.
  19. Sex discrimination and cival rights violations are a hell of a stretch in that case. I don't know how the lawyer could submit that with a straight face.
  20. Dunn has single-handedly given the Cubs about 5 runs, maybe more. He's making Carl Everett look like a gold-glover.
  21. QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Apr 3, 2006 -> 03:02 PM) I'd move Memphis higher. I can't really put Memphis ahead the teams in front of them right now, or Texas for that matter. Their youngsters need some work, especially in the post. Plus Williams is about as close to a lock to go as you could get. He wanted to enter the draft the last two years and now he finally has some hype. Supposedly Washington is seriously considering going too, at least according to Chad Ford's article on ESPN Insider. He also has Aldridge and Marcus Williams as likely to go, with pretty much everyone else as 50-50 (although I expect Gay and Thomas to declare personally).
  22. QUOTE(WCSox @ Apr 3, 2006 -> 01:44 PM) But when you look at the rest of the quote, it's not so controversial, is it? :rolly He's paraphrasing a previous quote however. This is him trying to backtrack on what he previously said. You can tell because the start of the quote is "I can't remember how I put it."
  23. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Apr 3, 2006 -> 01:19 PM) Casey, what made you think you "did well against the sox" last year? You only beat us 4 times all season. We smoked your asses, and then our minor league team swept your ass out of the playoff race. Couldn't have said it any better. How about actually beating us once in a while before you talk s*** Casey?
  24. I was definitely encouraged by Thornton's performance. His fastball was consistently around 94, and on TV it looked like it had a little bit of cutter-like action to it. Plus he threw one really nice slider to Hafner that I was surprised he didn't swing at. I can see how he gets in trouble though. He threw a lot of pitches that weren't even close, and he hung a few sliders that should have gone a long way. As long as we limit his innings in high pressure situations against guys that can really hurt him, it looks like he can be effective. Politte definitely looked off. His fastball was around 90 and he couldn't spot anything. His slider had some decent break on it though. I think he might just be a little rusty. B-Mac was awesome though, it looks like he could be a major factor in the pen (although it makes me question whether we really needed to resign Contreras).
  25. I haven't seen any site that had/has Davis as a 1st rounder, and I've heard little being said about him as a real pro prospect now. He thought about entering last year, but realized that he wouldn't go very high (actually I think he declared and pulled out). As for that mock draft, I wouldn't put much stock in anything that has Morrison and Gay going ahead of Aldridge at this point. Neither Draft Express or Chad Ford on ESPN has Davis in the first round. As for Thomas, he's about split as the #1 pick right now with Aldridge depending on who you talk to. It's a little pre-mature to say for sure who's gone and who's not, so I'm not assuming anyone's gone yet. As I already said, LSU still has enough talent without those two to still be decent.
